I saw those reports and the people jumping with glee about them, thinking this would put the final nail in GWB’s coffin.

Nonsense. Allowing that maniac to be free with a billion dollars and his WMD information would have been catastrophic for the free world. If anything, GWB comes across looking better for not taking the easy path.

The left will ignore any information that does not coincide with their template. It’s not surprising they will ignore the facts and use partials to make their forever flawed point.

  3. hamous on September 29th, 2007 at 10:45 am

And the “Bush lied about WMDs” idiots fail to see the dichotomy they’ve placed themselves in. Their ability to fabricate varying degrees of truth is amazing.

Bush: The more Europeans attack me, the stronger I am at home.

Yes! Where did that Bush go?

  5. An Observer on September 29th, 2007 at 12:34 pm

    Typical!

  6. Robert M on September 29th, 2007 at 4:01 pm

If they found the WMD’s and placed them in front of the ultra left wing Dimwit Bush-haters, they would probably say he planted them there. There is no converting Bush-haters who seem to think they are running against him in the next election or maybe they think they can change the election results and then gain a morale victory!!!!! Or maybe they think 2008 should be given to them by default because they got cheated in 2000 and 2004.

This just shows us the kinds of deals the Left would make with bloodthirsty terror supporting nations.

A billion dollar prize payment for killing a million people, supporting terror in Isreal, and invading his neighbors would have been what Saddam Hussein would have gotten had the Democrats who say we should negotiate been in charge. That, and all the WMD information he could sell or give to anybody who wanted to join him in the vendetta against the United States he surely would have embarked upon once he reached his favorite Arab haven state.

One wonders what they’ll give Iran for making nuclear bombs and supporting Hezbollah.

It also shows that in thier hatred of Bush is both illogical and pathological. They were so sure that the “had” him, they didn’t even notice that this transcript proves that concern over WMD was the real reason we went to war, that Bush did not lie about it, and that Saddam was responsible for convincing the world that he had it.

One other thing it illustrates: the stunning willingness to selectively report “the truth” by Left Wing Bloggers and the Dinosaur Media who have joined them in thier blind hatred of one man.

Where have been, Sarge ? I thought maybe you didn’t like us anymore.

  9. Adee on September 29th, 2007 at 11:42 pm

Guess the lefties won’t believe the above transcript any more than they believe the testimony of Saddam’s general who said missiles and other WMD got hustled over the border into Syria. Earlier in September we have the satisfyingly successful Israeli strike on the nuclear weapons facility in Syria where the Iranian technicians got wiped out. Where do the dimwit lefties think that stuff and those techies came from–the Tooth Fairy?

Imagination, what will be visited upon us should we allow a Democrat victory?

Work, work, work—that’s all I know.

Fixing to head back in about 15 minutes. It’s that oilfield pipeline bending plant in Matamoros I told y’all about a month ago. 6 phases, 4 in the shop already. They haven’t even poured concrete because of all the rain, but the client is still p.o.’d that one phase is about a week late.

I’ve got a flat spot on both sides of my nose from keeping it to that grindstone, my fingers are bones, and I’ve had to have a truckload of midnight oil delivered to the compound becase all the candles here have been burned at both ends—–

    #11 Sarge

I’ve been there many times. Many a project I slept in my office and worked into the next day. Good Luck.

“This just shows us the kinds of deals the Left would make with bloodthirsty terror supporting nations.”

This was a joke, right? I am sure that you are fully aware of previous Republican administrations in the White House involvement with Saddam’s use of such weapons. Remember the crimes against humanity that Saddam was executed for?

“In response to the gassing, sweeping sanctions were unanimously passed by the US Senate that would have denied Iraq access to most US technology. The measure was killed by the White House.”

Oh yeah, it was a Republican White House that killed the measure.

We can’t have history both ways either.

    http://www.gulfweb.org/bigdoc/report/r_1_2.html#exports

I’d also reccommned checking out the US GAO report:

U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO)February 7, 1994 Letter Report titled “Iraq: U.S. Military Items Exported or Transferred to Iraq in the 1980s” (GAO/NSIAD-94-98)

    http://www.usiraqprocon.org/bin/procon/procon.cgi?database=5-B-Subs-2.db&command=viewone&op=t&id=13&rnd=52.014538572209275

We need to get beyond this right and left argument, and concentrate on right and wrong.

  14. sargevining on September 30th, 2007 at 6:36 pm

    One big difference, there Mike:

    9/11

After 9/11, the Right will not deal with terrorists, and the Left excoriates them forbeing troglodyte neocons who are “not being willing to negotiate.”

The Left is screaming this weekend that we didn’t “need” to go to war. All we needed to do was buy Saddam off. Al gore would have taken the deal. After Saddam left, he would have sat back like Jimmy Carter did when the Shan left Iran, see who won the blood bath, and then negotiate with the winner.

Had they been in charge in 2003, Saddam would be sipping juleps in Damascus right now, sitting on a billion dollars and sending a couple thousand to Palestinian families everytime one of thier kids blows up Isreali kids, and cutting a deal with Osama Bin Laden.

Iraq would have fallen into the same chaos it fell into, only there wouldn’t be any US troops on the gorund to be the ones who chose who got to be the winner. The Iranians would have pulled the same kind of crap they have been pulling, and we wouldn’t be there to stop them.

It would have been the worst case scenario–a reapeat of what happened to us in Iran in 1979–perpetrated by the same kind of foreign policy advocated by te same people who advocated it then.

What this transcript shows is that Saddam had the whole world convinced he had WMD capabilites and a WMD program. Bush took the least worst choice from among a list of choices where there were no good ones. We got a war, Saddam got his neck snapped, Osama didn’t get the WMD secrets, and we occupy the most strategic ground in the Middle East. If Iran wants to send reenforcements and supplies to Hexbollah, they have to put it on a ship rather than put them on the railroads and highways that run through Iraq.

The world, and especially Isreal, is much safer because of it.

#13 - That is all very interesting, but do you have any information on how Pakistan fits into the story?

  16. texpat on September 30th, 2007 at 9:07 pm

Very good, Rip, very good. My thoughts exactly…

  17. hamous on September 30th, 2007 at 10:11 pm

#15 & 16 Come on guys! It’s the first post in a long time that he’s made that didn’t mention Pakistan or Musharraf. That’s progress.

  18. Dov on October 1st, 2007 at 12:47 am

It is October 1. A new month awaits us. The PGR ride yesterday was very interesting. G-d Bless all of the Gold Star Mothers.

  19. Gritsforbreakfast on October 1st, 2007 at 9:50 am

That’s not anything ever disputed, Texpat. Saddam had a WMD program that inspectors said had been shut down, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t still “information” that could be taken. “Information” about WMD is not the same as actual weapons.

  20. TheRipper on October 1st, 2007 at 2:22 pm

    Grits:

You obviously haven’t been paying attention. The unhinged left insists that Saddam never had WMD, didn’t have plans for WMD, and Bush & Cheney made it all up cause they wanted to attack Iraq.
