Sad statement about who we are, isn’t it. Our daily life isn’t changed. We eat at sidewalk cafes without concern of a car bomb. We shop, entertain, work. These brave guys and ladies, are in danger daily. It makes me feel ashamed that I have so much comfort while they have none.

What are we supposed to do? Kick the S**t out of the first Muslim we see everyday? We are at war with an Ideology. Period end of story. You tell me how we at home fight it.

BTW, if we did kick the s**t out of a Muslim, it would be us sitting in jail and getting sued by CAIR.

I’m not sure what we should do about it, but this is the first major war I can remember where American citizens have not have not made any sacrifices. No draft(WW2, Korea, Vietnam), no rationing (WW2). I think that is why it was so easy to get into this war in the first place and why there are still people who support it. Tell the American public that tomorrow their sons are going to be drafted, or that gas will only be sold 1 day a week because the resources are going to the war effort, or that taxes will have to be raised to pay for it, and see how much longer this war will last. I bet it would be over just as soon as we could ship back all the troops and equipment.

    gadboy

The war we are involved in is much more than Iraq or Afghanistan. Yeah I am highly urinated at the way GWB has prosecuted the Iraq, the real war is against an ideal that many of our enmies share. Even if just 1/10th of the Muslims are radical that would make their numbers 120 million. That is not a small army. Bottom line we are in a world war and peace does not mean the abscence of war.

Ya best hope we never leave Iraq cuase Iran Syria are next no matter what. Oh btw terrorism is coming soon to a mall near you.

  6. gadboy on July 5th, 2007 at 6:37 pm

Well, Squawk, how are you old buddy?I agree with you totally, on that point but we are always going to disagree on sending troops to Iraq. In my opinion, sending troops to Iraq bordered on criminal negligence and was incompetent at the least. Saddam was always considered a counterbalance to Islamic fundamentalism. That is why we backed him during the war with Iraq. By deposing Saddam , I believe we made Al-Quaida stronger by giving them a vacumn to operate in. Our troops in Iraq aren’t fighting a war on terror, but are in the middle of a civil war. Like I said before, Squawk, let’s turn Iraq into a parking lot, and either bring our troops home, or re-deploy them so they can actually fight a war on terror, and not just dig themselves out of the hole that this idiot president and his cronies put them in.

If we were really serious about fight terrorism, we wpould have invaded Syria years ago.

    Dang, my 1st delete…./sorry….

  10. Vic on July 5th, 2007 at 8:58 pm

Well, David, you know that some people contribute in “other ways”.

  11. Jean on July 5th, 2007 at 9:13 pm

That certainly rings true and makes you hang your head as well.
When 40% of the country thinks 4th of July is about hotdogs/BBQ, (albeit a great part), then you know you are in trouble.
I do wish we had a more awakened attitude here about the real war struggle, but unfortunately some people just see numbers on a screen and believe the “we’re losing line”.
Gadboy I do agree with the ‘parking lot’ idea, or atleast these extreme areas. To heck with the lawyers, let’s blast these sobs out of there so the ‘people of Iraq’ can have some type of life!

  12. PBFloyd on July 5th, 2007 at 9:19 pm

I’m still 100% behind the troops serving; they have performed magnificently, by all acoounts!

    God bless ‘em all!

  13. gadboy on July 5th, 2007 at 11:02 pm

I am behind the troops 100%, just not the war

It’s now Friday. Are you wearing red today?

  16. I.P.A.Bill on July 6th, 2007 at 8:20 am

Yes-I’ve worn red on Friday for a long time- not sure when I first read of the idea to support troops by doing so .

  17. LTC on July 6th, 2007 at 7:34 pm

never did understand the support the”troops 100%, just not the war” mentality.

kind of like supporting the houston astros and not baseball

for the war is part of the troops daily life and mission

to not support both the war as well as the troops
is indifference if our troops win or fail
and thats not supporting our troops.

  18. brentex on July 6th, 2007 at 11:33 pm

Well our sheepdogs are working overtime, never give up your support, because one day.. you might need our help.Right now some slick wolfs or sellouts are talking the talk, but not walking with a stick.
