ya gotta stop gettin’ tricked! So I’m at the big anti-I.C.E. rally today on Greens Road in Houston and I’m, like, you know, really bored because the only people there are the protesters protesting against the raids and for the illegals. Yawn. No controversy. After an hour, I decide enough is enough and walk down the road to my truck. Hop in, look in the mirror and see a white truck coming up with an American flag. Hmm. Could this be the big anti-protest protest I ask?
So I hop out of the the truck and walk back down the road. Yes, there are anti-protest protesters arriving! Yippee and only an hour late. Camera in hand I continue onward. Walking through the original protesters, I ask one of them, hey, where have those guys been? He just grins (no stereotype here, he has all of his teeth) and says, we tricked ‘em! They’ve been on the other side of the building wondering where we were! Laughing his arse off! Hey, you had to be there. Ended up with 73 pro-immigration and 43 anti-immigration people. Yeah, I counted.
So finally there was a confrontation. Ended up taking a ton of pictures and talking to both sides. Very interesting. The US Border Watch guy is a real media hound, he doesn’t give a rat’s rear about the border, I assure you. Both the cheerleader and the fat chick in the picture are on the side of the Border Watch folk. I’m not sure I want to be on their side. But with this issue, he has to tell us what he REALLY thinks about Border SEcurity and Amnesty.
I don’t know where to start but let me try. I have many problems with the issue of border security and illegal immigration, but let me try and elaborate. If you want to tell me illegal immigration is an economic issue, I will listen to you. I think they put more money into the economy than they take out, but I have seen intelligent arguments opposing my point of view. If you want to tell me it is a cultural issue, I will listen to you. Assimilation has always been an integral part of the American experience. But to say it is a security issue is ridiculous and an insult to my intelligence and yours. I was on a plane six months ago and found out the woman in the seat next to me had accidentally carried a hunting knife onto the plane in her purse. She made it through every security checkpoint in the airport. I reab that only 1 out of every 100 cargo containers that come into this country is inspected. I know that if someone is over here on an expired student or tourist visa we will not hunt them down unless they commit a crime. These are the threats to our country. Do you honestly think someone is going to strap a suitcase nuke or dirty bomb on their back and swim the river?If you reaaly think this is a possibilty then we need to do 2 things.The first thing we need to do is pull some of these troops out of Iraq and have them seal the border. We have the finest military in the world. This would be nothing more than a training exercise for them. The last thing we need is a bunch of rednecks with deer rifles sitting on the border wanting to “hunt Messcans”. The second thing we need to do if we are serious is to look at this from a supply and demand point of view. There is obviously a demand in this country for cheap illegal labor whether we want to admit or not. Mexico is suppying it and always will unless we do something to curb the demand. This is where our hypocrisy shows. Whn the ordinance was first written in Farmers Branch, the city would not pass it unless the sanctions against employers who hired illegals were removed. Do you think anyone at Republic Waste was arrested during that raid? Now do you know where I stand, Sarge?

Numbers from a group that has passions towards removing all hispanics from society is who is backing those seemingly innocent reports they are from right-wing extremeist groups playing mainstream politics.

So that makes it 9 million by Pew and 6 million by the INS and the Us Census Bureau. a far cry from 0 and a far cry from 12 million as well.
Also, speeders, drunk drivers recreational drug users are tearing down our society greater than any crime wave. 75,000 people a year are killed by these people - lets keep it in perspective.

That being said, if we get to the point where we have to take the law into our own hands, then we are failing as a country, and it is our fault. I guess my problem is I believe in working within the system, unless the situation is intolerable. As far as comparing the illegal immigration problem to Katriniacs, single mothers, druggies, drunk drivers and speeders (speeders?), that is the classic red herring fallacy. The fact that we have those problems is irrelevant to whether we need to address the illegal immigration problem. That’s as goofy as saying we shouldn’t worry about rapes because murders are on the increase.

I have waited in the emergency room for hours, because they use emergency rooms as primary care, and they have no intention of paying the bill. I have been hit by Mexicans/Latinos three times. They ran each time like cockroaches, leaving me with a deductible to pay. My great, great grandfather came from Scottland, through Ellis Island. He was subject to a medical checkup, and had agreed never to take a dime of welfare. He never did and would never want to. Your people come in to rape our system, and have cash to send home to Mexico, to help feed the corrupt system down there. The problem is we have corrupt politicians and the few honest ones we do have; don’t have a backbone.
