Islam Honors Women

by BigJolly | 01/14/2008 9:01 am | Alert moderator

So says ‘de Ayatollah:

Khamenei told the Iranian students’ conference that in the Iranian vision of Islam, it was determined that poor women should be compelled to cover their entire bodies and faces in order to honor them and make their dress conform to the style adopted by aristocratic women. This policy, he said, logically followed from the conclusion that men have an “inborn desire for sexual violence.”

In ancient Iran, aristocratic women used to wear hijab,” he said. “Women from lower classes did not bother. But when Islam came, it rejected such instances of discrimination. It said that all women must wear the hijab. In other words, it wanted to honor all women. This is what Islam says. Now, they [in the West] behave as if we are doing something wrong and they are doing the right thing! No, they are in the wrong. They must answer why they have been treating women like a commodity in order to gratify their own lust.

“I received some statistics yesterday,” the ayatollah continued. “According to those statistics, one third of women in the world are beaten and battered by men. In my opinion, this is very heart-rending; it makes one tearful. And these instances of abuse mainly happen in the industrial countries of the West. This stems from men’s inborn desire for sexual violence.

“In their sensationalism concerning women’s affairs,” he continued, “they blame us by saying: You have made hijab compulsory. They themselves have made lack of hijab compulsory. They do not allow girl students to enter university, if they wear a headscarf. Yet they have the audacity to question us by saying: Why have you made hijab compulsory?”

Wearing the hijab, he said in answering his own question, “is aimed at honoring women, whereas that [the practices of the West] aim to abuse and insult women.”

Hmm. Let’s see. How does the religion of peace honor women?

Pardon me if I’m skeptical.

The only truth abot the ROP is it ain’t about peace. Pieces maybe

  2. Maltboy! Says:

Take a look at this video clip aired on Al Jazeera TV. Pretty brave for this woman to speak up like this.

The guy sounds like a Radcliffe-educated feminazi to me.

  4. dcgirl Says:

This is like a twilight zone version of school uniforms!

  5. houstondem Says:

Hmm. Let’s see. How does America honor women?

We objectify women in advertising and media. We tell women they have to be a size 4 to be pretty. We tell women they need certain size breasts to be considered attractive. We tell women they need to spray paint their makeup on to be pretty. We tell women they needs certain hair, nails, clothes, etc. to meet a certain standard of physical attractiveness…

Now tell me who is really more oppressed the Muslim woman or the American woman?

  6. Maltboy! Says:

    #5

That’s right! And we stone them to death when they don’t comply! Oh, wait…

  7. houstondem Says:

I figured my comment would be met with simplistic thinking. I am not talking about the laws of the land I am talking about the rules of the society.

  8. Maltboy! Says:

The question isn’t “Did your momma drop you on your head when you were a baby?” it’s “How many floors up was she when she did it?”

  9. BigJolly Says:

    LOL

  10. Shannon Says:

There used to be an acronym in use around here that would be quite useful in responding to your #5, houstondem.

Your question is so fatuous, it merits no response.

  11. houstondem Says:

8,9,10 - Brilliant insight. Very thought provoking. Thank you for opening my mind and expanding my horizons.

    God bless y’all.

  12. StacyE Says:

Muslim women. And shame on you.

  13. Matt Bramanti Says:

#5: Please tell me you’re joking, and that you’re not seriously equating Cosmopolitan magazine with the wholesale acceptance of extrajudicial executions.

  14. Big45Iron Says:

HoustonDem#5, no it’s liberals who do all the things you said in #5. The only things conservatives ask of women are that they have conservative values. All the rest of those things they are free to do or not to do on their own.

But it’s the liberals who carry a stick. Just let any minority dare to get so uppity as to leave the Dem plantation, and liberals will hunt them down and punish them. Liberals allow zero freedom of thought by minorities. They better toe the liberal line, or they will be made to suffer. I give you for example, Rod Paige, Condi Rice, Colin Powell http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0geu9yGpItHeAoAzZpXNyoA?p=Comments%2C+harry+bellafonte%2C+colin+powell&fr=yfp-t-312&ei=UTF-8

and the black Houston police officer who said that Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell should be killed as a race traitor for supporting Pres. Bush.

Let’s also not forget these liberal comments by Alec Baldwin who wanted to drag Henry Hyde and his whole family out on the street and stone them to death: http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=1120

We won’t forget hearing Baldwin’s infamous phone message to his daughter.

Then there is liberal Mike Wallace who would let US troops die just to get a story: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/press/vanities/fallows.html

So HoustonDem, please don’t try and tell us our failings as opposed to a tyrannical despotic society as is radical Islam, which much more closely resembles the model of liberals/socialists/communists. Go live in that society for a couple of years in THEIR world (not some Western compound), then come back here and see if you still envision us in the same way.

  15. Katfish Says:

    #13 - Well he TRIED didn’t he?

I’d refrain from saying “typical Liberal”………..if it wasn’t………

  16. Shannon Says:

    Long live the patriarchy!!

  17. Katfish Says:

Khoumeni “honoring females” is about as realistic as Madeline Murray O’Hare reciting the Lord’s Prayer……….

  18. Michael Says:

Not a dem, not a liberal, but I agree with HoustonDem except that a size 4 needs to lose weight. Only 2 or 0 will be sufficient. We have not honored women in the west, though I agree that the ROP isn’t honoring women either.
Print media, billboards, internet banners, hollywood, dancing monkeys (a la Spears), and the like serve to objectify women in the worst way.

I have a four year old daughter. I am pushing for chastity belts and suits or armor to be “in style” in 10 years. If that happens, you know where it started.

  19. Maltboy! Says:

I think houstondem is joking, or more accurately, trolling. If not, their argument is so inane it isn’t worthy of a serious response. If one argues with the village idiot, casual observers may not know who’s who. That’s why I prefer just to poke fun at ‘em instead.

  20. dcgirl Says:

    Here’s my poke!

BTW - I am not a size 4, do not paint on my makeup, have never had a pedi or mani, and wear what feels comfortable, but looks nice. I do not subscribe to the media’s version of how I should look, but to say that any woman that takes pride in their appearance is oppressed is ludicrous.

And I have not felt that if I didn’t tow the (liberal) media line as to how I should look (and think) that I would be stoned, shunned, etc. like they are in Muslim countries.

  21. Big45Iron Says:

Maltboy #19, but it is much like Thomas Jefferson said regarding the purpose of the Declaration. It was “not to find out new principles, or new arguments, never before or thought of, but rather to place before mankind the common sense of the subject, in terms so plain and firm as to command their assent, and to justify ourselves in the independent stand we are compelled to take.”

In this case though, the placing of common sense principles and facts before the body of people we call liberals is today a useless gesture, since liberals by their very nature lack both common sense and logic. It does however DEMAND we restate and reinforce our case before those who have not eschewed the ability to reason with logic and common sense, and who do still deal in facts and plain and simple truths – truths we hold to be self evident.

  22. Big45Iron Says:

The silence from HoustonDem is deafening, as it was from most liberals last week and the week before regarding Mike Wallace’s statement that he would let American troops die just to get a story.

  23. Shannon Says:

    Iron My Shirt!!!

  24. Maltboy! Says:

And make me a sandwich! (At which time my wife would wiggle her fingers at me and say “You’re a sandwich!”.

  25. Maltboy! Says:

#23 - I found out a long time ago that $1.09 at the cleaners is a much better bargain than the price for a wife-ironed shirt.

  26. american woman Says:

HoustonDem, and their aren’t social pressures for me. We have body building, men’s cosmetics, hair coloring, and pills that make things work, when they are tired. That’s just our society putting pressure on both sexes It’s a lot different in Islam. The farm my great great grandad cleared, would go to my new husband, whether he beat me or not. I would have few rights.

  27. american woman Says:

    men*

  28. Big45Iron Says:

Whatever happened to that old fashioned stuff like, “Get in that kitchen and rattle them pans”?

  29. american woman Says:

Big……. my dad used to laugh and say that to my step mom……. only he said ” rattle them pots and pans”……however… they were a team. She taught school. He farmed. In summer, she was on her own tractor, out in the field. In winter, he made dinner, cleaned, etc.

  30. Shannon Says:

    Sing it, Kinky Friedman!!!

Put another log on the fire,
Cook me up some bacon and some beans,
Go out to the car and change the tire,
Wash my socks and sew my old blue jeans.
Baby, fill my pipe and then go fetch my slippers,
Boil me up another pot of tea.
Put another log on the fire, girl,
Come and tell me why you’re leaving me.

Don’t I let you wash the car on sunday ?
    Don’t I warn you when you’re getting fat ?
    Hey, fatso!
Ain’t I gonna take you fishing some day ?
Well, a man can’t love a woman more than that.

Ain’t I always nice to your kid sister,
Don’t I take her driving every night ?
So sit here at my feet because I like you when you’re sweet
And you know that it ain’t feminine to fight.

Yeah, come and tell me why you’re leaving me.

  31. Shannon Says:

You speak of a concept that latte’ sipping libs cannot comprehend.

  32. Big45Iron Says:

Libnuts just can’t seem to grasp/understand that they would be largely eradicated by fundamentalist Muslims.

  33. tedtam Says:

“This policy, he said, logically followed from the conclusion that men have an “inborn desire for sexual violence.”

And our ability and social norms that encourage us to overcome our base urges is what separates us from the dogs in the street. Islam is pitiful in its respect for men, assuming that they are nothing but blobs of pure id walking on two legs, and that they are incapable of controlling themselves.

And by the way, women have an inborn desire to beat the crap out of men who act like impulsive four-year-olds with penises. Peni? What IS the plural here? Barring our ability to beat the crap out of these “men,” we DO have access to knives in our kitchens. Which is where these infantile yet hairy beings force their wives.

  34. Shannon Says:

    Peni is so much more….elegant.

    :>)

  35. tedtam Says:

BTW - I think that these types of attitudes reflect directly on the source of their religion. From what I’ve read, Mohammed was, well, how do I put this — his drive to leave his genetic code was pretty darn strong. Today, I think he would’ve landed in jail.

And I think I can do WITHOUT the “honor” bestowed upon Muslim victims women.

  36. tedtam Says:

AND - while I’m on a rant - Houstondem is an idiot. If you’re going to argue a point, at least make it intelligent. Don’t insult me, please. While our society ain’t perfect, it certainly doesn’t physically force such conditions upon the females. If it did, obesity wouldn’t be such an issue on the news, and you wouldn’t see any uglies walking the sidewalks. Of course, you wouldn’t see any pretties, either, but that would be your loss. Unless you were unable to control your penis, in which case your inborn desires would force you to life hijabs and take what you wanted. Like Mohammed. Who must have been darn charismatic…I’ll leave it there before I get yet one more fatwa upon my head.

/falling off my soapbox in anger and disgust

  37. american woman Says:

Tedtam… I think there is a ribald, and extremely funny poem residing within you somewhere. Let it out woman!

  38. tedtam Says:

Now that I’ve vented some steam…let me call my muse into the room and collaborate…

  39. Big45Iron Says:

John Kerry voted for penises before he voted to peni.

Notice when faced with logic and facts that are simply irrefutable to somebody with the ability to use their brains, that liberals abandon the debate?

Not one response from HoustonDem since #11, which was a non response. Another liberal completely lacking in the ability to raise a counter argument based on logic and common sense.

  40. tedtam Says:

Okay, here’s my effort…AW, I hope you like it.

There once was man named Ali,
Who was also Muslim, you see,
    He walked down the street,
    Looking for women to meet,
On a road by the Arabian sea.

A woman, fully covered, passed by
    And caught Ali’s roving eye.
    Though not displayed,
    Ali’s desire was swayed,
To bed he thought he would try.

    “Madam,” he said sotto voice,
“I am hereby giving you choice –
    Sleep with me now,
    I give you my vow,
You will have cause to rejoice!

“But fight me and you will soon find,
That I am of but only one mind –
That is I will have you,
    Even should I make do
By getting at you from your beautiful behind!”

    The woman halted her stride,
The bold man she up and down eyed,
    “You are mistaken
    My security unshaken!
For I think it is that you lied!”

“From what I can see where I stand,
You are not that much of a man,
    Your “threat” is much smaller,
    Not much of a “mauler”
Than your statement that sounds as if canned.”

“In your pants, please keep your phallus,
I don’t think it’s capable of much malice,
    Don’t be so bold,
    It might catch a cold!”
She said, with a voice cool and callous.

Ali, knowing that she spoke true,
Didn’t know just what he should do.
    Dare he advance?
    Or keep on his pants?
Smiling, she said, “Get a clue!”

She turned, and away gracefully strode,
Leaving Ali thinking out in the cold,
    “How could I be led
    By someone like Mohammed,
Who encouraged desire but left not the mode!”

  41. tedtam Says:

I just realized my typo: “life” should be “lift”.

There, now it makes more sense.

    My apologies.

  42. american woman Says:

Tedtam, you need apologize for nothing. Your gift is remarkable…….. and so enjoyable. Thanks darlin.

  43. american woman Says:

    Oh, thanks muse too

  44. tedtam Says:

She left the room, but I’ll give her the message! ;)

  45. tedtam Says:

AW - BTW - glad you enjoyed “egrets”. I wish someone had been with me to enjoy them!
    /back to topic

We need a Muslim peni patrol! What would it be called?

  46. Big45Iron Says:

There once was a man named Ali
Who fled from his land by the sea
    Rejected by women at home
To the west he did roam
Where he’d lie through his teeth
    That he was a sheik
    With deceit he would lie
That he had oil and he’d buy
The body of a gullible wife

So Ali landed in a place called Houston
Where he heard there were women aplenty
He thought they’d succumb to deceit
And make his life so complete
But the fool didn’t know about Texas
Thought he’d molest one in back of his Lexus
Now a grave made his ending complete
Because the lady was packing her heat!

    Don’t mess with Texas!

  47. american woman Says:

Big 45 great too…… both of you are so gifted.

    Peni patrol name? Hmmm thinkin

  48. Fasternu 426 Says:

    Houstondhimmi

What do you have to say about honor killing? Female Genital Mutilation?

    From the Ko-ran and Hadith

Sura (24:31) - Women are to lower their gaze around men, so they do not look them in the eye.

Bukhari (2:28) - Women comprise the majority of Hell’s occupants. This is important because the only women in heaven ever mentioned by Muhammad are the virgins who serve the sexual desires of men.

Muslim (4:2127) - Muhammad struck his favorite wife, Aisha, in the chest one evening when she left the house without his permission. Aisha narrates, “He struck me on the chest which caused me pain.”

(Aisha was the one he married when she was 9)

Bukhari (6:298) - The Prophet and I used to take a bath from a single pot while we were Junub. During the menses, he used to order me to put on an Izar (dress worn below the waist) and used to fondle me. While in Itikaf, he used to bring his head near me and I would wash it while I used to be in my periods (menses).

There’s more….. but I need to make dinner. Bacon sammiches (how ironic)

  49. KentBook Says:

  50. Fasternu 426 Says:

BTW he was 52 when he married her….

  51. KentBook Says:

Again, Shannon–men don’t like thinkin’ about more tahtn one penis–so either pronouciation wouldn’t matter–in fact we have a hard (no pun thatnk you) enough time thinking with one.

  54. KentBook Says:

  58. american woman Says:

Picture an Islamic village. Women in full garb, going to market. Periodically a man screams and falls over in great pain….. and the women just keeps on going……. Yep tasers. Perhaps the taser needs a retractable blade for dismemberment. Oh oh, I am getting into this too much lol

  59. Big45Iron Says:

I can just see AW’s next movie….Islamic Burkha Taser Chain Saw Massacre.

  60. LizBV Says:

Wrote something like this earlier but was informed I was submitting too fast. WTH?

There is no comparison between the two. American women have a CHOICE to conform to or rebel against unrealistic social expectations while for many Islamic women, to rebel is to put one’s life in jeopardy.

In recent decades American women have established themselves as a powerful force politically, economically, socially, etc., precisely because we have that CHOICE. And no man or government is going to stop us.

  61. KentBook Says:

Liz & AQ: all you have to do is see the execution of the woman at the soccer field in Kabul by the Taliban–see was condemnes dor being alone with a man not her husband. These people are barbarians, their relegion is perverted and they’re cowards that will kill innicent children and women of their own faith to meet their god. There can be no respect for any of them, all Muslims, until they stand up and take their religion , if they want it, back. We would not, in this day and time, allow Chrisitanity to be subverted, and in dact, we’re starting to fight against the secularists in excerting our rights to worship as we please and where we please. This country was founded on Judeo-Christian values and mores–we don’t make the religion law–but we can live it–they on the other hand, make the religion law and kill in it’s name. Abominable.

  62. Big45Iron Says:

Liz, I agree, except for the part about killing babies before they are born. That’s not a choice. THat’s murder. Now what’s for dinner?

  63. KentBook Says:

Oooh, easy big fellow–but, good point.

  64. LizBV Says:

#62 Big45Iron - I’m not pro-killing-babies either. Dinner was blah - a cottage cheese/fruit salad, chicken, potatos and lima beans.
A Hawaii luaus w/ a roast pig on a warm beach with turquoise water sounds good about now…

  65. texpat Says:

I know one damned thing for sure. If all the men on earth dropped dead tomorrow, not hell nor high water the next day would stop every woman in this extended family from getting their hair done, their manicures, their pedicures, their facials and whatever else they it is they do out there in the vanity department.

  66. LizBV Says:

Texpat - my momma was screwed up in many areas but she told me something before she died I’ll never forget…

She said, “Even if you have nothing to do and no where to go - get up every day, take a shower and brush your teeth, get dressed decently, put on your make up, do you hair and smell nice. Then you will find things to do and places to go.”

  67. texpat Says:

    Liz

In human life there are many virtues and many vices. The separation of the two can be difficult to determine at times. There is a difference between pride in one’s self and vanity. It is in the shadow of a feather, but one knows it when one sees it.
