LST, Chron maintain Pulitzer tie

Despite the paper’s noble efforts to let death-row killers off the hook, the Houston Chronicle can’t seem to pull ahead of Lone Star Times in the Pulitzer race, even with a century-long head start.

Although admittedly it is in a different category than what the Chronicle would be aiming for (fiction vs non-fiction?), I think we should point out that Austin journalist/writer Lawrence Wright got a Pulitzer for his non-fiction book The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11.

I guess the Chronicle writers just aren’t as world-class as their Austin counterparts….

Nick Anderson of the Chron did make the finals for cartooning…but then again that usually does not require a knowledge of spelling or grammar which is lacking at the chron.
