Do you have guts? Well don’t keep ‘em all to yourself! The state has launched a website allowing potential organ donors to sign up online. Here’s how dire the problem is:
There are more than 96,000 patients in the United States awaiting transplantation—more than 7,000 are Texans.
Every 13 minutes, a new name is added to the national transplant waiting list. Every day, 17 people die waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.
It’s pretty easy. Sign up online — it took me two minutes — and you’ll get a letter in the mail. Sign it, get two witnesses, and sent it back. An organ and tissue donor can help as many as 50 people.
Still a bit queasy about the whole thing? Take a look at the myths and facts.

I already have a big red DONOR sticker on my license. When I die, my wife said she is going to have me stuffed and mounted, but not necessarily in that order.
Whatever parts that are left after I pass on have been duly marked for donation to whoever wants ‘em. But the way I live, I doubt there will be many useable ones left!
#2: I’m an organ donor as well. Don’t think there’s anything they can use, however.
I’m not totally worthless. Hopefully I will be on Oprah and be used as a BAD example!
BTW Matt: Thank you for the post. I hope more people will get involved.
I’ve known people who have been on lists. Some have gone to other countries to buy an organ. I’d be scared of having an operation in a foreign country, but kinda sounded like a routine operation. Skeeery, huh?
I wonder if they can use hands and feet (fingers and toes). The rest of my body is not donateable (new word)due to age and wear and tea. Nose runs, eyes water, mouth drools, tongue has lost it taste, heart races, stomach growls, knees bent from praying, arms and legs too short, private parts overused from births given, brain cells in reverse order (I’m left handed), eardrums are worn out from listening to talk radio, etc., etc….only good things left are fingers and toes…
Since I’m a private property advocate, I think that ’some’ compensation should be allowed.
