Actually, the problem is that ALL education is religious in nature. It rests on the world view of the teacher, whether the subject is language, science, math or history. That is why schools have always been a function of the church (or whatever religious group you choose) - at least up until the last 150 years. The public schools today are still religious in nature - the administrators and leaders just try to hide it.

$10/week x 52 x 15yrs (inception 1992) = $7800 plus interest accrued over that time. Somewhere around $15000. Anyone won more than that in the lottery games?

I absolutely agree that our schools need to teach the whole of American history, not to mention World history. Part of said history is the contributiions of people from many different backgrounds in times when mainstream society thought they were less-than-human. Traditionally, history classes have over-looked or under-played these contributions so I have no beef with a) recognizing that it was an error to under-represent these historical facts though malice or mistake and b) setting aside time to make sure these facts are covered,

When Shannon and I were young boys, our mother took us to Mission Espiritu Santo and Presidio La Bahia at Goliad. It was a warm spring day and there was no one there but the three of us. While I don’t embrace paranormal beliefs, there was a very unusual, otherworldly, ethereal feeling about this place I have never forgotten in forty years. It is a beautiful site and I would recommend it to everyone. I stopped there on a similar day about six years ago and experienced the same feelings.

I don’t agree with this, but on the other hand, there is a shortage of quality truck drivers in this country. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to drive a truck, but on the other hand, the candidates available for trucking companies right now are slim pickins. Enterprising people in the trucking industry would do well to employ what quality drivers they could find in Mexico and utilize them all over, if they can’t find quality drivers in the US. There’s a big difference in someone who actually has no common sense or education with a CDL compared to one that’s employable as a decent truck driver.

Each of those factors influences the supply curve. To call any particular curve “insufficient” is to apply a value judgement to the basic laws of supply and demand. However, they shouldn’t be subjected to anyone’s value judgements anymore than the law of gravity.
The danger in attaching value judgements to basic laws of economics is that it paves the way to central planning. If we don’t like the market balance, then we need to articifially manipulate conditions to change the balance, right? And whose definition of sufficiency should guide our efforts? Mine? Yours? Should we take a poll? Maybe the job should be given to whoever has the best spin machine to tug at our heartstrings?
willsin Says:

In a free global market (which we are quickly nearing), for capital intensive countries such as the US, wages must decrease 70%+ in labor intensive industries to reach equilibrium. Countries with labor to export–China, India, Mexico–with suppressed wages now, wages will rise until equilibrium wage prices are met.
What to do if you are a capital intensive nation? 1) Stay out of labor intensive industries; 2) create more capital intensive jobs through increasing your population’s skills and higher education, creative technologies; 3) have your as many citizens as possible quickly become equity owners; else 4) get ready for a steep drop in income and wealth for those that cannot do 1-3.

Davis has been a leader in maintaining assets tests and income verification, which reduced the CHIP enrollment number and prevents those expensive SUV’s, since with assets tests the vehicle is limited to less than $20,000.
The real problem for the budget isn’t CHIP, which is a drop in the bucket compared to MEDICAID, and Davis has been on the forefront of this issue by pushing for cost savings and requiring hospitals to exercise fiscal efficiency. And he’s been a leader in other issues, such as taking MHMR to task for fiscal impropriety and protecting taxpayers from having to pay for abortions.
This post displays ignorance of the process and misrepresents Davis’ conservative record.

Seal the borders and the economic and social conditions will force the people to either accept their sorry state or do something about it.

The Brits’ liberal, socialist laws have enabled the baddies to take over. One of every 3 burglaries in Britain occurs when the victim is at home. My son had a frightening experience while spending the night at a friends’ home two doors down from ou rs.
Homeowners are confined to something called “proportional force”. If the burglar in your home has a 6 inch knife, you can’t use a 12 inch one to defend yourself, or you’ll be the one going to jail.
They are too blind to see that taking away the homeowner’s right to self-defense has emboldened the baddies, and think the solution is more regulation!
No doubt this additional regulation will increase the proportion of “hot” burglaries from 30% to 50%.

Then ask the American Indians what they think of the term “Native Americans.”
“Native” means born in, from the Latin for “birth.” You may have heard the English term “nativity” applied to those non-politically correct displays during the “Winter Holidays.”
American means quite a bit, but mostly it means a citizen of the greatest country in the world. However, in this case, it applies geographically and politically to the sovereign territory of that great country.
So, almost everyone who posts here is either born in, was a citizen at birth of America; we’re all Native Americans. Politically correct speech is typically grammatically, logically, and fundamentally incorrect.

Oddly enough, stories like this can help advance pro-life reasoning with the middle ground.
In short, it was legal for this lady to pay a stranger to destroy the human being in question. If the procedure hadn’t been “botched” the girl wouldn’t be alive today.
Is it legal for the mother to kill the girl today? Of course not. It would not only be illegal but it would be considered the worst possible crime.
So what changed in the mean time? Two things: The girl in question got bigger and her environment changed (from inside the womb to outside). But the size and location of a person are irrelevant with respect to their human rights. In fact, we typically afford greater rights to those who are smaller and weaker.

I understand that “you people” don’t like it when the law is broken and Republicans are punished, even though you continually spout rhetoric to the opposite.
Bottom line is he was found guilty, just like the BP agents. There was a trial, there was a jury, there were witnesses, there was a judge, there were long deliberations, etc. etc. etc.
It’s amazing how the judicial system isn’t working when it doesn’t go the way you want it to. But if Libby were a Democrat, you’d be rolling in your own urine right now from all the joy.

It was hardly “clear” that Libby was guilty. The jurors deliberated for nearly two weeks. The whole case hinged on Russert’s testimony, and evidence was excluded that would have impeached Russert (or at least forced him to admit that people can mistakenly make inconsistent statements to authorities). Again, not a very clear-cut case.
As for the “outing” issue being irrelevant — well, sure it’s irrelevant to guilt to the crimes Libby was convicted for from a legal perspective, but if the investigation itself had no basis, then the conviction for hindering that investigation is at least dubious from an moral perspective.

Having a man on the inside gives the average citizen/voter insight into the going ons of state government. That man having a radio station gives him a platform to tell the people what’s going on and whose voting how. Dan can muster the forces (aka the listerners) to action which is not a good thing for the politician/rino. The common man now has a man to rally behind for the start of the “Tax Revolution”. Good Luck Dan, you’re going to need it. Your fighting a pretty well entrenched establishment but the fight is worth it.

The best way to play lottery.
$10/week x 52 x 15yrs (inception 1992) = $7800 plus interest accrued over that time. Somewhere around $15000. Anyone won more than that in the lottery games?

The bill I really want to see (but it’s at the national level, so it may have to wait until it’s US Senator Dan Patrick): If you’re on any form of public assistance (welfare, food stamps, public housing, etc.), you’re voting rights are suppended until you’re off public assisstance.

This type of situation brings out my angry, inner libertarian, the one that wants to start slapping people upside the head. The list begins with politicians who resign right after being elected, mayors who want to tell me what I can eat, all the petty bureacrats and, most of all, the egocentric punks who populate our Justice Dept. like Johnny Sutton and Patrick Fitzgerald.

The average temperature in February 2007 was 32.9 F. This was -1.8 F cooler than the 1901-2000 (20th century) average, the 34th coolest February in 113 years. The temperature trend for the period of record (1895 to present) is 0.3 degrees Fahrenheit per decade.

No no no! It’s not man-made global warming. It’s man-made climate extremes. Just keep sending the checks and we’ll take care of the pesky technical details.

When you get on the Hardy toll road, the fastest you can get up to (in my car) is 130 mph. The cars start coming to fast at you to avoid them, so you have to slow down.

Legalize for sale, but not manufacture or growing?
Now we are talking NAFTA and CAFTA.
I am sure mexico would have no problem filling those needs. In fact I am sure that is who is currently filling the need.

What an awful thing to say about that cow!
Speaking of the global labor supply, check this out:
I was literally stunned after I watched this. It will give you chills to see what the future holds for us unless limits are put on immigration. It
is NOT an anti immigration video. Roy Beck simply uses visual aids to show you what will happen in the next few years if something is not done.
Please watch this and then pass it on to those you care about. I did. If you don’t get it after watching this, you are hopeless.
