The Texas dems spin so fast it makes me dizzy.

  2. Bannable Lecturer on September 8th, 2007 at 10:11 am

This was the same group that 5 years ago predicted their dream team would sweep Perry, Dewhurst and Abbot

And then couldn’t get anyone to run against them last year

  3. An Observer on September 8th, 2007 at 10:21 am

Nothing more arrogant than a democrat.

  4. Neocon on September 8th, 2007 at 11:05 am

The koolade they’re drinking must be awfully strong!

  5. Wino on September 8th, 2007 at 11:36 am

The democrats are Abraham Lincoln’s “some of the people.”

  6. houstondem on September 8th, 2007 at 12:31 pm

3/4 - You guys apparently did not pay attention in 2006. The democratic base is driven by anger…they WILL come out in droves in 2008.

Having said that Cornyn is relatively safe but instead of getting 65% of the vote he will probably get 55%. And the republican nominee should be okay in Texas. But nationally dems will pick up at least 5 senate seats (especially with Hagel and J. Warner retiring and Kerrey and M. Warner hopefully running for the dems). I could also see the dems picking up a couple of house seats in Texas.

#6 If wishes were fishes, we’d all have some fried.

  8. Rastus on September 8th, 2007 at 1:00 pm

Rep’s have sure enough proved that they don’t have what it takes when it comes to governing with the wishes of the people. Wouldn’t surprise me if Dims make a strong showing.

“Nothing more arrogant than a democrat.”

    Two dhimmicrats?

  10. KRAUT on September 8th, 2007 at 1:29 pm

Sure, the dems are a lousy bunch!
But most of our so called Conservatives are no better. They let us down in a big way.
I wonder how many of us will stay home or just not vote on certain races in the upcoming election.
Do any of you really think that reelecting Perry and Dewhurst was a good thing? I don’t!
The secret is that we all show up in the primaries and get rid of the incumbents who are bad,
and this means incumbents on both sides of the aisle.

  11. Adee on September 8th, 2007 at 1:43 pm

Hamous, gosh you voted in the Dem e-primary poll for Dennis (the Menace) Kucinich? Good goin’ there.

But would you agree that Gravel of Alaska is more of a fit with Ron Paul on our side? One of the Fox commentators at the Tuesday GOP debate speculated a Paul-Gravel debate would be quite something. Agreed on that one.

  12. hamous on September 8th, 2007 at 1:50 pm

Adee - He’s just so cute! Like the Lollipop Guild guys from the Wizard of Oz. You just want to pick ‘em up and throw ‘em in the air or bounce them on your knee or something.

I must admit I haven’t watched a single Dem debate this year so I’m not familiar with Gravel. I’ll have to check him out. I have no doubt that none of them will get my vote come November ‘08.

  13. An Observer on September 8th, 2007 at 2:07 pm

The “06 elections were a revolt vote from a lot of conservatives. Most of the dim bulb democrats are still saying and thinking it was a mandate for them. What a bunch of morons. Go rename another federal building or something.

  14. Adee on September 8th, 2007 at 2:09 pm

Hamous #12, Mr. Gravel was on Laura Ingraham’s program about a month or so ago, and she did her darndest to steer him into campaign mode. Every time she asked a policy question, he’d start out on point and then drift off onto a favorite, but not really pertinent, tangent. After a while she just gave up. She was most polite the whole time. Good for her. I dare say she and her entire staff had to be rolling eyes in disbelief when it was conclded.
My first thought on hearing it was: Double-parked in the Twilight Zone time, folks.

The Fox folks surely have heard him before, thus the comment about a Paul-Gravel debate.

  15. Wino on September 8th, 2007 at 2:18 pm

If Perry runs again, and republicans actually pay attention, then the Dhimmicrats have a point.

I won’t vote for Perry or DoHurts again, ever. I don’t care who the opponent is. Perry and cronies are as bad, if not worse, than any democrats.

Eff the Texas Grand Ole Prevaricators.

  16. Neocon on September 8th, 2007 at 2:21 pm

Mike Gravel is totally looneytoons. I doubt it would be a very interesting debate because Gravel just makes no sense at all.

  17. Adee on September 8th, 2007 at 3:11 pm

Neocon, you are right about the looneytoon factor. Maybe it helps if the audience is several sheets to the wind….

  18. Neocon on September 8th, 2007 at 3:46 pm

Adee, you may be right; however, I think it would tend to sober one up instead! Gravel is a real piece of work.

  19. Robert M on September 8th, 2007 at 4:03 pm

If the Dimwits nominate HELLary, the Republicans will definitely turn out. There is a long way to go but I don’t give the Dimwits much of a chance because they don’t have any strong candidates with name recognition thru out the state.

  20. american woman on September 8th, 2007 at 4:58 pm

#19 Robert I agree. The dem strategy will be to try to keep us in scandal, demoralized and unplugged. With the right leadership, we will turn out in droves to outwit the Clinton machine.

  21. Elizabeth on September 8th, 2007 at 5:55 pm

Gravel is the most openly hostile candidate of them all. He becomes enraged at nothing and it’s scary to watch.

  22. retire05 on September 8th, 2007 at 7:12 pm

Ummm, let’s me get this right

1,300 people who were delegates or alternates in one of the last four TxGOP conventions who had to pay their own way to Dallas, rent a hotel room, eat at restraurants, and manage to take off work to do so showed up compared to 6,800 Dhimmicrats clicking onto the internet while sitting at their desks in their pajamas.
Yeah, I’m impressed with the Dhimmicrat numbers, aren’t you?

I wonder how many of those Dhimmicrats are Austin homeless who have managed to find a computer and some wi-fi service outside of Starbucks in leiu of 1,300 Republicans with jobs?

  23. american woman on September 8th, 2007 at 7:19 pm

#22 Oh retire, so well said!

  24. Simple Simon on September 8th, 2007 at 7:49 pm

    3, Mr Observer,

It has been my casual observation of late that both parties have no shortage of arrogance.

This is language usually reserved for the foot soldiers of each part….kinda like pre-game pep talks given to adolescent high schoolers every Friday night during football season by high school coaches.

Pity…because it is actually better to appear behind….even if you lead in the polls. There is just a chance your core voters will not show up if they think the election is “in the bag”.

    Simple

  25. Bannable Lecturer on September 8th, 2007 at 9:35 pm

    Wino

    Perry is running again!

  26. Adee on September 8th, 2007 at 11:36 pm

Umm, another strange Dem opinion appeared in the Sept. 9 letters to the editor of the Fort Bend Herald (www.fbherald.com). (On the weekends the paper comes out on Saturday but has Sunday’s date since they don’t publish on Sunday.) It’s from the Dem Precinct 1040 Chair who is vehemently skewering Nick Lampson as being too conservative and too supportive of President Bush. The nastiness and anger expressed would make you think he was a Republican. His voting record is anything but conservative. It is another Twilight Zone moment.

Sorry I’m not computer literate enough to create the link, all I can do is give the web address.

  27. american woman on September 9th, 2007 at 10:01 am

Adee you mean we have Republicans who actually get angry and vehemently skewer someone? I didn’t hear any skewering on the Senate floor when Chuck Schumer decided to let the world know how inept our soldiers are. That they can’t do anything right and it took the locals to clean up Anbar. I haven’t heard any skewering about Calderone telling American what our laws should be and how to run this country. I’ve heard talk radio, bloggers, and internet folks skewer but not the venerable senate.

  28. DanielJames on September 9th, 2007 at 11:58 am

“Nothing more arrogant than a democrat.” huh?

The republican party is in serious trouble and some bone head spits that comment out?

    YGTBSM

Thansk simple for poiting out that both parties are chalked full of arrogance.

    AW #27

Yepper. You did not hear a peep. I guess silence is truly golden.

  29. Adee on September 9th, 2007 at 7:25 pm

#27 AW, It was a Democrat Precinct Chair skewering Democrat Nick Lampson for not being liberal enough.

The guy has something like a 95% liberal voting rating last time I saw anything about it. He took Tom Delay’s seat in Dist. 22 when Shelley Sekula Gibbs had to run as a write-in for the regular 2-year term, and he didn’t win by much considering all the hoops we had to jump through to vote for her as a write-in.
She was also running to fill DeLay’s unexpired term, and for that she was on the ballot. So we in Dist. 22 had to vote for her twice.

Not much has been tossed around as to who might be running to oppose Lampson in 2008, but we need a strong conservative on the ballot. Would love to have Paul Bettancourt run, but he has said no. Charlie Howard from Sugar Land, currently the Dist. 26 rep in the Texas House, would be a good choice also.

  30. DennisOnTheRight on September 9th, 2007 at 8:07 pm

“Nothing more arrogant than a democrat.”??? I think Gov Goodhair probably takes the cake in that category.

  31. DennisOnTheRight on September 9th, 2007 at 8:15 pm

As far as the so-called editorials from unhappy dems, several of these showed up in various places within a few days of each other. All variations of the same theme - that Lampson is acting like a conservative. Yeah, right. This is simply a campaign ploy. Lampson knows he has to create the image of being a moderate (or even conservative) democrat in order to minimize republican anti-lib turnout. They’ve obviously spread the word among some of the minions to start editorializing that Lampson’s too conservative for liberals. Yeah, I’m sure we’ll all be fooled by that.
