So far I like the ’straight talk’ from this man. It will be interesting to see what plays out if he decides to seek the Presidential nomination.

  2. DanielJames on May 22nd, 2007 at 10:58 am

I heard him yesterday on the Savage Nation. He said to not let up and never take our eye off this issue and that the senate and Bush were going to do whatever they had to to make this nightmare happen.

Burglars don’t make good house guests…

    Run Fred Run!!!!

  4. little mike on May 22nd, 2007 at 11:04 am

Fred is our best hope. Tancredo and Hunter don’t have a chance.

BTW - Maybe there’s something that Iran can teach us about deporting illegal invaders:

The Bush-Kennedy spin machine is desperately trying to say this
Is not an amnesty bill. We just received a copy of the actual
Bill (all 326 pages) and amnesty wasn’t hard to find because
It STARTED ON PAGE 1, LINE 1!

The very first line of the bill makes it clear that illegals
Get “probationary status” before any border security triggers
Are implemented. Once given this legal status, the bill expressly
States that a former illegal alien “may not be considered an
    Unauthorized alien.” This is amnesty!

  6. vlou on May 22nd, 2007 at 11:26 am

How is France going to deport these illegal aliens (what mode of transportation are they going to use and to what countries will they be deported back to?) - it will be interesting if that actually happens. Vive la France!

  7. jacampbell on May 22nd, 2007 at 11:37 am

If France can deport 25,000 and the US is at least 5 times larger than France in population we should be able to remove 125,000 just to play even. All of this family situation and future economic concerns is a cover-up for the amnesty wanted by so many politicians to corner the latino voting block. My Christian tendency is for compassion to families, but the act of being here illegal to start with wipes the slate on any other issues. There are social penalties for crimes against society/gov’t no matter to situation. You have to pay for your actions eventually (and pay does not mean $5000).

Fred is a Cowboy, and we sure need one right now. I in good conscience cannot vote for none of the above. Fred America Needs You!!!!

  9. An Observer on May 22nd, 2007 at 11:54 am

The illegals claim they are paying taxes. However, studies indicate that for each dollars paid they receive three in some sort of subsidy. Some sneer that we can’t deport 12 million. Well, I say yes we can. They didn’t all get here in a month, it would take a while, but it can be done. Take away the ‘free’ stuff and some will leave. Take away their illegal job and more will leave. Round up more as you find them and ship-em out. If they want to work here, come here legally. I don’t want my tax dollars supporting them and their families while the commit crimes that Americans usually won’t commit.

  10. trl3 on May 22nd, 2007 at 12:10 pm

I really like the part where ILLEGALS are upset with the bill because they think they should not have to pay $5,000.00 or back taxes. They also want to be able to brung in unlimited numbers of family members.

I say defeat the amnesty bill, secure the border, and send all the ILLEGALS the hell home.

  11. Unhyphenated_American on May 22nd, 2007 at 12:18 pm

I say deportation will not happen! Just watch!

  12. trl3 on May 22nd, 2007 at 12:20 pm

    #11

If deportation does not happen it will be because the intestinal fortitude to do the right thing just was not available.

  13. raiderdav on May 22nd, 2007 at 12:31 pm

… hence, deportation will never happen.

Our government doesn’t even have the intestinal fortitude to do what needs to be done in a war zone - there’s no reason to believe they’ll make the difficult decisions here at home.

  14. Unhyphenated_American on May 22nd, 2007 at 12:40 pm

Well unfortunately what will result will be amnesty and not reform.

  15. Shannon on May 22nd, 2007 at 12:45 pm

Come on, Fred. Get your butt in the race.

  16. Adee on May 22nd, 2007 at 1:09 pm

Fred and Newt have been on the same page regarding the bastard immigration bill and the serious threat terrorism poses. Both need to get into the race soon. The level of liberal sniping at each is increasing, meaning they worry the libs moreso than somewhat. So keep on giving them nightmares, gentlemen.

  17. lecard on May 22nd, 2007 at 1:14 pm

How bad is this that the arrogant French get it and we are giving our country away………………..

France’s minister of immigration and national identity, a new ministry created by President Nicolas Sarkozy, has ruled out legalizing undocumented immigrants en masse.

How ironic after decades of Socialism which has killed France they now are heading conservative while we are heading down the toilet towards Socialism. Beyond sickening.

  18. An Observer on May 22nd, 2007 at 2:17 pm

How great wold it be; a Republican ticket with Fred and Newt?

  19. Ree-C Murphey on May 22nd, 2007 at 2:36 pm

I understand Hell is freezing over… they are getting ready to ride sleighs and have snowball fights.

I am at a loss; to think the French are getting *something* right on immigration…

  20. tedtam on May 22nd, 2007 at 4:43 pm

    This is truly scary.

Is this a sign of the end times? When idiot countries show common sense and leader countries are complete idiots?

  21. Mike S on May 22nd, 2007 at 5:08 pm

The French were one of our most important allies during the revolutionary war. It is not the first time they have “gotten something right”, and perhaps the description of “idiot” country is rather a poor and incorrect perception of one the world’s few nuclear powers (they were number 4 to join the club).

I’ve never looked at the Statue Of Liberty as a gift from “idiots”.

  22. american woman on May 22nd, 2007 at 5:32 pm

It’s important we keep screaming about this idiotic plan to our senators. The sentence that says, GW is determined to make this happen, is horrifying. I am hearing that our elected officials are shocked that we constituents are so angry over this wonderful bill. Are they all brain damaged? I have lost faith.

  23. Chuck on May 22nd, 2007 at 5:35 pm

I have come to the conclusion whatever immigration bill is passed, or for that matter if one passes at all, is immaterial.

The laws we have aren’t enforced, why should we expect any new ones to be seriously enforced (except of course for a few shows).

    Chuck

  24. An Observer on May 22nd, 2007 at 5:56 pm

I have come to the conclusion that our congressional ‘leadership’ is non-existent. We vote them into office to be our voice, but what we get is a sell-out to the pressure of Washington and potential power. I fear we are doomed as a Nation.

  25. Neocon on May 22nd, 2007 at 8:36 pm

Chuck, I agree, enforce the laws on the books right now. Forget additional laws, which will not be enforced anyway. Feel good legislation is what we are getting. It makes the legislators “feel good” despite what the voters want.

  26. Neocon on May 22nd, 2007 at 8:51 pm

Run Fred! run! He is only a few weeks or days from announcing. He will run and he will win! If nothing else, immigration reform will be one of his platforms. No amnesty to illegals and he could win this country 85%!

  27. southerntragedy on May 22nd, 2007 at 10:00 pm

#25 and 26 Neocon, Right on! Sad thing is, that when I talk about him, nobody knows who he is. /but I’m fixin’ that

  28. jlange on May 23rd, 2007 at 1:29 pm

Deportation would be easier if we didn’t let them back in. Let’s see, how many times can they be caught and sent back?

Don’t tell me they don’t pay taxes on their earnings (sales tax helps a little). They are paid “off the books” and then send most of the money back home, so even more consumer spending is lost. If you want to work here, then pay a premium on top of the taxes you owe, or become a citizen, else fight to improve your own country.

Also penalize employers of illegal workers. The benefits of “legal” employment are labor laws to prevent abuse, unsafe work conditions, and a minimum wage.

My prayers to the families but what are you teaching your children? It’s OK to ignore all laws if it benefits you, then complain when it doesn’t benefit you.
