My point is, if this war was Clintons, guys like Sarge would be raw from screaming “get out now, tired of the lies!” He would be a Republican Sheehan.
But since its a R in the WH he bends over and kisses the bowel exit area. So easy to see thru you people.

Interesting quote from somebody who has only known me on the Internet for the last 3 years, let alone 10 years ago.

But then, we know gregg will say anything—except answer direct questions with direct answers.

    For the record:

I supported Clinton’s moves in Bosnia.

That’s because the same knowledge of history that informs my support of the actions Bush has taken in Iraq, informed my support of Clinton’s actions in Bosnia.

The Balkans was the site of the worst genmocide this planet had known until Hitler put it on an assembly line basis. It’s also the place where the First World War began. We’ve still got troops there, and that’s OK with me. Another world war started in a place where Muslims are in conflict with Christians (check it out guys—it’s the main reason Clinton went—only he went to keep Christians from killing muslims) is not what I want.

(side question: How come Deomcrats think sending troops to prevent genocide is OK when a Deomcrat President does it, but say that it’s not a good enough reason to use troops if a Republican is in office? I’m interested in how Gregg in particular would answer that one.)

World Wars on the scale of WW1 and WW2 suck dead birds. Millions of people die and entire societies permanently change. Don’t like ‘em, don’t ever want another one that big. BILLIONS of people will likely die in the next one. Funny, but the ‘ol warmonger Sarege doesn’t like that kind of killing, while the folks who are so anti-war are saying we either need to start killing on that scale or go home and wait for it to come here before we act)

    (Wino;

Add this to the list of lies being told by Gregg and Shakey that have been struck down.

If anyone here doesn’t know what I’m talking about, go to yesterday’s Open Comments and read the comments made from about 9 PM on.)

I was pissed that he ran away from Aidid in Somalia, because I knew it would only make those baby killing SOBs more powerful and more anxious to kill more of us, and be better able to recruit more baby killers because tey could show people that they can make us run away using our own politics. (And for the record, I was pissed that Reagan withdrew from Lebanon, too–but e made up for it by going after Commies, which led to our victory in the Cold War.)

I supported his sending missles into Afghanistan and Sudan, but was pissed that was all that he did.

I was pissed at his non-response to the bombing of the USS COLE, the bombings of two embassies, the bomboing of the WTC, and the killing of our airmen in the Khobar towers.

I was pissed that he used the FBI to fight terrorists instead of the military. I knew that would only make them think we were weak cheese, and would only lead us to a bigger war—the one we’re fighting now.

Does that clear it up for you Gregg?

    Why was Pat Tillman murdered?

Well I know Olberman is telling people Chehey hd him murder because he supported John Kerry.

The Kos Kids are floating one that says Cheney killed him because he was going to meet with Noam chmsky after he got home.

But if you listen to the guy who was standing next to him when he got shot, you realize that there’s a whole lot of unsupported, unsubstaited Government/Media/Walmart/Halliburton.Chey hit squad complex lies and idiocy going on:

SAN FRANCISCO - As bullets flew above their heads, the young soldier at Pat Tillman‘s side started praying. “I thought I was praying to myself, but I guess he heard me,” Sgt. Bryan O‘Neal recalled in an interview Saturday with The Associated Press. “He said something like, ‘Hey, O‘Neal, why are you praying? God can‘t help us now.‘”

“He said, ‘I‘ve got an idea to help get us out of this,‘” said O‘Neal, who was an 18-year-old Army Ranger in Tillman‘s unit when the former NFL player was killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan in April 2004.

    Winifred Carriere

    Not naming any names… ;)

  27. Hamous on July 30th, 2007 at 9:21 am

Why, then, do people believe in these and other conspiracies? (Of course, there are known conspiracies – Osama bin Laden and others conspired in the 9-11 plot – but there are no successful hidden conspiracies. I cannot think of one in my lifetime.) There are at least six major reasons:

    1. Many people find it impossible to believe that a few utterly unimpressive individuals can do so much damage. Lee Harvey Oswald, a man who can best be described as simply a loser, could change history all by himself? It doesn’t seem to make sense.

    2. Many people want to blame those they loathe for as much of what they do not like as possible. Just about everyone who believes in hidden conspiracies attributes those conspiracies to those they hate. People who hate President George W. Bush blame him and his administration for 9-11. Egyptians who hate Israel have blamed AIDS on Israeli prostitutes. Indeed, attributing to Jews hidden conspiracies – the “world Jewish conspiracy,” the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” – is the oldest and most common belief in a hidden conspiracy.

    3. One should never underestimate the power of boredom – and the subsequent yearning for excitement – to affect people’s thinking and behavior. Belief in a hidden conspiracy is far more exciting than accepting prosaic truths. Figuring out the “mystery” of who killed JFK is a much bigger thrill than accepting that one jerk was responsible. Deciphering who was “really” responsible for 9-11 is a lot more interesting than accepting that 19 Arabs with box cutters did it.

    4. People who feel powerless over their own lives are far more likely to believe that some invisible force controls their fate than people who believe that they are the masters of their lives.

    5. There is, apparently, a great yearning among many people to believe that there is hidden knowledge and that they have access to it. It makes them feel special, perhaps even superior to the rest of us who do not have access to this hidden knowledge.

    6. In Western societies, it appears that secular people are more likely to believe in hidden conspiracies than the more religious. It may be that the religious already believe in an invisible power that governs the universe – God – and therefore seem to have much less of a psychological or emotional need to believe in invisible powers on earth.

Whichever reason or reasons apply, the bottom line about those who believe in hidden conspiracies is this: They choose to believe in them. Their psyche, their emotions, and/or their political agenda bring them to their belief in a hidden conspiracy. Never the facts.

    The usual fauxcons chime in.

    http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/325331_tillman27.html

Army medical examiners were suspicious about the close proximity of the three bullet holes in Pat Tillman’s forehead and tried without success to get authorities to investigate whether the former NFL player’s death amounted to a crime, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.

Sarge left for work - will be home around 7 PM.

One last thing in defense of cats:

All I Need to know About Life I learned From My Cat

    Make the world your playground.

Always find a good patch of sun to nap in.

    Nap often.

If you’re not receiving enough attention, try knocking over some very expensive antique lamps.

When eating out, think nothing of sending back your meal 20 or 30 times.

Curiosity never killed anything except maybe a few hours.

When in doubt, cop an attitude.

Variety is the spice of life. One day, ignore people; the next day, annoy them.

Climb your way to the top, that’s why the curtains are there.

Never sleep alone when you can sleep on someone’s face

Make your mark in the world, or at least spray in each corner.

Always give generously; a bird or rodent left on the bed tells them, “I care”.

When you go out in the world, remember that being placed on a pedestal is a right, not a privilege.

    For Katfish,

Do the riders know about this?

    Date: Fri, 27 Jul 2007 22:04:33 -0500
    From: John Deans
Subject: Funeral of U.S. Marine Bobby Twitty and Protesters opposed to our
    military and fallen heroes
    To: john@deansconsulting.com

    Fellow Patriots - Critical Event:

Bobby L. Twitty, a 20 year old U.S. Marine was killed in Ramadi, Iraq last Sunday night. His funeral services have been targeted by a religious group from Kansas that celebrates the deaths of Americans that die in the service to their country.

This information has been passed on to law enforcement and to the local Bryan-College media, so it appears to be accurate.

Twitty was on his fifth month of service in Iraq when he died. He was a 2005 graduate of Madisonville High School. His brother, 22 year old James Twitty serves in the U.S. Army.

This hero’s body is at Madisonville Funeral Home and visitation is tomorrow, Saturday July 28, 2007 with the funeral to be held at the First Baptist Church in Bedias, Texas, southeast of Bryan-College Texas on Sunday at 2:00 pm.

It is at this service that the protesters are to arrive in a bus or busses to demonstrate and celebrate the death of one of America’s Best.

I ask you to send this message to as many Patriots as you can and ask them to be in Bedias with their American Flags to show this bunch of misguided souls that they are way out of line.

Better yet, if you can go to Madisonville, Texas and join the procession to escort the body to Bedias, the procession is scheduled to leave the funeral home at 12 noon to travel to the Church in Bedias.

Please help spread the word! This unfeeling travesty, this imposition, this invasion of the privacy of the mourning of a lost loved son should not be allowed to happen, but it will happen!

We need to offset the pain caused by these unfeeling jerks with a massive show of love and support for their fallen hero and one of our country’s finest.

If you need information please e-mail me at chharvey@wt.net, call me at 800-816-4335 or check with the funeral home in Madisonville or the Bryan-College TV station (channel3 I think)

Thank you, and God Bless America!

    C.H. Harvey

P.S. If someone knows someone in the Patriot Riders, please pass this information on to them.

    Update from Jimb

Well, we’re about to check out of the hospital. I didn’t in any way think that Kailyn would be having brain surgery on Friday morning and walking out of the hospital on Monday. If that’s not a God thing, I don’t know what is. They just removed her IV’s and we’re waiting for discharge instructions and prescriptions now.

Dr. Wilfong came by this morning and said he wanted her to continue her Dilantin for the time being, and in a month they want to check her levels. Eventually, they will phase her off the meds and see how she does now that the tumor which is most likely behind the seizures is out.

Other than that, we’ll need to do a follow-up visit with Dr. Dauser to have the staples removed and check her out. In the meantime, we’re looking forward to getting home and letting Kailyn finish recuperating.

Thanks for the prayers and messages of support - Keep the prayers coming, I do believe that has made a difference so far, and even though she has done well, she’s still got some recuperating to do. Thanks again.

We all know that this is the end of the first stage for Jim and his family. We need to continue to keep them in our prayers, since complete recovery has not been announced.

Shaky– I don’t know what you are talking about; your censorship accusation is right there, #66.

Tell ya’ what–if there are self-professed Christians among LST’s readership that want to argue about whether or not Marvin Zindler is burning in Hell at this very moment because in spite of all the good that he did on Earth he never accepted Jesus as his personal Savior, have at it here in open comments.

I don’t think it is an extraordinary request that comments Mr. Zindler’s loved ones would find offensive and hurtful not be included in a tribute post that marks his passing.

Fwiw, from a public-relations standpoint I think anyone trying to make this point with Marvin Zindler as their case-study are making an extraordinarily bad judgment call… but hey, it’s your religion, not mine.

  80. Wino on July 30th, 2007 at 11:19 am

    Noggin Nodder,

The FauxNEWS thread was up last night. I don’t plan to delete anything there unless it falls into the “viagra post” category.

Marvin annoyed a lot of people. I think a tribute to someone should include everything that people want to remember about their time with them. For example, if anyone remembers me when it is my time, I would be appalled if no one said, “…but he could be an @$$, when he wanted to be one.”

Unless someone is up for sainthood, I don’t think their lives were completely immune to post mortem negative comments.

    It must be a full-moon…

    Shakey,
I’ve started to post opinion pieces several times on blogs today, and each time typed them out and then decided to delete them. Somethin’ just didn’t seem right and thought it best to keep a low profile and my opinions to myself today. (Hard to describe. It’s like things feel unstable and people are wackier w/ the potential to be more volatile today (myself included) and I just don’t want to go there today. Don’t burn any bridges.

  87. Wino on July 30th, 2007 at 11:37 am

I think it goes back to yesterday’s conversation about “blog tone.” LST has its tone, other blogs have their own tones.

Or screeches… as in the DailyKaos blog. What strident biotching goes on there. It’s the leftist version of the KKK. They just don’t wear uniforms.

  88. Fasternu 426 on July 30th, 2007 at 11:39 am

Hey, we’ve all had posts and comments deleted here. Now, if the blog owner wants us to not post on a particular topic, its his right. It is BZ’s blog, and he can do as he pleases.

I understand where the posters that made the comments are coming from. As a Christian I would like to see everyone come to Christ. They meant no harm and from seeing how they post and behave here hopefully they will probably take the removal of their comments in the spirit of which it was removed, to stay on topic and keep the thread as a memorial thread and not a debate on religion. I could see how it would spiral out of control and turn into something it was not meant to be. It would open a door for some that would turn a good topic into an ugly argument.

Shakey screeching about free speech and all can go stuff it…. This is a privately owned blog and as such the owner can delete any and everything he sees.

I understand the rules here and I agree and respect most of them.

It’s Benzene’s show, you’re right, and he can do whatever he wants. But we’ve seen lots of threads/posts here about Israel, the plight of the Jews, etc., and no one has complained and nothing was “censored”. In fact, everyone has supported those posts/comments because we support DB, Israel and all our Jewish friends/allies.

I just question the motive, that’s all. Do I not have a right to do that? Or is that censored also?

I might be wrong, but I don’t think any of the Christian moderators here would have done it.

Point taken. I saw those more as the “secret handshake” part of the group. I guess they could be uniforms, instead.

Sorta like the Birkenstocks for lesbians.

  93. Fasternu 426 on July 30th, 2007 at 11:54 am

When I saw the comments I thought (since he’s Jewish) if that would be appropriate and if I’d remove them? Not that they were bad, just that they had potential to make the memorial thread into a religious discussion which always has a very high potential of going to crap! Not what it was intended to be. BZ did good and turned back to the intent of the thread. We could get into a rewards vs grace discussion and forget about Marvin being a great guy here on earth that’s all.

I think the rights you have should be expressed in the proper format, in this thread for example. The Marvin memorial thread is not the place. What if his family read it and got pissed because someone made an off topic slam at his religion (not that the posters that had comments removed would do that). But it could degenerate into something it was not intended to be.

Kinda like tapping a keg at a funeral. It’s ok at a party, but not when we’re gonna bury grandma.

Just driving through and saw this.

Now, if the blog owner wants us to not post on a particular topic

I am assuming someones comment got nixed.

It is not about “who”…….. it is about what is appropriate to the thread. If the blog owner does not want comments on a particular thread we have the capability to turn the comments off.

And NO I do not wish to nor am I going to engage in a debate in what caused this flap. Don’t know what is going on and I don’t care.

Almost all of the 9/11 killers were from Saudi Arabia. None were from Iraq. The White House invades Iraq, and now is going to give the Saudis a weapons upgrade.

Meanwhile the real war on terror gets ever more critical.

“Al-Qa’eda divided over drive to oust Musharraf”

“The US officials believe al-Zawahiri is running anti-Musharraf operations without consulting other leaders, hoping to foment a revolt that will result in an Islamic regime taking control of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons.”

“Pakistan is the great strategic prize if they could install a friendly regime in possession of nuclear weapons. Pakistan is central to the war on terror in a way Iraq is not.”

Correct. But the peopel that attacked our nation do live there (as they used to and do again in Afghanistan). And the Saudi bin Laden does still survive today both thanks too and in Pakistan (the ISI says HI from Osama!). Not to mention that both the successful and unsuccessful London bombers were trained in Pakistan. And oh yeah the plot to bomb numerous US airliners at once….

  122. Mike S on July 30th, 2007 at 1:32 pm

Excellent story from yesterday’s Jerusalem Post.

    “Bush in retreat”

“It is not primarily the Taliban, who are out of power, or even Iran, which is the principal rising threat, but represents a Shi’ite brand of Islam that is somewhat isolated even in the Muslim world. Actually, the billions upon billions of dollars going to fund madrassas, where Muslims learn they must wage jihad against America and Israel, are coming mainly from Saudi Arabia.”

The only thing I will say is I worked for the DA who replaced Garrison. He had the same problem my father had (who is a highly educated person in physics, mathematics)

They both were greatly troubled that the 3 main witnessess who might have had the grassy knoll eyewitness and Oswald were all killed with in a 6 month period the coincidence of this is well astronomical.

Also the ballistics did not take an elevated sniper into account and today the autopsy report on JFK is still sealed

Kennedy was shot a level elevation had Oswald hit him it would have had a greater trajectory and buried the bullet in the carriage of the car

    update on Jimb’s Daughter.

I was apparently only kidding when I said we were going home earlier. We seem to have hit a bit of a procedural bump in the road. We’re still going to be able to go home today, but Kailyn was supposed to get an MRI prior to leaving, and nobody actually scheduled it. So Dr. Dauser came in this morning and told us she needed an MRI and we were a bit surprised. They actually raised the possibility of keeping her another night to fit in the MRI, and Kailyn was none too pleased, but it turns out that they can fit it in at 2:30. The nurse had to come in and put in another IV, because the MRI is with contrast, so she had to get stuck 2 more times (they missed the first time) :(

We’re glad that they can at least get the MRI in today, because nobody really wanted to spend another night here if we could get away with it. I would rather see her get the MRI done today though and make 100% sure she’s OK, so while we would rather have not had the unexpected delay, it is worth the wait in the long run…

I’m laughing, no offense. It sooo reminds me of the day we were to bring Handsome Son home. He was (appropriately enough) born on Labor Day after 25 1/2 hours of labor. (He didn’t want to leave mommy, obviously.) Anyway, because of a fever I ran during labor and the fact that labor went over 24 hours, he was kept in Level II nursery for three days. On day 4, we showed up with blankies and outfit and our track shoes, ready to bring him home. As I’m waiting, all gowned and gloved and ready to run to him with goin’ home clothes in hand, I heard a nurse talking to the doctor about a baby who had quit breathing. “Not mine!” I thought, ‘cuz the doc had already okayed his r
