Happy 4th to everybody! Praying that you keep all of your digits and gonads tomorrow!
Hello? Tap..tap..tap…AHEM!™
For those of you who missed last nights OC…I thought I’d bring this to light…

It just goes to show the quality of people here. Yes, you have to be careful on the internet, but everyone I’ve met from this group I’d vouch for. Except that Smacktle guy. And Gregg. Oh, and that Wino character.
Guess who’s day it is, to be in the barrel? /ducks and hauls butt! Quack quack!!!
Red Skelton, so talented, and this explanation of the Pledge has outlived him. I wonder what Mr. Skelton would think of these times? Happy Birthday America……where those elected work for us.
Daniel, you know that I was very much against the forced Gardasil vaccinations. The “report” you cite is based upon a news release by Judicial Watch from May 23rd and shows just how bad data can be skewed.
In fact, none of the three deaths in the bulletin were caused by Gardasil. One was attributed to influenza and the other two to blood clots in young women taking birth control pills.
When the CDC, responding to the three death reports, interviewed doctors and examined the charts, they found that one, a case of myocarditis, was caused by influenza virus. The other two were blood clots in adolescents taking birth control pills. Birth control pills are known to raise the risk of blood clots. “These deaths are tragic but appear to have causes unrelated to vaccination,” says Dr. John Iskander, co-director of the Immunization Safety Office at the CDC.
God Bless America. Today we honor not only the birth of our great nation, but the courage, foresight, and tenacity of the great men, our Founding Fathers, who brought into this world a fledgling nation. One where no man had absolute control. Where all men and women could work towards their hearts desire. A land of liberty and freedom. We may still be working towards the lofty goals these men set in our hearts, but we have overcome so much as a Nation. Remember that it is our differences and our ability to put those aside that truly make our country great.
Most of you probably already know that Rush Limbaugh’s grandfather, from Illinois, was a widely recognized authority on Abraham Lincoln. His father, Rush Limbaugh, Sr. was well-known in southern Missouri for a speech he would give each year on this day about the signers of the Declaration of Independence. It is short and poignant:
I heard that interview. The girl had just graduated from college and could not identify who wrote the Constitution, name the war which gained our independence and other things. Stunning. This is why I don’t agree with “get out the vote” campaigns for the general population. I do not want ignorant imbeciles like her voting.
#14-great post. Even though I don’t agree with your stance on a number of issues, I do respect your diligence in checking facts. You just pointed out one of the big problems I have with blogs(both liberal and conservative)and that is the tendency for people to find an article or study that agrees with their position, and then run with it. Whether it is accurate or not doesn’t seem to matter with a lot of folks.
#17 texpat thanks so much for the link. I’ve heard about that speech but never read it. It sure makes me feel small to complain about anything in my life, when these men gave all. We need to stay true to the Constitution and rule of law for their sake.
What you point out is all too true, however, the open dialogue made possible by the internet also provides for verification. People who post and, willy-nilly, attempt to buttress their arguments with headlines and bumpersticker sloganeering are almost immediately exposed. I would much rather have that situation than be told what to think by self-coronated elitists masquerading as “professional” journalists. It is the essence of truly free speech.
#4 Al I don’t know that is, but he did real good. Ted Nugent did the same thing at the NRA Convention in Houston in 2005. Here he is in Reading PA? http://youtube.com/watch?v=BEVzo6h3fEg
I read an article on the murder trial of Vincent “Vinny Gorgeous” Basciano in the NY Post this morning and laughed out loud when I got to this:
“Former underboss Richard “Shellackhead” Cantarella told jurors a mobster once had come looking for Basciano and referred to him with the strange new moniker.”
#11 HS #18 texpat, I heard it too. I liked the guy that thought Hitlery was great but couldn’t think of a damn good reason why. I too don’t want these idiots voting. Also if you’re feeding at the trough/riding in the wagon that I’m pulling,…NO VOTE FOR YOU!! NEXT!
BTW; I know why you shake your head ;=)
Awesome!!! If only we had real American entertainers again instead of the communist leaning whiners of selfishness bombarding us daily from Hollywood (i.e. michael moore, barbara streisand, whoopi goldberg, rosie o’donnel, and ilk)
Anyway, Happy Independence Day to all true Amercian citizens! Those with thankful hearts that understand the intense value of liberty, justice & freedom requiring a steadfast vigilence of honor, integrity and truth. God bless all of you!
God bless our troops and their families with protection, peace, hope, courage, the honor and victory they deserve.
America, the greatest country in the universe! We should be proud to be Americans and, having said that, we need to defend our country from those who believe they can destroy it - that means securing the borders (both Northern and Southern borders) from the perpetrators of hate who want to destroy life or take away our quality of life. Additionally, we need to be grateful to all the men and women in our armed services who are fighting to keep us free. God bless America and our troops.
Something to chew over while pondering on your barbecue steaks…(or should that be the other way around?)
“July 4, 2007 — On July 4, 1776, America’s Founders declared the country’s independence from Britain, largely as a revolt against excessive and unfair taxation. So in our nation, which is much more overtaxed than it was over two centuries ago, it would be fitting if, in recognition of our Founding principles, federal, state and local governments made July Fourth a totally tax-free day.
Many cities already suspend sales taxes for a few days a year on items such as clothing and school supplies, usually to garner the favor of overtaxed parents struggling to raise kids and to give mom and pop an incentive to frequent overtaxed downtown enterprises struggling to make profits. So wouldn’t it be appropriate for all of us who struggle every day to be allowed to keep our money on that day on which we celebrate our freedom?
The total direct tax burden on Americans - not counting the indirect taxes of regulations - is estimated at about 35 percent of our $13 trillion gross domestic product, or $4.5 trillion. That works out to more than $12 billion we would keep in our own pockets if we were truly independent on Independence Day.
We wouldn’t have to pay taxes on the hotdogs, beer and barbecue we purchase for Fourth of July picnics. And since for most of us this is a paid holiday, for that day we would receive our paychecks without income tax, Social Security taxes, unemployment insurance taxes and the like taken out.
Such a tax-free day would be the time to fill up large SUVs and save $10 a tank in various fuel taxes. Malls would soon see Christmas-season sized crowds as shoppers seek to stretch their dollars.
“Cute idea” you might say, “but since July Fourth is a holiday, many enterprises would be closed and therefore many individuals would not reap the full benefits of such a policy.”
Eventually Wall Street, brokerage houses, banks and the like would stay open to avoid, for example, capital- gains taxes. Everyone could end up working that day but, hey, most of us would get overtime pay that would not be taxed.
The Fourth of July could become the most commercially active day of the year. Picnics would be pushed aside for pension plans. Fireworks would give way to long work days. Time with the family would be replaced by time with financial facilitators.
But won’t this defeat the spirit of Independence Day? No. Taxes defeat the spirit of Independence Day.
The founding principle of this country is the right of each individual to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which all of our Founders acknowledged includes the right to acquire and own property.
Millions of individuals came to these shores not to have their income redistributed by politicians but to work producing goods and services to make a prosperous life for themselves and their families. They wanted to realize their dreams of personal autonomy and independence, to run their own lives without the interference of masters, whether feudal lords or local bureaucrats. So what better way to celebrate Independence Day than through economic activity independent of government?
Still, it would be better to retain traditional celebrations of the Fourth of July by returning to the antitax traditions we celebrate. Excessive taxes and government regulations rob us of our money and our autonomy and thus undermine that spirit of individualism by which each of us creates our own flourishing lives and spirits and that constitutes the spirit of America.
Yes, let’s ask our elected officials as a start to declare July Fourth a tax holiday. And let’s insist they build on that day by cutting back taxes and thus expanding individual independence, which is the essence of America’s political and moral revolution.”
“Police said Albert Gore III was speeding at 100 miles per hour and that Xanax, marijuana and other drugs were found in the car.”
The interesting part about this is that he was driving a Prius. Isn’t that one the hybrids that his Daddy likes so much, and will it do a hundred MPH?!
This cannot be possible!! Just as SUV’s kill people, a prius would not be caught dead with drugs inside its carbon friendly interior. This must have been some car stamped out by the carbon unfriendly american auto industry. I think it’s a conspiracy to condemn a prius when in fact, it was a caddy.
I have a question for a bright bulb out there. Since my government refuses to build the fence, even tho a bill has passed and money alotted, what can I do as a citizen to get this done. Can I sue officials? Is there any action I can take ( we can take ) to get this started? I wanted fence building to begin Monday.
Somebody told the kid if he went fast enough, the velocity would reduce his gravitational pull, therefore reducing his carbon footprint. It works even better if you’re stoned out of your gourd in which case, you have no gravity at all.
Yesterday I made a post about Micheal Yon’s asking why the MSM has not more widely reported the massacre of women and children by al Queda at Hamira.
I made the statement that, given the barbarity of the act and it’s illustration of the nature of the enemy we face, that you would think that the MSM would at least be trying to make “Hamira” as much of a household word as they made “abu Grhaib.”
July 03, 2007
WHY DON’T AL QAEDA ATROCITIES GET MEDIA ATTENTION?
Because that might help Bush.
UPDATE: A journalist whose name you’d recognize emails:
Yon’s story doesn’t get attention because it is humiliating.
It is humiliating because it is obvious that we media – and our allies in the state department, the legal trade, the NGOs, the Democratic Party, the UN, etc., - can’t do squat about such determined use of force.
Our words, images, arguments and skills can’t stop the killing. Only the rough soldiers and their guns can solve the problem, and we won’t admit that fact because the admission would weaken our influence and our claim to social status.
So we pretend Yon’s massacre – and the North Korean killing fields, the Arab treatment of women, the Arab hatred of Israel, etc. - doesn’t exist, and instead focus our emotions and attention on the somewhat-bad domestic things that we can ‘fix’ with our DC-based allies. Things such as Abu Ghraib, wiretapping, etc. When we ‘fix’ them, then we get status, applause, power, new jobs, ego, etc.
Please don’t be surprised. We media are an interest group not much different from the automakers, the unions, and the farmers.
Sadly, this makes sense. And this fits the pattern.
#42 american woman,…Tar, Feathers, Pitchforks!? I’m afraid that it will soon come to that.
BUT, we did squash the Amnesty Bill, scared the Dog Poo outta them.
Hey Elizabeth! Grandpa What’s fer supper?…Well I started the Brisket about 1 PM, I got a late start because I put up my Beach Cabana. We’ll have brisket, Dave’s home made pinto beans/rice, fresh sweet corn cooked on the grill, and sourdough bread out of the bread machine. YUM-YUM!!!
Check this out, I just took it. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2185130250042337214StbBFH
Good afternoon, since I missed saying, mornin all, another day that God has given to us.™
I hope everyone stayed dry or at least a little dry. Off to see the transformer movie will see everyone later.
Squawk I love it that you picked Red for todays OC.

The interesting part about this is that he was driving a Prius. Isn’t that one the hybrids that his Daddy likes so much, and will it do a hundred MPH?!
I will go back to my belief about Libs. Do as I say not as I do. It was probably just a non hybrid Prius. It still makes my head shake, like you know who, how can a car like that do a 100mph?
I’m smokin’ my semi-world famous spareribs. I placed 2nd and 3rd with them in cookoffs down in Rockport. Also made my Texmati Rice/Cilantro Salad which everybody always likes. If I could make sourdough bread like the guys do in Brooklyn, I would, but I can’t so I buy theirs. Going over to friends’ house later for a small party.
On Sunday July 1, Jerry Bolton was killed on his motorcycle in Houston.
His teenage daughter is currently at St Lukes being treated for heart transplant rejection.
Needless to say there is extreme sorrow and anxiety among the family.
Please pray for his family. Jerry loved his motorcycle.
Jerry’s his wife, Kim Bolton, said she thought Jerry would really have
appreciated the PGR in attendance.
He was also involved in other charity work, and had a heart of gold.
I think the fact he joined the PGR is testimony
enough to his character, not being a vet himself.
Kim has been glued to the hospital with their daughter
in critical condition with her heart problem after a heart transplant.
The hope that the Daughter will be well enough to attend this service.
Jerry Bolton is the nephew of Mike Sorich (CGRET) that we have seen on lot’s of missions.
Mike’s brother, Charlie, will also be ride with us.
#48 Dave: When are you gonna eat? Midnight? Do you have a secret, to cooking brisket fast? BTW: loved your cabana! Has Stanley made anymore trips? That dude really gets around!
Switched plans and am having porkchop/rice casserole, fresh greenbeans and salad.
Our block is having its get to-gether later. Ray has the canopy up on his drive. The guys BBQ and we bring sides. I’ve made the banana pudding (the kind you cook) with bananas and vanilla wafers. It will be hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, and beer. Tonight it will be like a war zone, with the sound of fireworks all around. The air will be hazy with smoke. Dave looks like the rain cannot hamper your fun…. enjoy…..
I have to learn how to post pics. Dave and ST - both your suppers sound wunnerful. We’re keeping it simple - hot dogs, corn on the cob, bbq beans, watermelon and marshmellows over a campfire or bbq pit - depending on if it stops raining. Right now there’s another heated game of dominoes in progress. Apparently there’s a little known Texas law that states Grampa must always win.
Katfish, What you and your group do is truly admirable and must mean the world to the families of the fallen you honor. I imagine often those on their bikes ears fill up with tears in the course of their duty.
O.K. I just made the last minute run to Kroger’s, if anyone is wondering where all the folks that live in Clear Lake are, they’re at Kroger’s
ST, We’ll eat at about 5 PM, I used to smoke the brisket in a slow smoker for 10 hours but now, I crank up the gas grill to 600 + degrees and brown the brisket then wrap it in foil move it to one side throw pecans on the fire side and cook it real fast (HOT) for 1 hour, then cook it slow for 3 hours, works for me, you can cut it with a fork.
Elizabeth, your menu sounds fine to me! ;=) The main thing is to be outside and use some kind of old fashioned fire.
Texpat, you are a man after my own heart!
If I had more time I’d have got out the White Mountain Ice Cream Freezer! It’s been a few years since I’ve done that.
GOTTA GO check on the beans!
Later Dudes and Dudettes
I heard Rick Monday interviewed earlier this year by, I think, Rush about the events of that day. Frankly, today I believe the cops would have to save the perps from a very, very angry crowd. I can’t imagine someone trying to burn an American flag in, say, Yankee Stadium. I can promise you it would not be a pretty sight for the people who set the flag on fire.
Let’s all remember to do all that we can on this 4th of July celebration to keep our carbon footprints as small as possible. This may mean no bbq, not driving to see fireworks, and shutting off the electrical power to your houses. But, if it will help to save the planet, isn’t it worth it?
President al-Gore’s speech to the Union July 4, 2009…
Modern “democracy” is little more than an insidious, statist scheme of licensing, i.e., converting rights into taxable privileges, and worse.
King George III could never have dreamed of exercising the degree of despotism the federal, state and, in many cases, local governments abuse the people with today. We are supposed to be their masters, not their servants. Sadly, most people are completely ignorant of the written law and thus they don’t even realize when publc servants are breaking it, and break it they do on a daily basis. Respect for authority these days is nearly always misplaced and leads to needless subservience and disappointment. If we had half the courage of our founders, we would put a stop to the nonsense.
Dang. a 10 hr. briskett crammed into 4 hrs…. I WANNA TASTE TEST!
Wiskerfish. prayers are on the way. That is WAY to much burden to bear. Thanks to ALL of you!!
Liz: Made the 1st batch of pickles today. I’d recommend the 1st one, not the 5th one! I’m tarrred!!! Got your name on it shuug!/Neo, I did add a little more sugar this time. I’d like your imput, ’cause I KNOW you’ll tell me the truth!
#60 - Ms Liz we don’t wear our sunglasses just for the sun to be sure!
Different missions strike individuals differently - my very first one out in Smithville was quite a tear jerker - being hugged by a 1 star general with tears streaming down his own cheeks will stick with ya…..
Survived the BBQ, ate way to much. The rain stopped before the fun began so all is good. ST your pickles sound great! What kind are you making, bread and butter?
Despite all our faults, we are still the greatest country in the world. Like it or not - we are an American family, and family ALWAYS takes care of eachother and looks after their own.
I have edds handy dandy thingy filled out and ready. Comps around here dont come easy as all homes are very different and vary greatly in price range.
I wanna go in with both guns a blazing(figure of speech).
That wasnt rhetoric the other day. He who takes care of his home should not have to pay for that.
I was thinking of letting the casa turn into a virtual dump. I will save money two fold. I wont spend a dime on repairs and my appraisal will go down for sure. How does that sound?
ST thanks so much and of course Liz gets first dibs. Big Jolly wrote the best thing today at his sight about helping each other. That our purpose is to help those who need it.
My #64, I find this hard to believe but my Lil’ Sister called around 6:30 to ask if I had our Mom’s recipe for Ice Cream! I said, do you have STP? (ESP for the folks in Rio Linda), She said no, that great minds think alike!
YES!!
Enjoy the evening everyone. The fireworks have started though it’s not dark yet. Sophie the dachshund and Max the shihtzu are both chicken and practically on my lap. God Bless America.
His name is Steve Blaze, he’s the main songwriter for a band called Lillian Axe… We’re touring the US starting Sept 4 in Atlanta (or maybe the 3rd in Tampa if that show gets finalized)…
We’ll be at the Scout Bar in Clear Lake on Oct 6
(I’m the guy y’all will be yelling at for shining the lights in your eyes- wear sunglasses… heh)
I serve this salad at room temperature because of the oil based dressing. It tends to be a little congealed when it is too cold. Slightly chilled is good for the hot summertime though.
————————————————
I served my salad and ribs to an eighty-five year old Hungarian Jewish refugee tonight. He said it was the best he ever had and went back for thirds. His wife just died and he sold his home of many decades in Brooklyn to move to New Jersey to be near his daughter. This man was on a subway in New York a couple of months ago and an elderly woman came up to him and said, “Is your name Ziti ?”. He replied, “Yes, it is.” The woman told him he had saved her life when he had made fake documents for her in order to reach the Swiss Consulate in Budapest a lifetime ago. She touched him and thanked him and disappeared. This was 67 years ago and she recognized him. Ziti was so stunned he didn’t even ask her name. Ziti and his older brother made false documents for Jews in Hungary around 1939-1940 back before they themselves were finally able to escape. What a life this man has lived and remember, don’t forget to count your lucky stars tonight.
Help! Hope someone is still up, I’m preparing my appraisal protest based on unequal value. I cannot remember if you can use`the pre-capped (market value) number or does it have to be the capped value. Anyone know? Thanks ahead for any help.
They don’t make entertainers like this anymore. Bob Hope, Bing Crosby… Those were real men and real Americans…
Happy Birthday to you

And almost every one of them supported Hillary, but couldn’t name one thing she’s done for NY as a Senator.

UH-OH!
GORE’S SON ARRESTED FOR DUI, DRUGS FOUND IN PRIUS
http://www.breitbart.tv/html/2581.html
“Police said Albert Gore III was speeding at 100 miles per hour and that Xanax, marijuana and other drugs were found in the car.”
The interesting part about this is that he was driving a Prius. Isn’t that one the hybrids that his Daddy likes so much, and will it do a hundred MPH?!
Prius 0-100 km in 10.9 secs and a top speed of 170 km/h. 170 KMH = 106 MPH, who’d a thunk it?

#42 american woman,…Tar, Feathers, Pitchforks!? I’m afraid that it will soon come to that.
BUT, we did squash the Amnesty Bill, scared the Dog Poo outta them.
All I wanna know on this 4th of July is this: Why do so many people refer to Independence Day as simply “the 4th of July”???
It was rainy on Independence Day last year too. Oh well, soggy hot dogs but let FREEDOM RING!

Memorial Service for PGR Member Jerry Bolton

Katfish, I am so sorry this family is having extraordinary pain and worry. Prayers indeed. Mamma’s are strong but this sure is alot.
Sounds like a recipe is in order. Sounds good.
monday_flag_350.wvx
Just wonder if this link works– it’s about Rick Monday.
Katfish - prayers for this family…
nope - it didn’t sorry it’s good = about him retrieving the flag from potential fire. I’ll keep trying.
Katfish, What you and your group do is truly admirable and must mean the world to the families of the fallen you honor. I imagine often those on their bikes ears fill up with tears in the course of their duty.
Here it is
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAbmXlZbrSM
it probably would not happen today
Texpat’s Cilantro Rice Salad
Texmati Brown Rice - cook 2 cups (makes 6 cups cooked)
2 red bell peppers chopped
2 yellow bell peppers chopped
2 green bell peppers chopped
1 bunch scallions chopped
1 cup cilantro chopped
Mix all of the above together - salt & pepper to taste
Dressing:
1/2 cup canola oil
1/3 cup fresh lime juice
4 cloves garlic crushed
add dressing slowly and mix - you may not quite use all of it
#61 I’m afraid you are right… today it would burn

#62 texpat is that recipe for cold or hot? i have emailed it to the wife and she asked the big q - i said shucks take your choice.
#46….jimb….why do they refer to 11th September, 2001 as “9/11″?
Let’s all remember to do all that we can on this 4th of July celebration to keep our carbon footprints as small as possible. This may mean no bbq, not driving to see fireworks, and shutting off the electrical power to your houses. But, if it will help to save the planet, isn’t it worth it?
President al-Gore’s speech to the Union July 4, 2009…
Don’t let this happen!!
Enjoy your barbecues everyone!
#66…dowjones….it would be a cold salad.
But of course, if you wanted to serve it hot, I guess you could. But I would suggest it’d be better as it’s supposed to be…cold.
Independence Day?

“It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from its government.” - Tom Paine
My country tis’ of thee, sweet land of felony.
I also reckon some wild rice added to texpat’s brown rice salad would be nice too.
Dang. a 10 hr. briskett crammed into 4 hrs….
He he…the jars are pinging! Life is good!
#13 Bigjolly
Thanks. I havent had a chance to check out you info.

Liz has 1st dibbs, cause I promised….I always TRY to keep my word./and I don’t think I EVER want to see her mad.
Despite all our faults, we are still the greatest country in the world. Like it or not - we are an American family, and family ALWAYS takes care of eachother and looks after their own.
ST
Katfish, email me your address at info@headshaker.com. I want to send you something.
Thanks.

#81 Elizabeth, sugar, you said it, and ain’t it the truth! This is the best damn country on the face of the earth, warts and all!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
#74 ST The pinging is music to my ears, I haven’t heard that sound in many years!
#84 - *in best AOL voice*(bleccccch)
“you’ve got mail!”

I was thinking the same thing. When my dad or myself smoke a brisket it goes on the smoker at 4am or 5am and stays on there till 4pm or 5pm.

Wow that is something TP, bet he has some horrendous stories.
