The terrorist organization Hamas is known for their ruthlessness. They routinely blow up Israeli citizens. Yet they are still the liberal world’s favorite “oppressed” minority. Now they’ve gone too far:
A show on Hamas TV depicting a man in a bee suit abusing cats and lions at a Gaza Strip zoo drew a protest Wednesday from the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
In the segment on the children’s program “Tomorrow’s Pioneers,” one of the show’s characters, a human-sized bee named Nahoul, swings cats around by their tails and throws stones at lions through the bars in their cage at the zoo.
According to the article this was a “do as I say, not as I do” demonstration of what NOT to do to animals. But a PETA spokesman had this to say:
“They say this is supposed to be educational on how not to treat animals, but it is common knowledge that children will mimic the behavior they see,” PETA spokesman Martin Mersereau told The Associated Press. “This will not win Hamas any sympathy now the world sees how they teach their children cruelty.”
…
“Teaching people to respect the most defenseless of animals helps people respect each other,” Mersereau said.
Children will mimic the behavior they see? Uh, yeah, they strap bombs on their own children so they can blow up Israeli children, just like Daddy did! How are you going to teach them to respect each other? I’m just guessing but treating animals humanely probably starts with treating HUMANS humanely.
Another ‘Non-Lethal Taser’ Death
by The Panda Man · 08/16/2007 2:32 pmUPDATED: See the latest after the “More” link at the bottom of the story.
Sad news of yet another Taser death in
[He] was first spotted in a garage inside the Tivoli Woods Orlando neighborhood Wednesday.
Police arrived at the scene and…officers were apparently forced to take action.
“When they first (shocked) [him, he] kind of slumped but was still fighting so they (shocked) [him] again,” homeowner Alfredo Rodriguez said.
The trespasser did not survive the incident, and residents are questioning what happened.
Some in the neighborhood said [he] didn’t have to die.
“From my vantage point, I didn’t see where it was an immediate need to Taser [him],” an anonymous neighbor said.
Local law enforcement has defended its handling of the situation, but that is not likely to quell the controversy in this tragic death. Jesse and Al are probably already making haste to Florida to take up the cause of their fallen brother:
As of my reading, two comments have been written over at the Chronicle’s website in response to the paper’s lead editorial today.
The conservative writes:
Anyone who takes their cue on military matters from the Houston Chronicle is a fool. None of this shameful den of liberals and pacifists have ever worn a uniform. And they have a consistent track record of being anti-military, anti-intelligence community and with a weak and mushy foreign policy bent. These armchair quarterbacks should stick to their social program knitting.
The liberal writes:
The hypocrisy here of the Houston Chronicle editorial board is just shameful. Our retreat from Afghanistan, in order to focus on Iraq, happened prior to the last presidential election. It was a decision - and a huge foreign policy and military blunder - made by the Bush administration. Yet this same editorial board again endorsed George W. Bush for re-election. You won’t find an admission of their mistake in this editorial, although clearly their guy cost our nation dearly.
And thus, we’ve reached a point where both the pro-military Right and the Bush-hating Left can agree on only one thing: the pablum printed on the Chronicle’s editorial pages sucks.
In this day and age, only the truly deranged - like Dan Rather - would claim that the “traditional” media outlets, such as newspapers and the original three broadcast networks, are not biased. But in case we need any reminders, we got a couple more this week (summarized here at NewsBusters.org).
First, it was reported that reporters and editors at the Seattle Times cheered the news that Karl Rove was resigning.
Then, Joe Scarborough revealed that personnel in the MSNBC newsroom - including some charged with coverage of the Administration - openly booed President Bush’s State of the Union address.
The really surprising news, though, is that: (1) the Times’ management subsequently issued an internal memo rebuking the employees for their conduct, and: (2) after Scarborough informed a network executive of MSNBC’s newsroom’s counduct, the executive “turned red” and the scene has not since been repeated. (Of course, one wonders if these actions were taken because both media outhouses outlets knew they couldn’t keep these acts under wraps.)
Back in “the day,” my journalism school, admittedly populated by liberals, actually forcefully made the distinction between reporting and commentary, and upbraided students who turned in news stories that sounded like columns.
Yet the Times and MSNBC can’t even run their “newsrooms” like a 1970s college newspaper! And these people want us to trust them?

Wait a second….. that isn’t what I think it is? Is it?
