Oh and BTW Cornyn is attending a hearing on the two BP Agents imprisonments on Tuesday. Call his office, support our Border Patrol agents. 10 years for shooting a drug smuggling illegal in the butt is ridiculous.

Mammeries, pressed between the pages of my mind (of course I’m still a leg man). Greetings all from the real south - Hawaii!!

Not only should the convictions of Campeon and Ramos be overturned, the arrest records should be expunged, an apology issued by the Federal government, and Johnny Sutton and the judge should be thoroughly rebuked by a joint resolution of congress.

  9. american woman on July 14th, 2007 at 7:04 am

Big 45 WELCOME BACK! Tell us about Hawaii. I agree,Ramos and Campeon need to be cleared, but we have another agent envolved in a shooting in a sewer tunnel. We have to watch that one.

  10. american woman on July 14th, 2007 at 7:05 am

Hmmm, about Hawaii. Well, yesterday afternoon, July 13th, it was around 83 with a cool breeze around 3 PM, humidity around 75%, but you don’t notice that with the nice ocean breezes. The dog is getting used to his new environment with no problem. Just going thru the headaches of renovating before we move in, but having fun with the 3 grandsons. Life is good!

    Pink
    by Aerosmith

    Pink it’s my new obsession
Pink it’s not even a question,
Pink on the lips of your lover, ’cause
Pink is the love you discover

Pink as the bing on your cherry
Pink ’cause you are so very
Pink it’s the color of passion
‘Cause today it just goes with the fashion

Pink it was love at first sight
Pink when I turn out the light, and
Pink gets me high as a kite
And I think everything is going to be all right
No matter what we do tonight

    You could be my flamingo
‘Coz pink is the new kinda lingo
    Pink like a deco umbrella
It’s kink - but you don’t ever tell her

Pink it was love at first sight, and
Pink when I turn out the light
Pink gets me high as a kite
And I think everything is going to be all right
No matter what we do tonight

I want to be your lover
I wanna wrap you in rubber
As pink as the sheets that we lay on
Pink it’s my favorite crayon, yeah

Pink it was love at first sight
Pink when I turn out the light
Pink it’s like red but not quite
And I think everything is going to be all right
No matter what we do tonight

How much longer until we get a good hurricane. I can’t wait to see/hear the press get all worked up seeing who can come up with the most dramatic fear mongering tactics. I wonder if this talent (fear mongering) was developed as a result of some developmental malfunction in dealing with fairy tales and childrens’ stories. For instance, is there any similarity between the behavior of Chicken Little and some of the TV anchorettes? - especially during times of crisis whether real or imagined (the sky is falling). What about the Big Bad Wolf blowing down houses, etc. Perhaps a contest of some kind, or someone with more capacity to deal more deeply into this topic than I can would be in order to determine which media personalities match up with which story book characters. More later.

  29. american woman on July 14th, 2007 at 10:37 am

Cleaning break !! yayyy…… Emme gm sunshine, tho its rainy….. Rastus I agree with you. Tho, the morals of those stories were.. crying wolf doesn’t count etc. The MSM are addicted to sensationalism. They are crisis driven. If there isnt a daily crisis……..they manufacture one. Al Gore was clever enough to realize this, do some reading about the carbon credits in Keoto, start two companies and begin the religion of global warming. Now the chi-coms threaten to undo him with weather control. But, fear and crisis…… that’s their life’s blood. Has to be tragic or it doesnt sell ( in their small minds).

One for a rainy Magnolia Saturday morning…

The flight was being served by an obviously gay
flight attendant, who seemed to put everyone in a
good mood as he served food and drinks.
As the plane prepared to descend, he came swishing
down the aisle and told us that “Captain Marvey has
asked me to announce that he’ll be landing the big
scary plane shortly, so lovely people, if you could
just put your trays up, that would be super.”
On his trip back up the aisle, he noticed this
well-dressed and rather Arabic looking woman hadn’t
moved a muscle. “Perhaps you didn’t hear me over
those big brute engines but I asked you to raise
your trazy-poo, so the main man can pitty-pat us on
    the ground.”
She calmly turned her head and said, “In my country, I am called a Princess and I take orders from no one.”
To which the flight attendant replied,
without missing a beat, “Well, sweet-cheeks, in my country I’m called a Queen, so I outrank you.
    Tray-up, B*tch.”

God said alright, Adam you get the penis, Eve, you get the brains…….. hehe eric

Dadmanly makes another excellent post today, rounding up two articles by Charles Krauthammer and Mario Loyola:

There’s one often overlooked difference between the opposing sides in the Iraq conflict. America and its Coalition and Iraqis allies can solve their problems on the ground. It may be tough and expensive; and it might take a long time.

    snip

Meanwhile the forces battling the central government can’t solve their problems. With every month that passes, the so-called insurgents seem weaker and more fractured. The most vital manpower reserve of the insurgency — the Sunni tribes — are coming over to our side wholesale. And according to one of the most senior counter-insurgency advisors to General Petraeus, “This is not a result of planning. It‘s a fashion trend.” If anyone is begging for an exit-strategy from its current predicament, it is the insurgency.

Put yourself in their shoes. They have studied history. They know what an insurgency needs in order to win. They know that they will never achieve national geographic scope. No foreign army is going to come to their rescue. They will never have diplomatic recognition, from any country. No Iraqi general will ever defect to their side.

As things now stand, they cannot win. Their only hope is Congress. And now — at the very moment that our troops finally have the chance to prove they can win — a majority of the Congress wants to legislate defeat, by interfering in the strategic and tactical judgments of the constitutional commander-in-chief and his generals, and force them to do things that they are convinced will throw to the winds all that we have gained at such a terrible price.

Think about that for a moment, let it sink in. Our enemies’ only hope is Congress.

This is why the anti-war folk who visit here often never answer this question when I ask it to them:

“How can these people defeat us?”

It’s because they can’t. The only way we loss to devil baby killers is to let them win.

    This reported by News Max

Herpes Shows Promise for Killing Cancer

A genetically engineered herpes virus, designed to kill cancer cells but leave normal tissue unharmed, has shown early promise in clinical tests, scientists say.

The idea of injecting cancer patients with a live virus may seem bizarre, but researchers believe viruses — which are experts at killing cells — could one day become a valuable addition to the medical armory against cancer.

The latest progress in a small study using MediGene AG’s virus NV1020 was presented at the annual European Society for Medical Oncology conference in Lugano, Switzerland.

NV1020 is a modified version of the herpes simplex virus, which causes cold sores. Its genetic make-up has been altered that so it only replicates in cancer cells, killing them in the process, and leaves ordinary cells alone.

The German biotech company had already announced positive results from an interim analysis of a 13-patient Phase III study of NV1020 in September, but efficacy data from a case study was unveiled for the first time at the Swiss meeting.

Axel Mescheder, MediGene’s research head, described the case of one very late-stage patient whose cancer had spread to 10 different places around the liver and four in the lungs.

He was given four weekly infusions of the virus followed by two cycles of chemotherapy, and six months after treatment scans showed that his liver tumors had nearly disappeared. The patient survived for 12 months following the intervention.

“The reduction in the tumor masses was really impressive in this patient. The hepatic [liver] masses almost disappeared,” Mescheder said in a statement.

“The results are really quite encouraging at this early stage.”

Treating cancer in the liver is notoriously difficult, and the prognosis for patients is very poor. Many people with colorectal cancer, in particular, face the risk that their cancer will metastasize, or spread, to the liver.

The encouraging results with the virus in early human studies follow tests in animals, which showed that NV1020 was effective at killing colorectal and liver cancer cells.

This offering at DI ties in well.

The speech George W. Bush SHOULD give:

Normally, I start these things out by saying “My Fellow Americans.” Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don’t know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you’re really not fellow Americans any longer.

I’ll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyone gets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: there’s been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office.

The reason I’m quitting is simple. I’m fed up with you people.

I’m fed up because you have no understanding of what’s really going on in the world. Or of what’s going on in this once-great nation of ours. And the majority of you are too darned lazy to do your homework and figure it out.

Let’s start local. You’ve been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media. Polls show that the majority of you think the economy is in the tank. And that’s despite record numbers of homeowners including record numbers of MINORITY homeowners. And while we’re mentioning minorities, I’ll point out that minority business ownership is at an all-time high. Our unemployment rate is as low as it ever was during the Clinton Administration. I’ve mentioned all those things before, but it doesn’t seem to have sunk in.

Despite the shock to our economy of 9/11, the stock market has rebounded to record levels and more Americans than ever are participating in these markets. Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too darned stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there’s increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.

We face real threats in the world. Don’t give me this “blood for oil” thing. If I was trading blood for oil I would’ve already seized Iraq’s oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don’t give me this ‘Bush Lied People Died’ crap either. If I was the liar you morons take me for, I could’ve easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be ‘discovered.’ Instead, I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty. Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the goods, same as me. Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named ‘Clinton’ established that policy. Bet you didn’t know that, did you?

You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to outspend and out-tech them.

That’s not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don’t care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That’d be fine, as long as they weren’t also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But they are. They want to kill you. And the ba$tards are all over the globe.

You should be grateful that they haven’t gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11. But you’re not. That’s because you’ve got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforcement and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that. When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I’m disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of ‘Survivor.’

Instead, you’ve grown impatient. You’re incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.

Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat’s political campaign, well, dammit, you might just as well Fedex a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.

In this day and age, it’s easy enough to find the truth. It’s all over the Internet. It just isn’t on the pages of the New York Times or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you’d be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol.

I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you’re too stupid to leave a city that’s below sea level and has a hurricane approaching. I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from. But I’ve come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.

So I quit. I’m going back to Crawford. I’ve got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream) and the capability to be fully self-sufficient. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon as I’m done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I’ll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.

Oh, and by the way, Cheney’s quitting too. That means Pelosi is your new President. You asked for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there’re just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.

So that’s it. God bless what’s left of America. Some of you know what I mean.

    /please forgive me Squawk!

I have discovered a very good message in Harry Potter = Order of the PHoenix

    Not witchcraft - Politics.

    1) Hero is trying to ready people for danger (Voldemort/immigration/bin laden)

    2) government (ministry of magic) lies about him and the danger (daily prophet/ramos campeon / no problem with islam)

    3) Government makes charges against hero to shut him up (using magic out of school/ talk shows only conservative)

    4) hero must do job himself (order of the phoenix / minutemen / did a miltary grop try to wan about 911?)

    5) hero awakes the public ( shows voldermont is back / to be continued in real worl problems )

    Just a lot of parallels

And a VERY VERY good lesson for young minds - there are real idiots in government.

#52 - Elizabeth, that “other blogger” didn’t forget to add the link, she blatantly presented the comments as her own; no blockquotes, no italics, and interspersed with her own. And she’s done it numerous times, before and since. She also knows how to add those tags because she’s done that before and since. Just calling bull hockey when I see it ;-)

  75. Elizabeth on July 14th, 2007 at 6:21 pm

#72 Hammie, Did not know the “other blogger” interspersed her own words into the body of work as well. I seriously only intended to protect ST because she is a friend and know she would not want to misrepresent herself. Plagiarsm is a seriously illegal and unethical crime imo - equal to felony theft. Thanks for filling me in about the “other blogger.” Had hoped it was an honest mistake on her part too.

The border is only one reason why Congress’ approval numbers are lower than the President’s.

The People are getting tired of their being on Bush’s ass all the time for pissant stuff that doesn’t mean a damn thing.

Instead of governing, they are conducting useless investigations into stuff that is perfectly legal. They are passing “symbolic” legislation instead of real legislation. all that shows me is that they don’t have any more ideas than Bush does, they certainly aren’t presenting anything new.

If I want symbolism, I’ll go to an art gallery.

The one thing they CAN do about Iraq is the one thing they won’t do: defund the war. Which means they aren’t serious about it—and all the symbolism is just a sop to their base.

And appealing to the Left wing Deomcrat base does not govern the country–it just helps Democrats in the primaries.

    To the Democrats in Congress;

You achieved your goal of making George W. Bush the lamest dck in the history of lame ducks. Congratulations. Now, get off his ass and start governing the nation. All you’re doing now is piling on, and coveringn your own ass. Deliver the governance you promised.

Lead, Follow, or get out of the way.

It took the Republicans 12 years to get to this point—it took you guys about 12 weeks.

Before the Afghanistan and Iraq invasion we were told of these magnificent caves OBL had built with plasma tv’s and air conditioning. There were drawings of tanks parked inside and some James Bond type defenses.

In Iraq we were told of underground cities Saddam built.

Question? Why havent we ever seen any of this on TV? Was this pre intel exaggerations too?

There’s a lot of that going round these days—–

Mostly because all the other stuff they alleged turned out to be lies or distortions.

Good post from Micheal Yon today:

    http://www.michaelyon-online.com/wp/second-chances.htm

When context is other people’s children

As I write these words just a few miles from the graves I saw, the resulting controversy about whether what the man said was true, or whether his words should have been written if the writer couldn’t verify them, seems precious. There is no imaginary line of credulity that al Qaeda might cross should it go from beheading children to baking them.

No unnamed Iraqi stringer claimed that al Qaeda had taken over Baqubah. Al Qaeda said this through the press. I sit writing these words in Diyala Province just a short drive from where the self-proclaimed leader of al Qaeda in Iraq was killed by a bomb delivered by a US warplane. Al Qaeda: the organization that gleefully bragged about murdering roughly 3,000 people by smashing jets full of civilians into buildings and earth. Al Qaeda in Iraq: who proudly broadcast their penchant for sawing off the heads of living breathing people, and in such a manner as to ensure lots of spurting blood and gurgles of final pain, in some cases with the added flourish of the executioner raising up the severed head and squealing excitedly.

These are the same terrorists I often come face to face with: not on television or in magazines, but on bloodstained streets ablaze with human carnage. I remember the charred corpse of a small Iraqi boy. I remember the wailing Iraqi parents and countless other scenes that I am likely to see again and again. Back in 2005, terrorists here were intentionally attacking children. I shot the photo below on a day when they drove a car bomb through a crowd of children who had run out to American soldiers on patrol.

    http://www.michaelyon-online.com/wp/little-girl.htm

Many soldiers say this photograph symbolizes this war for them. It certainly has become emblematic for me.

In the more than two years since that awful day in May 2005, I’ve witnessed innumerable instances of the work of terrorists of many stripes. One clear indicator of just how bad a terrorist group is, is when battle-hardened soldiers—and writers like me who travel with them—don’t find it hard to believe a story which purports that al Qaeda had baked a child and set his roasted body out as the main course at a lunch for his parents.

People at home might find it incredible, improbable, even impossible. Yet here in combat with al Qaeda, the idea is no more improbable-sounding than someone saying “The chicken crossed the road.” Maybe the chicken crossed the road. Maybe not. The veterans I’ve been talking with here have no difficulty imagining the chicken crossing the road, or al Qaeda roasting kids. Sickening, yes. Improbable, no.

I posted this on another blog. I got a hard time for it.

Seems they don’t like me calling people who kill babies baby killers—and they think it’s unfair to bring in the fact that our enemy is a cruel and evil one.

I guess if you can bring yourself to ignore the uncomfortable facts, you can believ just about anything.

Including that there were stories of underground palaces in Afghanistan and Iraq that were talked about a lot before the war.

I’ll agree with the first part of that. The spider hole he was in was the best place to keep him until he could be hanged.

As far as the RIP goes, I hope he’s slow roasting in Hell and every 15 minutes or so they dip his scarred and bleeding body into a vat of bleach.

But you know me—I hold grudges—-

  123. gregg on July 14th, 2007 at 9:36 pm

You didnt remember seeing those animations on FOX and the others with elaborate caves in the mountains built by the multi millionaire UBL?

They were supposed to be air supplied and fortified to withstand a nuclear bomb blast.

All I saw on Iraq was dirty water filled bunkers. Not like the underground palaces that we were told Saddam had built.

    I found this.
