Gun control not working? Blame the victim.

Britain is always held up as a model by gun control advocates here in the US. That model, however, seems to be proving the old adage, “If guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns”, true:

The number of young people prosecuted for firearms offences has soared by 20 per cent in the past five years, it was revealed earlier this month.

In 2001, 1,193 youngsters under age 21 went to magistrates courts on gun related charges. By 2005, that had risen to 1,444. The statistics come after a recent wave of gun crime in Britain’s inner cities, with many victims not even out of their teens.

Britain’s answer? New laws to require citizens to report gun crime:

In April Bernard Hogan-Howe, the chief constable of Merseyside Police, insisted new laws to make reporting information on shootings and possession of guns a ‘duty’’ were essential because people were too scared to come forward.

Maybe they’re too scared because, oh I don’t know, the criminals have guns and they don’t???

In an interview with The Guardian, he said Britain should adopt laws similar to those in Australia “where people have a duty to report information about gun crime to the police”.

But he called on the Government to push them further and apply them to firearm victims too frightened of reprisals to press charges.

“The challenge is people who survive do not want to complain and the best witness is quite often the victim who can provide a description and motive,” he said.

So their answer is to press charges against the unarmed victims and force them to tell the Bobbies, also unarmed, who the armed criminals are. And people wonder why we are so passionate in our protection of the 2nd Amendment.

When I was in the military we trained with the 22nd SAS in Wales. They were one tough bunch. I find it hard to imagine the Brits have turned into such weenies. WHO DARES WINS

Gun control works. For criminals and politicians. Hmmm… seing a pattern. Neither work and make a living off the fear and hard work of others.

  3. Robert M Says:

What has kept criminals from going wild here is the fact that the potential victim and/or the police can carry guns and fight back.

I have a permit to carry my firearm and do so at all times. I am not a “nut” but I do believe I have the right to protect myself and my family.

Just look at the crime rates in places such as New York City and Washington DC and Philadelphia. Why are they so high? Simple. The “bad guys” KNOW citizens are defenseless because of draconian laws that prohibit possession of firearms.

The following link tells a story of how a lack of a firearm put a family through grief.

Here’s how a gun owner helped law enforcement:

It’s also important to remember why the 2ed Amendment to the Constitution was created. It’s NOT in place for people to hunt and target shoot. It IS in place to keep government in check. If government officials know that should something go seriously wrong with our Republic style system that armed citizens are in place. The 2ed Amendment is the “reset” button to the Constitution.

Also if you do not subscribe to the 2ed Amendment take a look at
Article 1, Section 21 of the Pennsylvania Constitution:“The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.”

Gun Control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and
strangled with her panty hose,  is somehow morally
superior to a  woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal
    bullet wound.
