While driving to Austin this evening, I was blessed to catch a couple of hours of Air America. One of those hours championed James Fetzer, JFK assassination conspiracy theorist, discussing the Scholars for 911 Truth that he founded and explaining why everything we know about that day is a lie. For example, I bet you did not know:
Not surprisingly, Air America didn’t dare have an opposing view - like someone from Popular Mechanics, whose analysis long ago debunked these loons. Still, it was amusing for a while. It got embarrassing, however, when two or three breathless callers from Texas tossed in their own theories (one of which was that Israel did it). Well, it would have been embarrassing if there had been more than 5 people listening.
It does not comfort me to know there are so many functional psychotics loose on society.
PS - Squawk tells me that Air America tells him that Elvis is performing for the victims next week. Ticket info TBA.
Abuse charges were filed Wednesday against a woman accused of fraudulently adopting and mistreating 11 New York children in order to bilk a child welfare agency out of $2 million.
Port St. Lucie police say she held the children like prisoners in her home, often handcuffing them together and not allowing them to use a bathroom. The children, who now range in age from 15 to 27, told police they were never allowed to attend school, see a doctor or a dentist and were barely fed.
All the victims had scars on their wrists from being handcuffed, police said.
Nine were in Florida state care. Some of the adults suffered serious handicaps. One is blind and mumbles. Another can barely walk or stand. None appeared to have more than a fourth-grade education, police said.
On the heels of Barack Obama running around trying to explain how and when he really would use military force - all in response to Hillary’s needling - we see that the Cintonistas’ strategy is indeed working:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Hillary Clinton has widened her lead over fellow Sen. Barack Obama in the race for the U.S. Democratic presidential nomination, a new poll showed on Wednesday.
. . .
Forty-three percent of Democratic respondents said they preferred the New York senator and former first lady over other Democratic candidates in the 2008 contest, up from 39 percent in June, the poll showed.
Cinton’s lead is now up to 43-22, a boost from her July lead of 39-25.
The poll also shows that, at this point, either one of these Democrats would beat Rudy Guliani.
So, is this just the swaying of the polls or is Obama on his way to becoming toast in this race? I say the latter.
Barack Obama, who would not keep troops in Iraq even to prevent a genocide, would be happy to send them to Pakistan:
WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Wednesday that he would send troops into Pakistan to hunt down terrorists even without local permission if warranted — an attempt to show strength when his chief rival has described his foreign policy skills as naive.
Despite the media lovefest with and slobbering over Obama, he’s finally starting to show how really wet behind the ears he is. The man who has not even served a full term in the Senate (and whose prior experience includes time in the Illinois state legislature), yet has the hubris to believe he should be president, has more than met his match. He has now been goaded by Hillary into showing how strong he really can be by postulating about using force here or there.
The merits of his ideas on this issue aside, he is clearly on the defensive. The first vote has not yet been cast and, by falling into the Clintonistas’ trap, he proves her point - he’s naive.
Despise Hillary and her gang all you want, but I predict they will shred Obama before it is all over. He hasn’t got a clue what awaits His Arrogance.
