It looks like our beloved hometown rag is going after Houston Press readers:
At Rick’s Cabaret North, topless dancers gathered at midnight Wednesday to salute Smith, who died in a Florida hotel room Feb. 8 at the age of 39. Similar tributes were planned for a dozen of the company’s other clubs throughout the city and around the country.
“It’s the way we pay our respects,” said Bob Glass, regional manager of Rick’s, who met Smith when she danced at the Rick’s on Bering Drive. (It has since been renamed Club Onyx.)
Smith personified the booming good times of Houston, although that Houston was already on the wane by the time she worked the day shift at Rick’s, where she reportedly caught the fancy of billionaire oilman J. Howard Marshall in 1992.
Incredibly, the Chron even managed to run the manager’s phone number:
Number redacted so BigJolly won’t call the poor guy again.
By the way, the Chron’s facts are wrong. Everybody knows that Anna Nicole Smith met Marshall at Gigi’s Cabaret on the Northwest Freeway.
UPDATE (8:49 a.m.): Phone number’s gone. Factual error remains.

Facts: the local ‘Pack of Lies’ don’t need to know no steenkin’ facts!!
BTW: first!
In our “PC” society, since topless dancers are a minority group, shouldn’t their be a national holiday created for Anna Nicole Smith. You would have thought with all that media coverage that she was someone of importance. She brought topless clubs into the media limelight. That way all the girls who aspire to be topless dancers can worship Anna Nicole as their hero. If people can admire sports figures, why can’t they look up to, I mean at, Anna Nicole.
I ought to tell Bob about this section so he can tell y’all what he REALLY thinks of ANS…
(it’s ain’t nice- he;ll tell ya what she wa really like)
(hint… there’s a reason why she was on day shift… LOL)
Anna Nicole Smith has gotten more than her share of “fifteen minutes of fame”. Wanting to be like Marilyn is one thing, actually getting it done is another. Let’s face it, she was a “golddigger” who almost got it done except for getting Marshall to rewrite the will to include her. Thank goodness for “ambulance chasing” lawyers, she was able to tie up the estate and may still get something from it if the lawyer fees don’t eat up all that money for both sides. She spent if faster than she got it, that’s why she filed bankruptcy and some judge tried to take care of the creditors by claiming she was due part of the estate. Oh well, can’t wait for the next celebrity news item to kick the Anna Nicole story out.
