Trent Lott forgets how talk radio works. Talk radio has listeners. Listeners who listen. When they agree or like what they hear, they keep listening. Listening causes the radio station to keep the talk radio personality talking. That talk generates revenue for the station, selling commercials, keeping it on the air.

Trent needs to STOP talking and do more listening if he wants the GOP to stay in business. We the listeners have spoken.

Lest Senor Trent forget Air America and it’s lack of listenership and failure………..

  3. Zippy_Slug on June 15th, 2007 at 10:47 am

I’m sensing a road trip to DC.

I’ve just about had it with these elitist, spongy-spined, lying sacks of shiffer brains.. Do they think they have their jobs in a vacuum? They work for us! Not for the President. Not for Mexico. Not for criminal aliens.. They work for the United States Citizen Taxpayer.

Mr. Lott.. Take a gander of my boot in your face and I’m telling YOU to stfu!

  4. Al Fresco on June 15th, 2007 at 10:55 am

How soon he forgets; Talk Radio listeners yanked his diminutive chestnuts from the inferno when his mental dullness reared its ugly head at Strom Thurmond’s (R-SC) birthday party and touched off a racially charged controversy.

May the Lord again humble Trent Lott. Amen.

    #1 Faster

What were you thinking ? Your comments are way, way too complex for a pretentious fraud like Lott.

  6. RickG on June 15th, 2007 at 11:46 am

Is it any wonder Bush is ignoring us when career trough feeders like Lott are whispering in his ear: “Talk radio bad. Amnesty bueno.”

  7. kover on June 15th, 2007 at 12:02 pm

This is a foreshadowing of the return of the fairness doctrine. Both sides are at odds with Talk Radio, only a matter of time… “do what needs to be done” is a coded message…

Maybe we can listen to all the conservative talk hosts via webcast, i wonder if a website will have to offer equal time..???

These politicians use the radio to grandstand and make you think they are with the listeners, when in fact they are only out for votes, money or both.

Kyle Janek is a prime example, he stood up and championed Appraisal reilief, knowing that if anything got through the Senate, it would be dead in the house. Kyle also voted against Dan on the blocker rule (i think it is)

Democrats see 30 million + votes, Republicans see 30 million in cheap laborers, they both see 30 million more donors of Social Security money to raid from..

African Americans need to get behind killing this vote because the day Hispanic voters out number them, the democrats will never help them again…

Kay Bailey is GWB ’s B-tch, and we all know it… she doesn’t run again until 2012, this will long be forgotten in her mind.

We as conservatives on an island

Maybe we can listen to all the conservative talk hosts via webcast, i wonder if a website will have to offer equal time..???

To Mr. Lott I have to ask why do you think talk radio is so popular? Maybe it’s because a lot of very concerned, very bright people are heavily involved in what goes on around them? You my friend better listen. The people are speaking, and they’re pissed.

  9. Unhyphenated_American on June 15th, 2007 at 12:59 pm

I don’t blame Mr. Lott… Talk Radio has done great harm to this country by filling it’s listeners heads with lies.

  10. The Dude on June 15th, 2007 at 1:09 pm

Let’s stay under their skin, shall we?

We shall. I want to see them in full-blown hissy-fit mode like John Whitmire when he gets upset with Dan Patrick. When we take them to that point (which Lott, Bush, et al are already approaching IMO) we own them. The further this progresses the more obvious it becomes that drug cartel money is trying to shove this bill down the throats of legal American citizens. The more obvious that becomes, the less chance they have of pushing it through. Keep up the fight. We can win this one.

  11. The Dude on June 15th, 2007 at 1:15 pm

Unhyphenated_American ignores the reality that many conservatives like me don’t listen to talk radio and yet somehow reach the same conclusions that a lot of talk radio show hosts have. I can exercise my critical thinking skills quite well without external influences, thank you.

  13. Shannon on June 15th, 2007 at 1:34 pm

I’d sooner spend some time with Bill Clinton than that sleezer Trent “Railroad to Nowhere” Lott.

  14. malcolm on June 15th, 2007 at 1:35 pm

#11 Dude & #12 Zippy: It would be interesting to hear/read his back up to that statement or you think he’s just a’trolling along?

  15. lablover on June 15th, 2007 at 1:36 pm

Lott reminds me of Fred Hill, when he said during one of the Special Sessions, (referring to citizens of Texas), “you people are out of control” !!!
And did you hear what Sheila Jackson Lee plans to do to promote the Immigration Bill? She wants to convene a meeting with all Texas congressmen to tell them what Texas needs !! What arrogance!
And I did not change the statement as written:
SHE will TELL them what Texas NEEDS!!

  16. gadboy on June 15th, 2007 at 1:39 pm

I am glad to see a Republican with the guts to attack the sacred cow that talk radio has become. If I want unbiased, intelligent news and opinion, I will go to NPR for talk, Time, The Atlantic Monthly, Houston Chronicle, New York Times , Houston Chronicle, among others for print, and CNN for broadcast news. I also read the Wall Street Journal for the conservative viewpoint. I respect the intellectual level of their content, even though I disagree with a lot of their views. Talk radio has never been anything more than a refuge for people who don’t necessarily want to hear the truth. Talk radio, both liberal and conservative has always been for people who are only interested in news and opinion slanted to their point of view. It is never about intelligent debate and discourse. I think a case can be made linking the lack of intelligent political discourse and rise of the irrational partisanship that is crippling the political system in this country to the growth of talk radio. I always thought a good tag line for Hannity, Coulter, Limbaugh, etc, etc, would be “For the uninformed, by the uninformed”

  17. Squawkbox Noise on June 15th, 2007 at 1:46 pm

    Yep gaddy

Your choice of news sources are unbiased and intelligent. I can understand your choice.

/Holy crap did I just say that? Muhwahahahaha

Actually your sources are just as OPINIONATED as talk radio. But hey!!! Who is checking right?

    Irrational partisanship defined:

Do it my way or you are wrong.

  18. bigjolly on June 15th, 2007 at 1:49 pm

Would someone PLEASE come up with a category name for gadfly’s nonsensical comment?

  19. bigjolly on June 15th, 2007 at 1:50 pm

And no, squawk, “Bovine Excrement Grunts” does not count.

  20. Squawkbox Noise on June 15th, 2007 at 2:00 pm

    bigJ

    Re: category

I find that simplicity is the answer to your conundrum.

    gadfly’s nonsensical comment

Seems to me you have already found your cat name.

  21. Fasternu 426 on June 15th, 2007 at 2:04 pm

“If I want unbiased, intelligent news and opinion, I will go to NPR for talk, Time, The Atlantic Monthly, Houston Chronicle, New York Times , Houston Chronicle, among others for print, and CNN for broadcast news”

I read that and laughed so hard, I farted!

  22. Peter on June 15th, 2007 at 2:20 pm

“these talk-radio people who don’t even know what’s in the bill”

Well, we know what’s NOT in the immigration bill: enforcement!!!

  23. trl3 on June 15th, 2007 at 2:37 pm

It is pitiful that our representitive define informed citizens getting involved in the legislation process as “a problem we have to deal with”

I also like the part where he claims we do not know what is in the bill. I submit that involved citizen often know more about what is in the bill than most of our legislators do.

  24. trl3 on June 15th, 2007 at 2:39 pm

Gadboy has just proven how biased he really is.

  25. twocute64001 on June 15th, 2007 at 2:39 pm

Trent lott proved just how irrelevent he is when he gave up leadership, handing it back to the dimocraps. He was unable and unwilling to to lead or get the heck out of the way!

    Lott - a lott worse

  26. trl3 on June 15th, 2007 at 2:43 pm

Congress has done great harm to the country by lieing to the people.

Some people, like you, think it is the governments job the solve every problem for every person in the country because the people just do not know what is good for themselves.

Some, as I do, think that the greatest majority of the people can take care of themselves and do not need government interferance.

  27. Lizzie on June 15th, 2007 at 2:46 pm

The sad thing is that I trust Tony Soprano and Silvio Dante more than I trust any politician these days…

  28. m9777 on June 15th, 2007 at 2:51 pm

Govt. isn’t as big and bad as most people think, it’s much bigger and worse than you can imagine!

  29. gadboy on June 15th, 2007 at 4:16 pm

How are things in your neck of the woods, Squawk?

  30. vlou on June 15th, 2007 at 4:57 pm

One has to wonder why Trent Lott is so against talk radio. Perhaps it is because so much of it is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, which is something the Congress can’t give us and to which they held their hands on the Bible to defend when they took their oath, is it any wonder why he wants to shut us up? What are they hiding from us? I’ll bet a Lott.

  31. dcgirl on June 15th, 2007 at 5:37 pm

There will be a rally at the capital in Austin tomorrow (Saturday) from noon - 3 protesting this illegal alien amnesty. It would be great if we could get large numbers to show our senators.

  32. RickG on June 15th, 2007 at 6:04 pm

    30 vlou

I think all of what you say goes into the motivations of Lott and others like him. Remember, except for a very few years in private law practice, Lott has been a congressional aide, a Congressman or a Senator. In other words, he is a professional politician immersed in Washington culture so long that he has acquired the sense of entitlement of the elite - those who know in their heart of hearts that they are better than us, and therefore better at governing than us, and that we are clueless little ingrates if we challenge their thinking. Don’t you know that everything would be just fine if we all left the Government Elites alone to do what they know is best?

  33. PBFloyd on June 15th, 2007 at 6:59 pm

vlou: The obvious answer as to why a spineless dishrag like Trent Lott would say something so absurd and why his socialist ilk(on both sides of the isle) are so threatened by the discussion of ideas by a large part of the citizery that they was elected to represent, is obvious: our excuse for leadership in the US Senate is corrupt to the core!

And for people who suscribe to his point of view, like gadboy and UA, are forced to make ridiculous assertions like in #9 and #16, which indicates just how desperate the socialist/facists have become to get there way and maintain power.

But I will stand by their right to speak their minds, know matter how absurd their statements, because the truth will always come out. Unfortunately, we are living in a time when the truth is being suppressed by deliberate propaganda from the powers that be in the government, media, academia. The very ones that have to work in order for a Republic to survive.

While I am loathe to use the ‘R’ word, even though by the definition the fathers of this country, we have ever right to, since this government has ceased to function in the best interest of the electorate, refuse to address grievances or be responsible to their oath and the citizens of this great nation. The problem with revolutions is you never know what your going to get, and if you study history, they have a tendency to consume their own children.

I will say this: right now what we have is a bloated, bleating beauracracy that only serves to tax and regulate the very people who fund it’s existence. And when GW and one-world-order elitist pigs get their way and I see blue helmets on our streets terrorizing Americans and Texans after the next national emergency that is coming, I will consider that the end.

    And respond accordingly.

    then I wil

  34. PBFloyd on June 15th, 2007 at 7:01 pm

    They we’re, of course……!

While I know I should proof read them before sending, (DOH!) due to obvious typos, I stand by the posting.

PB-There are unmarked black helicopters circling over my house. What should I do?

  37. Adee on June 16th, 2007 at 12:29 am

If this irrational stupidity on the part of certain Senators of both parties continues much longer, the good citizens of the various states will start seriously asking how to recall them. That leads to action to accomplish it. And that wields a bigger stick than waiting to support a primary opponent. Since a politician’s prime directive is getting reelected, well….

  38. DanielJames on June 16th, 2007 at 6:42 am

When the Fairness Doctrine comes down the pipe it will have bipartisan support.

What Tren Lott said should scare every American.

He is only saying what the others wont.

  39. american woman on June 16th, 2007 at 7:20 am

IT’s time for MR. Lott to retire. The good ole boy system is dead………. vote buying is going to be watched and information shared across America. We the people are mad as hell and we are gonna do something about it

  40. PBFloyd on June 16th, 2007 at 10:00 am

gadboy: I dunno, maybe call 911? I’m sure the government will solve problem for you!

Let me know how that comes out……

  41. Unhyphenated_American on June 18th, 2007 at 11:09 am

    11. I don’t necessarily mean Republican talk radio. Liberal radio as well has been very damaging to many Americans. I have seen people on both go into extreme beliefs over what a radio station told them….

  42. michaelbritton on June 22nd, 2007 at 3:06 am

They didn’t diagnose NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) until 1980. Taking no responsibility for your behavior is a classic symptom of this disorder. But, it’s difficult to think about soul searching when your multinational corporate masters are depositing millions in your off shore accounts to sell out the American middle class that voted you into office.
Maybe Lott should go work for Mexico where his loyalties truly lie. That might be a good place for all of the traitors in the senate who are facilitating this mono-culture of unskilled, uneducated, non-assimilating, turning the American southwest into a third world sewer. If we don’t pay you enough to satisfy your greed, then move to Mexico. It’s too bad that Americans must get the truth from anyone but, those we elected.
