Dr. Bonner R. Cohen is a senior fellow at The National Center for Public Policy Research and author of the book, The Green Wave: Environmentalism and its Consequences. He recounts here the continuing efforts by individuals and organizations to engage former Vice-President Al Gore in public debate about his environmental campaign.
Czech President Vaclav Klaus, who addressed the General Assembly on climate change September 24, is but the latest global warming skeptic to receive the cold shoulder from Gore. In ads appearing in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and Washington Times, Klaus has called on Gore to face him in a one-on-one debate on the proposition: “Global Warming Is Not a Crisis.” Earlier in the year, similar challenges to Gore were issued by Dennis Avery, director of the Center for Global Food Issues and senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, and Lord Monckton of Brenchley, a former adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. All calls on the former vice president to face his critics have fallen on deaf ears.
I am incredulous observing a society in which a prominent former public official can run a self-serving, self-aggrandizing public campaign hectoring governments, lecturing scientists and scolding the public like some crazed environmental Jimmy Swaggart. Even the most left wing politician gets some flack from the press, but Gore has managed to create a shield around himself and his thesis like an impenetrable bubble. It truly is an astounding thing to see.

Um, anybody suspect George Soros has a hand in this?
Good question Adee. When speaking about the left, what does George Soros not have his hand in? I do think Gore is disappointed in his carbon credit companies. Hopefully this get rich quick scheme has failed.
AlBore is a real piece of work - no more hypocritical than Rosie-no-one-should-own-guns-except-my-bodyguards O’Donnel
Today the one’s paying the price of his idiocy are the students forced to watch and taught his words are fact, tomorrow these students will be adults participating in the operation of this society and we will all suffer.
al-gore should be in prison for criminal fraud. There is no such thing as man-made global warming. It’s preposterous and only idiot liberals would believe in something so ridiculous.
As long as there is a liberal media, people like Algore will never be called to the carpet about anything, no matter how much evidence to the contrary you have. But it should show you that either he cannot defend what he honestly believes or he already knows his beliefs are false.
Global warming is a religon and as such we must noy critisize It or Its’ profit Al Gore !
opps - must not- this one finger typeing has it’s drawbacks - it would also help if I could spell - Bill

I pity the world in which a child grows up and has to drive a crappy car that can’t smoke the tires. Unless that is, it is smoking because the crappy little electric motor is burning up trying to move the car….
Science, when used in a political context, is just fuel for the political fire. Anyone who listens to politicians or priests for scientific guidance clearly has no respect for science, and probably no knowledge either.
My mind is open concerning the nature of global climate change and its causes. The main source of my skepticism is the imperfection of our weather models. It would be nice if we had thousands of years of data, too, but that’s just wishful thinking.
I wish that debate with Gore would take place largely because I tend to put my focus in another direction: assuming there is significant climate change taking place, is it really a crisis? Sure, disruptions will occur, but will they really be any worse than the myriad of population disruptions that have occurred over the millenia? It could even be exciting.
It is certainly possible that man has contributed to the phenomenon, either by accelerating natural tendencies, or by holding them at bay. I say that, but I still think there is no definitive way to prove it, and I am doubtful there ever will be. Question is, can nations make any significant changes in a viable period of time? And do we know enough, is our climate modeling so perfect, that we can be confident that the changes we make will cause an improvement and not a worsening of the situation?
The Goreacle answers to no man!! He is the High Priest of Global Warming. As such, his level of knowledge dwarfs that of us mere mortals, so we wouldn’t understand anyway.
