As of my reading, two comments have been written over at the Chronicle’s website in response to the paper’s lead editorial today.
The conservative writes:
Anyone who takes their cue on military matters from the Houston Chronicle is a fool. None of this shameful den of liberals and pacifists have ever worn a uniform. And they have a consistent track record of being anti-military, anti-intelligence community and with a weak and mushy foreign policy bent. These armchair quarterbacks should stick to their social program knitting.
The liberal writes:
The hypocrisy here of the Houston Chronicle editorial board is just shameful. Our retreat from Afghanistan, in order to focus on Iraq, happened prior to the last presidential election. It was a decision - and a huge foreign policy and military blunder - made by the Bush administration. Yet this same editorial board again endorsed George W. Bush for re-election. You won’t find an admission of their mistake in this editorial, although clearly their guy cost our nation dearly.
And thus, we’ve reached a point where both the pro-military Right and the Bush-hating Left can agree on only one thing: the pablum printed on the Chronicle’s editorial pages sucks.

Matt, I’m always amused to hear editorialists trot out the old, tired response: Well, we must be doing something right, we made everybody mad.
It never occurs to them they might actually have gotten it so wrong it is glaringly obvious to everyone.
Your conclusion is that the Chronical sucks.
And this is news to anyone?
Like I said, if you insist on reading that rag, have tums and malox available.
I think everybody knows the Crummyicle is ultra left wing rag that has been very anti-Bush even if the newspaper is in the state the President resides in. I feel sorry for anybody who has to rely on the one-sided opinions of the Crummyicle to make decisions. God gave you a brain, use it!!!
God gave me a brain.
I used it.
I quit the Comical last year.
I quit the Chronicle many years ago. I actually get a kick out of people try to sell me subscriptions. They get an earfull.
Just this AM, a co-worker was complaining that the Chron article on the just completed spacewalk was accompanied by a photo of the prior spacewalk from two days earlier. How hard should that be to get right?
“…anti-intelligence community…” that about sums it up for the Chron I think.
