When Ms Crow’s wildly publisized plan to save the world was announced she developed diarhea of the mouth. Her staff ingeniously made a rack for those pesky times….. and tally her excess carbon usage as she leaves the room.

  8. Adee on May 5th, 2007 at 10:24 am

    So many choices up there.

Seriously, the proliferation of choices for a single product has gotten way out of reason. You can’t easily find your favorite toothpaste any more. You have to wade through a gazillion packages all bearing the same brand name and almost the same color but with different ingredients plus the basic one you came shopping for. And sometimes you can’t find the plain old one without the extras. Toothpaste is just an example of choice overkill–it’s everywhere.

What started out as intelligent marketing for different tastes has grown into a headache-causing monster for shoppers.

Poor John, He just dont get no rispect

Send your Congressman a message that he/she belongs in the toilet.

Here’s a deal that voters won’t want to miss out on. For a modest donation of $5.00 the name of a chosen elected official will be placed on a roll of toilet paper. Said roll will be used in a Port-A-Potty at the D.C. March for America rally June 14-16.

  13. southerntragedy on May 5th, 2007 at 1:40 pm

Slow day at work, so I was reading The Villager and this letter to the editor caught my eye:

Assuming that the Congress would actually agree with Harry, I think the next logical step would be to negotiate the terms of surrender (Isn’t that what you do when you lose a war?).
I would suggest that the surrender negotiating team be comprised of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Chuck Schumer, John Murtha and Dennis Kucinich. This team should be dispatched immediately to the mountains of Pakistan to search for elements of Al-Qaeda to discuss the terms of a U.S. surrender. After all, who else can we surrender to? Nancy may want to keep a headscarf on, because I believe this may be one of the terms of any agreement.

    Interesting~

Sleeping Beauty, Tom Thumb, and Quasimodo were all talking one day.

Sleeping Beauty said, “I believe myself to be the most beautiful girl in the world.

Tom Thumb said, “I must be the smallest person in the world.”

Quasimodo said, “I absolutely have to be the most disgusting person in the world.”

So they all decided to go to the Guinness Book of World Records to have their claims verified.

Sleeping Beauty went in first and came out looking deliriously happy.

“It’s official, I AM the most beautiful girl in the world.”

Tom Thumb went next and emerged triumphant, “I am now officially the smallest person in the world.”

Sometime later, Quasimodo comes out looking utterly confused and says., “Who the hell is Rosie O’Donnell ?”

  33. EricPJohnson on May 6th, 2007 at 3:06 am

Looking at all the anti Bush and Perry and Republican postings its easy to confuse the reality

Here is my Post from Dan goes to Austin

    Hey,

It was expected of everyone else right? With a 50-50 tie in 2000 (2002-2006 dashle, Reid blocked everything) everyone expected the Republicans to eliminate social security and medicare and deport all illegals - this blogs management has blasted Bush and Perry for being unable to do it or do what no other politicians have done….

Ask if Dans passed tax reform yet, everyone gets testy

Cause it is what it is?

Dan said he would get it done if he can’t he either needs to communicate that or get out of the way

Passing an Ultrasound is nice, passing legislation that the guy who get the unfortunate girl pregnant is 100% responsible financially or mandatory jail time (10 to 20 years) until the child is 25 would be alot more effective and well the right thing to do.

That will end abortion, maybe rampant promiscuity as well

I listened to 4 years of hype 4 upsetting painful years of it: first there was Clout, then the bus Trip, then the Lawsuit, then the campaign, then the election, then the statesmen, then what, when Dan when? And why a cap without rate limits?

    And crickets chirping

  34. EricPJohnson on May 6th, 2007 at 3:13 am

I guess what I’m trying to say is this

Dans passing good but still 1/2 measures

This has been the problem we need whole measure 1/2 never got an improvement.

If he passes a 3% cap he deserves to be governor

If he passes a 5% cap, he should resign vause its about the same as the average annual increase

  35. sunny on May 6th, 2007 at 3:14 am

Rampant promiscuity is almost as bad as a herd of rampant elephants!

  36. EricPJohnson on May 6th, 2007 at 3:17 am

Yeah sunny but the girl is always left with the emotional burden of considering an abortion or raising the child without help

Making it illegal curbs even elephants!

Hey Eric: As I was eating my midnight snack, there was a commercial about ANOTHER recall of a drug called Plavix. I know you are so gung-ho on the HPV vaccine, but still NO long-term study. Go ahead and inject your daughter. I’d like to hear from you again in about 15 years, or when your daughter has her 1st born child. O.K.? I’m not trying to be mean or snide, but wake up and smell the coffee, babe. Drugs are being pushed upon us without LONG TERM STUDIES! How many drugs have been recalled as of to date? You tell me, I’ve lost count!

  39. EricPJohnson on May 6th, 2007 at 4:16 am

    ST

No vaccine has a long term study, ever if it did you and I still would not have gotten our polio vaccines cause after all a 20 year study would have meant that the vaccine would have been given for the first time in the early 80’s

its already been under study for nearly a decade and in that time 30,000 women have died and 1/2 million ravaged by cancer

    Eric

And why a cap without rate limits?

Limiting the rate was never on the table specifically to allow officials to increase the rate if they needed to. Of course it would be a recorded vote which they do not like.

  41. Elizabeth on May 6th, 2007 at 6:27 am

#37 ST - I agree with you. Hormone replacement therapy for women is a good example of how little the medical profession truly knows what long term consequences may occur. They have flip-flopped over the decades of saying:
    1. A woman needs it to protect her heart to it CAUSES heart disease. Or -
    2. A woman needs it to prevent cervical or breast cancer to it CAUSES cervical or breast cancer.
IMO, Antibiotics and aspirin are God’s greatest gifts to the medical profession - and I don’t trust much more…

    GoodJobtim

Thanks for emphasising my point, the locals will just keep going to the courts to get the limit raised the only way to get real tax reform - ie not a metaphysical bandaide - is to actually set phyiscal limits

need to lower that tax rate to a very small amount cause appraisals will always then be 3% in 24 years your taxes will double

  46. EricPJohnson on May 6th, 2007 at 7:26 am

Or just get rid of it and set up sales taxes on food like many states do

And combine school districts why is there Magnolia, Spring, Klein, Cy-Fair, Tomball, Woodlands not one district would save the Tax Payers at least 100 asst superintends salaries

If we combined the 1100 school districts into 500 it would be a huge savings.

If we combined 3,000 plus water districts into 600 it would be huge savings

If we got rid of the Precinct Police system it would be huge savings

Why oh why do we have sooo many governmental groups?

Also, get rid of non teachers in the school set a cap of 2 - 1

This would easily save 15% of the entire state budget

    Anyone proposing that, Yet?

  47. dowjones25k on May 6th, 2007 at 7:28 am

yep those school taxes here in waller isd pay for nurseries in the high school. you are teaching spanish and illegals with your tax dollars - does it feel good?

its your repooplican texas (taxes) party that said they would fix it if you would elect them in tha last election cycle. instead you got the broom handle!

vote democrat get these a$$holes out of office - do it up and down the ticket. the worse it gets with the dems more of the repoops will be forced out of their positions in the party and go back to the dem party.

vote no on all school bonds - make them solve this mess!

  48. EricPJohnson on May 6th, 2007 at 7:29 am

And let high school booster clubs and attendence fees pay for coaches - go to klein High school, heck at one time they had three golf coaches till I brought it up at a board meeting

They said Mr. Johnson they also teach classes

Went to the school, they taught ONE COURSE EACH,

350,000 in salaries, retirement and bennies per year for a dozen students to play a stupid game, and for three classes and all the free golfing you can get in!

Smacktle - go for that job!

  50. dowjones25k on May 6th, 2007 at 7:36 am

Mornin’ All! Here’s a Sunday funny before we’re off to Church and to thank God for another glorious day!

A cocky Department of Agriculture representative stopped at a farm and talked with an old farmer. He told the farmer, “I need to inspect your
    farm.”
The old farmer said “OK, but don’t go in that field right over yonder.”
The Agriculture representative said, “Mr. I have the authority of the U.S. Government with me. See this card? This card means I am allowed to go
WHEREVER I wish on any agricultural land - no questions asked or answered. Do you understand?”
The farmer nodded politely and went about his farm chores. Later, he heard loud screams and saw the Department of Agriculture Rep running for the
fence and close behind was the farmer’s huge-horned prize bull. The Bull was madder than a nest full of hornets. The bull was gaining on the Rep at
    every step.
The old farmer called out, “Show him your card!! Show him your card!!”

eric i did some consulting work for hisd - talk about a corupt and disorganized mess there is one.

these school supers make as much as many folks in the private sector. the ones that get the shaft are the teachers and the aides. although if you look at it they only work 9 months for their money.

the retirement is good but the medical has no cap on it. soon it could grow to be 50% of some of the aides and 30% of the teachers retirement.

“It won’t matter if they find it since they didn’t leave it on the charger last night and the battery is dead. So you might as well leave a message with me and I’ll have them call you after the 4 hour handset recharge period is completed.”

You didn’t whoops. Defrag comapacts the info on your hard drive so that it is not scattered. It is a good thing to do.

You also need to do a scandisk/ckdsk. this attempts to repair anything that is broken.

    1. Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk that you want to check.
    2. Click Properties, and then click Tools.
    3. Under Error-checking, click Check Now. A dialog box that shows the Check disk options is displayed,
    4. Place a check on both the boxes that you find there.
    5 Click Start.

you will receive the following message:

The disk check could not be performed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some Windows files on the disk. These files can be accessed by restarting Windows. Do you want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer?

    6. Click Yes to schedule the disk check, and then restart your computer to start the disk check.

Go ahead and restart your computer and just let it do its thing. You will see a “warning” that a scan has been scheduled just don’t do nuttin.

The operation takes about an hour to complete.

  65. Squawkbox Noise on May 6th, 2007 at 10:02 am

A 403 error code received from a web page has nothing to do with your personal confuser. The web page your trying to access is being a butt head and refusing connection for some reason.

If it is your personal confuser it could be caused by spyware that maybe residing on your machine. There are some trojans that ping websites and the website is set up to recognize this and will block. If you have a good anti-virus and it is up to date this should not be a problem.

Do run your anti-virus program to check just the same.

  76. BSue on May 6th, 2007 at 11:15 am

#75 EPJ Yep… all the time. Part of that comes from the fact that the Houston location of the national company for which I work does, primarily, IFTs (inter-facility transports)… Meaning the patients, some of whom are still quite ill, have been (for the most part) cleaned and nicely packaged before we start the transfer from the hospital that can’t provide what they need to the hospital that can. The nurses know that all of our crew members are NOT paramedics, but are not really sure what the difference between EMT, EMT-Intermediate, and EMT-Paramedic are… so they just call everyone “medics” (preferable) or “ambulance drivers”… as in, “Oh good - this patient won’t die in my hospital - the AMBULANCE DRIVERS are here!”

I called one of those ladies on the plane “Stewardess” Friday night. She tersely corrected me, “We’re called ‘Flight Attendants’ now!” Yeah, whatever, just bring me a beer. Buh-bye.

Another thing on this trip - the pilot and copilot were both women. I believe that’s the first time that’s happened on a flight I was on, which seems kind of surprising this day and age.

  82. Elizabeth on May 6th, 2007 at 12:02 pm

#81 Poor Hammie, held captive in the friendly skies by (Eek Gads!) women… ;)

  83. Neocon on May 6th, 2007 at 12:24 pm

Hammie, those weren’t pilots - they were airplane drivers! ;)

  84. Elizabeth on May 6th, 2007 at 12:48 pm

    #83 Lol! Good one Neo!

  85. Elizabeth on May 6th, 2007 at 12:49 pm

    Off for a date w/ Spiderman. Laters….

  86. gadboy on May 6th, 2007 at 1:40 pm

#68-I was a trucker. So you see thatmeans libs can be macho men also.

  87. bigjolly on May 6th, 2007 at 2:43 pm

So much for Roger Clemens coming to the Astros rescue.

  88. raiderdav on May 6th, 2007 at 3:16 pm

Stupid Yankees - the Astros have one less win.

  89. Oblio on May 6th, 2007 at 3:44 pm

Screw Clemens; he dicked around last season and cost us the division title.

    Good riddance.

  90. BSue on May 6th, 2007 at 3:53 pm

How nauseating - Clemens in the owner’s box, saying “Ya’ll came and got me from Texas and it’s a privalege to be back.”
I think maybe Oblio does have a point - GOOD RIDDANCE!

  91. BSue on May 6th, 2007 at 3:55 pm

Oh - yeah… and at $4.5 million a month, “it’s not about the money.”

  92. Squawkbox Noise on May 6th, 2007 at 4:29 pm

    Re: Gadboy/Trucker

And I can and will vouch that Gadboy was a damn good trucker.

Now the macho-man stuff well ummmm Gaddy you are on your own with that one Amigo. ;)

  93. Squawkbox Noise on May 6th, 2007 at 4:43 pm

    Re: Clemens

4.5 million a month is a whole bunch of healin for the body ehhh Rodger? Good riddance.

    Squawk

ROFL. When I read your ‘macho-man” in the same line with Gaddy, images of Village people band comes to mind. I have this vision of Gaddy being one of them on stage singing. He definitely doesn’t have macho written all over him.
    *snikker*

  95. Squawkbox Noise on May 6th, 2007 at 5:06 pm

    Re: Gadboy/Trucker
    #86

And another thing about Gaddy (and I am serious) he was a damn good salesman. Gaddy was my competition in those days and I had a tough time competing with HIM….not his products. Our customers respected him and in that industry that we competed that was saying alot.

He and I may not agree politically but in the business world even though we competed against each other he treated me with respect and was worthy competition.

End of Rant and love fest……

  96. Oblio on May 6th, 2007 at 5:18 pm

Well I guess that puts to rest those vicious rumors that Gadboy and I are one and the same!

  97. Squawkbox Noise on May 6th, 2007 at 5:21 pm

    Oblio

Dang man, Gaddy oughta be highly urinated about that rumor.

    Just kiddin with ya homie.

  98. bigjolly on May 6th, 2007 at 5:24 pm

Which one of the guys is gaddy? I’m hopin’ it isn’t the cowboy, I’m sorta partial to him.

  99. marc on May 6th, 2007 at 5:25 pm

This is why we are better off with a few RINOs in office than clueless Dems. You “teach them a lesson” folks are going to screw all of our lives up. This is the ¿ ¿ ¿ “Intellegence committee” What is wrong here? Do you really want more of this krap? I may have to move to Wyoming. No one would waste the time puting a bomb there.

You “teach them a lesson” folks are going to screw all of our lives up.

Sure blame it on folks that want change. I suppose you keep the RINO people are not at fault for not holding their feet to the fire.

Fear the Democrats!!!!! is one hell of a platform to run on ehhh Marc?

    I demand better.

I was thinking the hard hat construction worker minus the mustache. :)

  103. Squawkbox Noise on May 6th, 2007 at 5:44 pm

There are no RINOs. They are all Republicans. You are implying that the elected part of the Republican Party as a whole is Conservative and they are not. The liberal wing of the Republican party is in control of the party.

Conservatives did not vote for the Democrats. They either skipped boxes or stayed home.

  104. JRB on May 6th, 2007 at 5:51 pm

EPJ, I agree with you that there are too many school districts in Texas, but, IMHO your suggestion is not practical. Look at HISD, it is the largest and probably worst in the state. Most ISD’s are very top heavy and could cut addministrative staff very easily, but, it’s a good place to put people right before they retire so they max out their TRI benefits.

  105. Neocon on May 6th, 2007 at 6:12 pm

    BSue & Oblio

Good riddance to Clemens! Wonder what this is going to do to his son in the minors.

  106. Neocon on May 6th, 2007 at 6:15 pm

Squawk & Gadboy love fest! Woo hoo!

I’ve met Gadboy and he’s a decent person. Just wrong on his politics, but he doesn’t shove it down your throat like a lot of libs. He also doesn’t resort to calling people names. I respect him for that. In fact, if he would just smile more, I think we could convert him to the dark side! ;)

  107. american woman on May 6th, 2007 at 6:40 pm

Lots of folks, including me, have been commenting over at hotair.com about the French elections. I am most optimistic about the way the country voted. Conservative candidate won/socialist candidate lost. I believe Europe is slowly turning away from socialism (i.e., Germany and France) and towards conservative values. Both countries have expressed intentions to rebuild their relations with the U.S. Maybe the Euros are realizing the threat of Islamofacsists and seek to rebuild relations with the U.S. Both countries have indicated their willingness to work with the U.S. That’s a good thing.

Squawk was nothing more than an over paid forklift operator.

Clements is in it for the money. The Astros would never pay him 28 million like the Yankees did.

  123. marc on May 6th, 2007 at 8:25 pm

OK Sheryl Crow, Give me back my last post.

4.5 million a month says he is lying out his arse.
