There are no amendments that will turn this sow’s ear into a silk purse. We must fight on if this country is to survive. I still can’t believe elected Republicans would do this to this great nation. For Dems of course it comes naturally. Viva la revelution!

Check out what Oklahoma did. Surely the reason this story is not front and center is the vast gov media complex. We want our freaking country back!

    http://www.okhouse.gov/OkhouseMedia/pressroom.aspx?NewsID=1186

OKLAHOMA CITY (May 1, 2007) – An Oklahoma immigration reform measure called perhaps the most meaningful in the nation is on its way to the governor’s desk after passage by the state House Tuesday. House Bill 1804 passed by a vote of 84 to 14.

HB 1804 also has the support of two national immigration reform advocacy groups, and has been called the single most significant step that any state has taken in this area and one of the nation’s toughest anti-illegal immigration laws.

“This breakthrough legislation represents the clear will of the people of Oklahoma. It is a strong reform measure that is a major step in the right direction,” said Speaker Lance Cargill (R-Harrah). “We have a duty to uphold Oklahoma’s rule of law. Illegal immigration is a hidden tax on hardworking families in this state. It’s costing us hundreds of millions of dollars a year. The federal government has ignored the problem. It’s time for us to take action at the state level.”

Cargill added that, given the governor’s silence on the issue of illegal immigration so far this legislative session, he hoped the governor would not attempt last-minute stalling tactics to stop reform and protect the status quo.

“Given the governor’s recent pattern of vetoing needed reforms this year, I think there’s real concern about whether he will sign this bill. I call on him to sign this legislation without delay,” said Cargill.

“For too long, our nation and our state have looked the other way and ignored a growing illegal immigration crisis,” said Rep. Randy Terrill (R-Moore), author of HB 1804. “Oklahoma’s working families should not be forced to subsidize illegal immigration. With passage of House Bill 1804, we will end that burden on our citizens.”

In my honest opinion this bill if passed will benefit only the companies seeking cheap labor and will work to the detriment of the United States. By giving Amnesty to 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants we will immediately burden our medical, educational and welfare system with an overload that will cripple these services and the cost will have to be borne by the taxpayers already paying into the system.

The backers of this bill consist of mainly the large corporations that stand to benefit from cheap labor. This “cheap” labor is grossly misunderstood. As a senior citizen I am working for $ 10.00 per hour and paying taxes, social security, medical etc out of my earnings. The day labor camps in this area demand $ 10.00 per hour, 8 hour minimum, lunch to be supplied and they pay no social security, no taxes, no medical and when they need medical they fill our county hospital system emergency rooms. This is cheap labor ?

It has been a long while since we (and by “we” I mean ALL Americans) have been in such a direct confrontation with our government. Normally we entrust our elected officials to deal with the ugly process of “making sausage” in congress. And we expect them to represent our interests while doing that.

This time the process has spilt into the public arena, and we are beginning to see exactly how deceitful and underhanded it really is. And in this instance we are seeing that the deceitful stratagems and plots of lawmaking are not arrayed against opponents on the hill, but against us, the [gullible, naïve, clueless impotent] American voting public.

This started as and will remain a direct struggle of the American voter against our own elected representatives, the national business associations, and their K Street political whores. It’s clear that Congress and the President now realize they are in a direct assault against us and they will do anything to win, no matter how transparent, ruthless, unethical, or destructive. We are witnessing an unprecedented exercise of corrupt and ruthless power being exercised against the average American citizen, without any restraint or shame whatsoever.

It’s now beyond argument that certain members of Congress and George W Bush are aligned, plotting, and scheming against the American people. This is not representative government.. It’s naked and shameless tyranny.

Our founders warned us of this 230 years ago. They were not kidding

For those of you having difficulty getting thru to your senator, here is the 800 # paid for by the Mexican Amnesty Activists:

    800-882-2005

This will get you directly to your senator unlike the #’s available to the US Citizen.

Press 1 when you hear a Spanish message, then Press 1 again to be transferred to your senior senator’s office

    OR

Press 2 when you hear a Spanish message, and you’ll be transferred to your junior senator’s office.

You get through immediately and the call is paid for by those for pro-immigration!

    15 - DOV

    You are incorrect.

Cheap labor is not a wage set by employers or the employee. It is a wage set by the market place. All American enjoy cheap prices on goods & services. When was the last time a homeowner needing to replace a roof asked the roofing company to bid the job using “Bacon” wages vs. illegal immigrant labor?

T.E.I.R. Texas Employers for Immigration Reform - is a very large group representing a lot of Americans who DIRECTLY benefit from their success. If we do not give these employers the labor needed to keep their machines running - then all we will be doing is sending these businesses into a tailspin.

The reason we need a constant flow of guest workers to fill certain jobs is simply because Americans are not having enough children. The census already tells us that there are only so many 16 - 24 years olds today. And it also tells us how many six year olds there are. Do the math. If the economy is to continue to grow - then who is to fill those jobs??

If we were to deport 12 million people over night, or even over 10 YEARS, then how in the hell are we going to fill those jobs that would be vacated?

If “path to citizenship” is what those who oppose any immigration plan by congress call “Amnesty” - then give me your solution that makes sense and that will actually work.

    SECURE OUR BORDERS!

    REGISTER THOSE WHO ARE HERE!

Then -and only then - will our focus change to from immigration to the war on Iraq to finally bring home our kids. It is time for Iraqis to spill only their blood if they truly want what we have paid so high a price for - to work!

    Go Bush!
    Go Giuliani!
    Go Spurs!

    Gibonno :)

Thanks for reposting this! I just used this procedure to let KBH and Cornyn know that I oppose any sort of amnesty for people here illegally.

    #21

I didn’t see anywhere in your “math” the costs to our society, direct or indirect, that come with having such a large influx of illegals. Sure, you may be getting your roof done cheap, but the savings you enjoy are just getting passed on to the rest of us, and even back onto yourself, though you may be too dumb or disingenuous to realize it. I submit that you’re paying more for that roof, not less, once you figure in the burdens placed on our infrastructure, health, culture, and society by these illegals.

Not relevant. We’re talking about people who are in this country illegally, not legal immigration.

    24. yeah but its the same mentality and bigotry that went on then… they too feared that the immigrants would never adapt… they would destroy American Culture…

What you are saying is illogical. You are saying:

    a) The Know-Nothings feared X .
    b) GriffithLea fears X .
    c) GriffithLea is a Know-Nothing.

#26 You can’t bring logic to a discussion when someone else is playing the race card. The race card trumps logic like ‘paper covers rock’.

    But… you’re right.

  28. klayman on June 15th, 2007 at 3:12 pm

It’s fairly simple, but not easy. assuming we need guest workers, then hire guest workers, but leave their families at home. No path to citizenship, proof of medical insurance, no permanent residence. If we need more American immigrants, then let those who are educated, speak English and those who want to swear alligence to America immigrate. Enforce the laws on the books that penalize employers of illegals. And close the borders, and deport those who are not guest workers and not legal.

I think we only need so many workers because of the demands of the illegals on our systems. How many less foreign teachers would we need without 4million illigal children in school (and buildings and buse etc). How many roads would need widened without illegals driving on them (remember Houston on a day without illegals?). It is a perpetual motion machine

Illegal Immigrant Rights? The only right they have is to play ‘Mother May I come into the US” and “mother” can say ‘yes, you may’ or ‘no, you may not’, Or ‘move back two spaces’, But I see absolutely no right to immigrate into this or any other country.

Here is a perfect song for G.W. Bush to sing to his illegal alien friends:

    Come And Get It

    Written by Paul McCartney

If you want it, here it is, come and get it
    Make your mind up fast
If you want it anytime, I can give it
But you better hurry ’cause it may not last

Did I hear you say that there must be a catch
Will you walk away from a fool and his money
If you want it here it is, come and get it
But you better hurry ’cause it’s going fast

If you want it, here it is, come and get it
    Make your mind up fast
If you want it anytime, I can give it
But you better hurry ’cause it may not last

Did I hear you say that there must be a catch
Will you walk away from a fool and his money, sonny
If you want it here it is, come and get it
But you better hurry ’cause it’s going fast
You better hurry ’cause it’s going fast
    Fool and his money, sonny

If you want it here it is, come and get it
But you better hurry ’cause it’s going fast
You better hurry ’cause it’s going fast
You better hurry ’cause it’s going fast
