I was just there earlier in the week. Another deputy was shot not far from here after stopping a guy on a motorcycle who was running red lights. The guy started running from the officer, turned and fired from about 40 yards away hitting him in the head. The officer is still alive but fighting for his life. When the police went to his home, they found shooting range targets with shots to the head area. The guy was a psycho who practiced shooting blowing people’s brains out.

If you’re a criminal in Broward County, you’re chances of getting shot first just went way up with these 2 incidents.

Everyone second guesses the actions of LEO’s, Firemen, and the military, but few have the courage to face the evils they do. God bless Deputy Reyka’s family and thanks for his service to his community.

These events make me wonder how we don’t hear about more LOE’s shooting first. It takes a great deal of control to not, simply let loose and take down someone who does the first thing that could be seen as a threat on their person. Those in law enforcement need more than our thanks they need our daily praise and prayer

Things like this shooting is what upsets me about Quanell Ten. In his “police cannot do anything right” attitude when dealing with the “brothers”, Mr. Ten never seems to know the facts and was not an eyewitness to what actually happen. In Mr. Ten’s “rush to judgement” the police are always wrong. The police shot someone, well didn’t you taser him. You taser him, well didn’t you negotiate. Mr. Ten needs to tell us how you negotiate with a person with a weapon that he intends to use. Maybe next time, the police ought to call for Mr. Ten so that we can see if he has the courage to face one of the “brothers” who is waving at weapon at him. Will Mr. Ten need a gun or a taser???? or will his “mouth” do??? He’ll probably have one of his bodyguards take the “brother” down!!!!

A lot of the LEO’s having to fire a weapon also has a lot to do with where they work at. I had a good friend who worked Airline and Little York and than they switched him to a crime lab.

Prior to that he had been on the beat for 18 years and never unholstered his weapon. Acres homes was a different question. And time has taken it to new heights. 30 years ago it wasn’t real easy to get the weapons but nowadays a five year old can get them.

Prayers for the Officer and his family

I ask those so critical of an officers acts while on duty and serving in a role to protect YOU - have any of you ever been in a situation where you found yourself with a loaded weapon aimed at another human being? I have.

    1. It’s not like in the movies.
    2. Chances are you and he both are scared sh–less, pumped up on adrenaline and “he” is out of his mind.

Unless you have been in that situation, I don’t care what ANY of your opinions are on the matter.

God bless this fallen warrior and his family.

Bravo! you are so right. No one knows unless they have been in that position or have been married to one in that position. It is split-second decisions. It is life on the edge. How many of you live that way? Not many, I would think. I know not me. God bless those who do this every day, day in and day out, not knowing.

Been there, Done that, and there is no time to think. Make a decision on instinct (which is usually the right decision)

However afterwards you have to live with the decision you made

I shed a tear unil I realized I made the right choice
