They say that political campaign managers like to work with candidates that stay on message. If that is true, then campaign managers across America must love to work with Tom Tancredo. Tancredo has one message and one message only - illegal immigration - and he sticks to it no matter what.
So I suppose that it is only natural for the liberal bias of the Houston Chronicle to rear its head as Tancredo visits Houston tonight.
The event highlights a political wrinkle in big and small cities in Texas. When giving speeches, even the most forceful critics of U.S. immigration policy may end up clearing their throats with water poured by an undocumented server.
What a joke. Get the image that the Chron is putting out there? The nation’s most outspoken critic of illegal immigration is going to have to clear his parched throat with a glass of water handed to him by an illegal immigrant. Nice, eh?.
The article revolves around the fact that Tancredo will be speaking at a restaurant known for employing and supporting illegals.
“Our company, our industry in particular, has already had a large degree of immigration workforce involved in it,” Joe Taylor, spokesman for Dallas-based Brinker International, which owns the Maggiano’s chain, told the Dallas Morning News last year. Brinker, which also owns the Chili’s and On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina restaurant chains, has said it employs more than 33,000 Hispanics nationwide.
Is that spokesperson saying what I think he’s saying? Maybe someone should direct I.C.E. to these restaurants. And maybe I should find another place get a glass of water for my parched throat.

Sounds to me like that spokesman is indeed saying what you think he’s saying. Lazy employers just don’t care if their worker has legal documentation or a fake I.D. from a flea market. What would happen if citzens wrote this company to express there anger?
How about this statement by the Crummyicle: Isn’t it ironic that Mr. Tancredo might be or is more likely to be mugged by an illegal alien??
Jolly, I take issue with the term “immigrant”. A person wanting to immigrate usually assimilates to the current resident country.
“Alien” is a more suitable description for “illegal aliens” since they have no intention of assimilating.
Thank you.
My son worked at Chilis about a year ago. They will hire ANYBODY, regardless of their legal status. He told me stories of fry cooks who would suffer serious burns all over their arms and the managers would look the other way so they wouldn’t have to record/report the injuries as is required by state and OSHA regulations.
I do not eat at Chilis because they knowingly hire illegals and they ignore safety laws.
Unfortunately, Tancredo is still a flake.
