I just got home from the airport and CNN Headline News was on the TV. The discussion was about illegal immigration. The bottom of the screen read:
“Illegal Immigration Debate
Valuable Citizens or Criminals?”
Who else sees the incongruity in that question?
By the way, reports I heard on the radio said about 1,000 attended the demonstration in Los Angeles (so much for massive traffic jams), and Edd Hendee reported on KSEV that about 35 (excluding police and media) showed up for the downtown Houston rally this afternoon.
In almost an hour of coverage, however, Headline News failed to mention the lackluster turnout.
Update:
No one yet has commented on the incongruity in the Headline News “crawl.” I’m waiting.

The demonstrators got the message. Stay at home. Dont screw this up. We have Bush in our back pocket. No need to get the American people up in arms.
Bushnandez is a good man. Si Senor.

That’s one plausible explanation. What about the alternate theories that last year’s demonstrations got them nowhere, so they passed this year, or that they were afraid to show up due to recent raids of business resulting in detention of illegals?
I think there was a huge backlash from their marches last year ,and pictures of them taking down the American flag and raising the Mexican flag are still circulating the internet. Their ” in your face” attitude and demands astounded a lot of Americans.
I’ll bet the vast majority of those showing up at the rallies this year are US citizens, the hispanic/latino poverty pimps that want to exploit the illegals.

Yes and that is why there has been a complete turn around by Bush, Congress and Perry. Not. Immigration reform was being hotly discussed at this time last year, they won. What to protest?
Incongruity?
Asking if they are valuable citizens or not.
Setting aside the obvious pro-illegal bias here, let’s simply looking at the lack of intelligence of the writers…
DUDE! THEY AIN’T CITIZENS AT ALL. THAT’S, LIKE, THE WHOLE POINT!
Marijuana probably kept them away from the protests and made them paranoid of being arrested.
Isn’t the word illegal a synonym for criminal?
Yep it is, I asked my 12 year old if he thought there was a difference and he said they meant the same thing. So I guess he’s over qualified to be a journalist already.
