Fake Indians, real illegals team up to scam U.S.

Just in case you’re not pissed off enough about the whole illegal-immigration thing, this ought to do it:

For prices starting at $50, two nonfederally recognized Indian tribes are offering membership to thousands of illegal immigrants, claiming they can achieve legal status by joining the groups.

In Nebraska, some people reported paying up to $1,200 to join the Kaweah Indian Nation, which became the target of a federal investigation after complaints about the tribe arose in at least five states.

Manuel Urbina, the tribe’s high chief, acknowleged his group has sold at least 10,000 tribal memberships to illegal immigrants for about $50 each.

“We are not going against the law, we’re with the law,” he said, claiming membership papers can help illegal immigrants avoid being detained by authorities if they are asked for documents.

The federal Bureau of Indian Affairs denied the Kaweah group recognition in 1985 because it was not a real tribe.

I know of one fake Indian who could use this kind of service.

As for the bio on Ward Churchill, umm, the recent publicity about people freely making changes to the wikipedia entries to enhance/detract from the info currently onsite should make one view his entry most carefully.

Don’t get me wrong folks I’m still staunchly against illegal immigration - but ya gotta at least partially admire the idea - when one considers from a certain perspective that Anglo Saxon Europeans are the original illegal aliens…..and leave it to a Red man to think of yet another way to make a buck!

So I’m split on this one folks - it’s still WRONG - but kinda like some of my male high school classmates that wore wigs for 4 years to avoid getting haircuts………

Census Bureau vs. Homeland Security? I read where the U.S. Census Bureau is asking that raids to find illegal aliens be stopped so they might count everyone (legal and illegal) in the 2010 census. I have a better idea. Why don’t “we, the people” simply refuse to be counted until all the illegals have been purged from our number?
