Love her or hate her, she was definitely a unique individual with a great sense of humor. I may not have agreed with her on much of anything, nor do I believe many LST readers agreed with her much either. But she will be missed. It’s nice when your political opponents are actually funny from time to time, and that’s hard to find in today’s liberals.

Astro, thanks, I missed that. I enjoyed her writing very much over the years. Especially the “shrub” moniker!
Molly’s under the holly and the shrub keeps on.
Molly certainly was a unique free spirit with a sharp wit and a sharper tongue. Since her cancer diagnosis I noticed a difference in her writing–the cleverness was still there, but the edge became ever sharper and morphed into nastiness on many occasions. I stopped reading her columns.
Her long battle with breast cancer was courageous and deserves respect. She said what she thought and didn’t dance around a subject. That also deserves respect, even though her views were almost always strongly liberal, sometimes way out liberal, and quite the opposite of mine. RIP
A reminder– unless the deceased was a dictator or terrorist, LST has a tradition of encouraging readers to speak well of the recently departed, regardless of ideological or political differences.
#5 David “unless the deceased was a dictator or terrorist” What about a Communist? I guess I’ll just say nothing then.
Here’s another reminder for the ladies out there -
Go get your mammograms done!
David B, in the spirit of Molly Ivins, I think you should let us “tell it like it is.” Do you think Molly would have “spoken well” of a conservative icon that had recently departed? I’m with Dave D on this one.
The only good commie is a dead commie. That’s good to me.
Come on, it is always respectful and right to speak well of the recently deceased. You don’t have to lie to do this.
It’s very easy for me to say something nice about Molly Ivins without lying or compromising my convictions that she was a far out wacked liberal socialist.
Here goes:
She was a very tall woman
