Hmmm, we have President Bush wanting to open the borders and give amnesty (yes I used the “A” word) to the illegal aliens to do the jobs that Americans won’t do and here we have the RNC firing solicitors. Won’t those folks need those jobs?
(WashingtonTimes) The Republican National Committee, hit by a grass-roots donors’ rebellion over President Bush’s immigration policy, has fired all 65 of its telephone solicitors, The Washington Times has learned.
Faced with an estimated 40 percent falloff in small-donor contributions and aging phone-bank equipment that the RNC said would cost too much to update, Anne Hathaway, the committee’s chief of staff, summoned the solicitations staff and told them they were out of work, effective immediately, fired staff members told The Times.
Correlation = causation, Jolly?
Several of the solicitors fired at the May 24 meeting reported declining contributions and a donor backlash against the immigration proposals now being pushed by Mr. Bush and Senate Republicans.
“Every donor in 50 states we reached has been angry, especially in the last month and a half, and for 99 percent of them immigration is the No. 1 issue,” said a fired phone bank employee who said the severance pay the RNC agreed to pay him was contingent on his not criticizing the national committee.
And finally, proof positive that the RNC is in a drastic state of denial:
A spokeswoman for the committee denied any drop-off in fundraising.
“Any assertion that overall donations have gone down is patently false,” RNC spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt wrote by e-mail yesterday in response to questions sent by The Times. “We continue to out-raise our Democrat counterpart by a substantive amount (nearly double).”
Collecting double is really easy to do when the DNC is faced with the same consternation from their base.
During my trucking days, I learned that it was a major insult to leave a penny tip for a waitress. I wonder if the RNC would take the hint if we returned their solicitations for donations with a penny? Probably not.

Why should we think that the penny donation would make an impression on the RNC, when Governor Goodhair acted like he thought they were REAL donations (remember the $0.01 check campaign?)
While correlation does not necessarily equal causation, it may mean there’s SOMETHING there. So. Is it worth investigating?
Governor MoFo was just playing off what he knew was a snub. Bring on the $.02 checks to the RNC! It will cost them more to process them than it adds to their coffers! On the memo line, just note that we’re paying for the illegals that politicians just won’t pay for!
Maybe the RNC should start soliciting all those new voters they anticipate getting once they give them AMNESTY.
I heard someone say that anyone that calls this comprehensive plan amnesty is fear mongering. Have to search for the link, can’t remember who that was…

I don’t watch OH’Really as a rule, but hell there was nothing else on. Snow’s body language, voice inflection and facial expressions revealed pure disdain for anyone that disagrees.
I can sum up his entire attitude with 3 words.

I think they may be confused about who will show whom. Last week I figured it would pass the Senate and struggle in the House. Now, I’m not so sure it’ll get out of the Senate. Each side is gonna start tacking on amendments that make it unpalatable for the other side and any coalition will crumble. And I don’t think it has a Tony Snowball’s chance in Hell with the House. Then it will be all us fear mongers fault.

Laura Ingraham says she has known Tony Snow for years and his ego is huge. I liked him on Fox. I don’t like him as voicebox for the President. I wouldnt want his job. Snow can go on the road all he wants, he can’t fix this. And if I am paying for the trip, he better stay home.

I told him I had contributed from 1978 through 2006. However due to my outrate over the D***ed traitor in the Whitehouse, I was done with them and hung up.

TEX06 - I had one call about 3 or 4 weeks ago for the same thing - wanted a hand-out/contribution. Guess we’re on that same list of previous contributors. I asked him if I could donate 2 cents due to my disgust w/ the Prez and the RHINO’s for forsaking their Conservative Base. Flabbergasted the boy at first. He didn’t say a word for at least 5 full seconds. Then he asked me if I was joking. When I didn’t laugh and told him I was serious, he got snitty. So told him to please remove me from their list and hung up. Dumb A$$e$ will never learn!

One of the RNC solicitors called me Saturday morning, so I guess not ENOUGH of them were fired. I gave the poor woman a piece of my mind (probably more than I could spare). She actually thought Cornyn was doing the right thing (but didn’t understand the vote for cloture issue). Oh well. (I wish I could say that in Spanish).
