Mayor White’s plan to effectively control business outside the city limits hit a snag in the state Senate:
AUSTIN — Mayor Bill White’s plans to clean up Houston’s air were dealt a blow Tuesday when the Senate tentatively passed a measure that would prohibit local governments from regulating pollution coming from outside their boundaries.
The man needs to remember that he is mayor, not king.

What did he think he was going to do if we had a repeat of a couple of years ago when we had all the smoke from the fires in Mexico?
From the website below, I discovered that 60% of methane emissions are from manmade activities, and 40% are totally natural. Of the 40%, 76% is from naturally occurring nature related activities in wetlands, and 11% is from termites. Therefore, if we eliminate all the wetlands in the world, and chop down all the trees which the termites eat, we can immediately eliminate over 1/3 of the ozone depleting methane in the world!

Of the remaining 60% that is man made (see website), it looks like since 1990, we have made significant progress in the reduction of methane, except in two areas. First is animal belching and manure production (not much we can do about that), and second is waste water management – A GOVERNMENT FUNCTION.
My proposal is that liberals not produce so much human waste. They are eating way too much and are so full of BS that it’s driving up those numbers. So let’s save the environment and starve a liberal!
I think the city could have done a lot to clean the air by checking for current insurance and current inspections of all vehicles towed by Safe Clear. The cars that break down are likely those that are not well-maintained and thus the source of a disproportionate amount of pollution.
The cars without insurance should have been held until proof of insurance was provided. Those without current inspections should have been released only after the owner posted a sizable bond, refundable when the owner provided proof of a legitimate inspection.
And none of this month to month insurance. Six month policy. And in the event you cause a wreck and your insurance has lapsed, they tow your vehicle to storage and a lien is placed on it that can only be released by the person you hit. That would solve alot of illegal problems!
#1 C’mon, Big Iron, if it’s pollution coming in from Mexico, oh, now that would be different than our home grown variety!!!
I’m sure the One-World-Order mantra that our so-called ‘leaders’ advocate would dictate looking the other way if it we’re Mexican………can’t bend over far enough to accomodate them, ya know!
