It’s about time !Illegal Immigration is going to dilute the United Staes of America into the United Mejico scrambles

The Dimwits will never get involved in the immigration issue because of the loss of potential voters and voter base that the Hispanic voters give them. The illegal immigration problem will affect everyone eventually even the Dimwits and the legal immigrants that are here. I still harp on the original problem, CLOSE THE BORDERS, or anything you try will not work. And quit trying to fight for more legislation, there is plenty out there to control the problems now, so try enforcing them first.

What bothers me is all these candidates are suddenly on the “illegal immigrants are bad for this country” bandwagon in order to win votes. But carefully look at their voting records or what they did in their past governmental offices. So much of the present illegal immigrant rhetoric you could cut and paste for each candidate, except for a few. Be careful. They may say one thing just to win votes, but really stand for something else. Just like Bush. We all know where Tancredo stands, for instance. We have always known where Hunter has always stood. Keep this in mind on the ones changing their stand on this one issue. Just remember who supported shamnesty (Brownback for instance) who now is 100% in support of getting rid of illegals.

If you have not already done so please go hunt the “Phony War on Terrorism” speech that Newt gave. I found it on You-tube. Newt is right as rain in this speech. Please do not say anything until you have heard it.

  5. Rastus on August 14th, 2007 at 8:29 pm

Yes sir, I’m listening in for any news on Hayseed Graham.

#3 Neo: Ya mean like Slicky Ricky did? :)

I know MOST of us here, REMEMBER. Others, however, have ADOST. (Attention Defecit…Ooooh! Shiney Thing!) Have ya been to the mall lately?

    Sad, to say the least!

    Rock On, Newt!

#5 Rastus: Read it, and weep!

    http://www.lindseygraham.com/

Read it and say: Weasels eat my flesh! :)

  8. RickG on August 14th, 2007 at 8:42 pm

    4. I have heard it. It’s a bunch of railing and repeating of statements made by others as if he came up with them on his own.

    6. If you’re referring to me, and suggesting I supported the amnesty bill, you are sorely confused. It was Bush’s very support for that bill, and his insults against people who opposed it, which finally drove me out of the Bush camp. And I did it right here, on LST, in plain view, with a Bush-bashing post. Read it and weep.

  9. RickG on August 14th, 2007 at 8:43 pm

    7.

Gee. He looks like he’s not feeling well in that picture. Maybe it was taken after the amnesty vote. He’s gritting his teeth, not smiling.

Any mayor that declares his city a sanctuary city for illegal aliens should be thrown in jail.

These mayors aid and abet criminal activity and the blood of the victims are on their hands.

The most hilarious thing on the first page of that website is the headline:

“Graham Applauds Administration Crackdown on Illegal Immigration.”

    Since when?

  12. Rastus on August 14th, 2007 at 9:03 pm

Surely those people in South Carolina could find someone who is not married to his sister or something like that to run against Hayseed - just about anybody could do it I think and win.

  13. southerntragedy on August 14th, 2007 at 9:04 pm

#8: No RickG., I was not referring to anyone in particular. I usually don’t hold grudges. Life’s too short!

I saw through Slicky Ricky and chose someone else who could of lied to me as well, but wasn’t falling for the same ol’ sham again. That’s all, shuuug! Nothing more!

I voted Kinky, Why the heck not! I just wanted to get Kinky in the Governor’s office! :) Besides, he helps fund an animal sanctuary. Can’t be all that bad, eh?

    Great post, BTW!

  14. EricPJohnson on August 14th, 2007 at 9:18 pm

    Rick

We could always ask Gingrich why he never ever thought to pass any of this while he was Speaker and controlled the legislative agenda for 6 years

And Bush was not referring to those who opposed the bill as racists he was refering to those who were racists using the opposition to the bill as legitimacy for their sick twisted thinking. (In other words people of principle had opposed the bill for many reasons, The David Dukes were assuning the best of America were in agreement with them)

I am the type of person who always believes the glass is half full, most anything is possible if we have a strong enough desire and the commitment to work hard and achieve.

But as I understand this illegal immigration issue based on Texpat’s explanation we are doomed.
Even if we created a faster due process system the amount of appeals a person can file would continue to delay the outcome while they continue to receive benefits and multiply in numbers.

I must refer back to my original statement, we need a Governor or better yet a group of Governors who take this issue and shove it down the throats of our Federal Leaders by refusing to provide education and medical benefits beyond emergency care. It may require a constitutional crisis to force a change. Fighting it through the legal system would take years and in the meantime more and more will flood our cities to the point that a victory would be meaningless. Look at the situation now, it is almost impossible to deport all the illegal’s. Give it three to five more years and it we will be too flooded with illegal’s to reverse the trend, and that is what they are shooting for. The more time they have the more assured they are of victory, get ready for it the train is on the track and approaching fast.

There has to be a battle between Texas and Federal Government. If our Governor, state reps., state senators, and county leaders had the guts to stand up and refuse education and benefits to illegal immigrants the president would be forced to back down. Bush or whoever was in office would never risk sending in the military to force Texas to comply. Will it happen? I doubt it.

re #10 Holy crap, I agree with phil!

As far as Newt’s speech on Detroit, I’d have to say he was dead on. No one can argue that the Detroit school system is not an utter failure.

Gingrich blasted the city of Detroit, Detroit Public Schools, the United Auto Workers and Michigan’s unemployment rate during an interview on Fox News Sunday in which he talked about how he would transform Washington.

A spokesman for Gingrich, an undeclared Republican presidential candidate who has been ramping up his public appearances, singled out Detroit and its schools because they’re the “best worst-case example” of bureaucracy and “a union structure that doesn’t work.”

“We should basically, fundamentally replace the Detroit school system with a series of experiments to see if they’ll work,” Gingrich said in the interview.

I watched the interview. The experiments he mentioned were things like the KIPP program which has proven very successful, but the teachers unions refuse to give up any control of educating our kids.

I agree with Phil as well

I’m callin’ Phil butta, ’cause he’s on a roll tonight, on other threads, as well! :)

  20. vlou on August 14th, 2007 at 10:57 pm

What a coincidence that all these presidential hopefuls are only now realizing that this illegal immigration issue is a problem? Their timing is just a political game, what else would you call it? They only tell you what you want to hear after the facts…that’s a politician.

It will take a real uprising in this country for this illegal immigration problem to get something done to get them to close the borders even at the cost of offending the Mexican and Canadian governments.

  21. plonker on August 14th, 2007 at 11:14 pm

Our leaders, like Us, are ‘all over the shop’ on Illeagal immigration. The crimes commited by those who are already identified as ‘possible’ felons is particularly galling. If we could prevent a percentage of the crime by going through all the people here without papers and immediately deporting those who are already known to us; it would be a great improvement. The lastest from the administration is, in my opinion, a Dog and Pony show. The purpose is too actually put a few businesses in severe pain by doing the Social Security # check etc. After which we will see the ’suffering’, both real and exagerated, which will turn the tide for the original Bill to be brought back in toto. It’s going to hapen it’s a done deal. Our job now is too limit the damage by Limiting forever what the illegal-turned -guest workers actually end up with. Give them a work visa ‘only’. If they are harmless. Go after the gangs. Let the ATF loose on MS-13 et al and move on. BUT ONLY AFTER the Border is CLOSED, the welfare office is CLOSED, they agree to stop the incrumental fight against ENGLISH.

    Sorry about spelling mistakes.

  23. Adee on August 14th, 2007 at 11:45 pm

Nice to see that our outrage over the immigration/amnesty bill wasn’t lost on the politicos, especially the GOP ones and the blue dog Dems. The Repubs are finally growing spines. Can we stand it? Guess so, but only if the spines last beyond election day. All of them should be concerned about angry villagers showing up with pitchforks and torches on occasion.

Sorry I jumped the gun. My bad. Mea culpa.

Maybe I’m getting a big head like Obama. I just hope I don’t get the ears, too! Thanks.

    14.

I don’t know about his racist comments, but he made a general blanket statement that those of us who opposed the bill didn’t have the country’s best interests at heart. I read it in print; I heard the audio of him saying it. He did not confine his comments about the opposition to “racists.”

    15.

If there’s a problem with abusive appeals in the immigration field, Congress should have the spine to deal with it. They’ve taken action to restrict death penalty appeals because of their endless nature, surely they can do the same thing with illegals.

  26. Gritsforbreakfast on August 15th, 2007 at 2:33 pm

FWIW, in Texas, we already put what’s called an “immigration tag” on every inmate from any country, not just Mexico, who entered the country illegally. They are deported, but not until after they’ve completed their sentence. It’s been that way for many years.

  27. retire05 on August 15th, 2007 at 10:58 pm

So why doesn’t Rick Perry withhold state funding from Austin, Houston and Katy for being sanctuary cities? He can do it with an executive order just as easily as the President could withhold federal funding.

Call Rick Perry. Demand he withhold state funding from any sanctuary city in Texas.

  28. cayla99 on August 17th, 2007 at 11:15 pm

What I can’t comprehend is which part of “illegal” are the “sanctuary cities” having difficulty in understanding? I have no sympathy at all for those who begin their careers in the US by breaking our laws. I am certain we have all heard the sob stories about the poor children who would become orphans if their parents were deported. I say shame on the parents for putting them in this position. Can anybody explain the difference between those children and the millions of American children who are without their parents because mom or dad had broken another one of our laws? Should we release every rapist and murderer we have in our prisons so that their children do not lose a parent? I know, the difference is that the honorable illegal immigrants were only trying to better their financial situations for the sakes of their families. Using that logic, I would be able to rob every bank in the country and get off with a pat on the shoulder. Robbing banks would improve my financial situation, and I do have small children. To think I would not be punished for breaking the law would be absurd. It should be equally absurd to believe we should reward those who have broken into our country and violated our most precious possession, our sovereignty
