What a great day…Rudy Giuliani and Kyle Janek throw in the towel. Good riddance to them both.

  2. T-Hawkk on January 30th, 2008 at 12:08 pm

Guiliani was the only chance we had to beat the democrats. Y R U happy he’s gone?

  3. Phil_M on January 30th, 2008 at 12:17 pm

The immediate answer: I don’t like fascist hotheads who protect pedophiles and surround themselves with organized crime.

The big picture answer: It’s never a good idea to sell your soul for a temporary victory.

  4. Robert 1 on January 30th, 2008 at 12:27 pm

Reply to No. 2: Rudy was not the only chance to beat the Dimwits. If the Dimwits nominate either HELLary or Obama, I like the Republicans chances. HELLary has way too much baggage and all of it is bad including Bill and Obama has no baggage (aka experience). And I don’t think America is quite ready to elect the first woman or first black given these two options.

  5. duhmoose on January 30th, 2008 at 12:37 pm

#4 Especially if you keep calling her HELLary, that will convince a lot of voters that she is bad.

  6. Rastus on January 30th, 2008 at 12:50 pm

You seem surprised - McCain is in and that’s that. Him against Hill, it’s about the same as her against Obama - no policy differences to speak of, and they have the same friends. American down the tubes - so what - Let Captain Hillary (D) do that.

  7. PubliusTX on January 30th, 2008 at 12:53 pm

Umm, linking a Time article amounts to an LST forecast?

    That’s good!

  8. Broc on January 30th, 2008 at 12:55 pm

#4 why do you think America is not ready for a woman or black president?

My goodness we are witnessing a run away primary where some of the largest states are getting no say because candidates are dropping out before we even get a chance to voice our opinion.

We have McCain winning in FL. in the republican primary. MCCAIN the guy that should have D by his name. The other option is Romney who is really no better from what I have read.

This whole primary is like some kind of bad dream. Americans don’t care who is in the White house anymore. As long as they GET something from them thats all that matters.

Thats the reason we are seeing nothing but libs running under both parties and winning.

  9. gadboy on January 30th, 2008 at 1:32 pm

I am actually proud of republicans. The two best candidates have risen to the top.

  10. gadboy on January 30th, 2008 at 1:33 pm

Hellary- is that an example of conservative wit?

  11. Ken Kelley on January 30th, 2008 at 1:39 pm

#2 T-Hawkk: If Giuliani was the only answer, then what the heck was the question??!!! Let’s get real; Rudy Giuliani is just Hillary Clinton with different plumbing.

And while we’re here, let’s discuss McCain. McCain is, at best, squishy on several issues important to Conservatives (border security and immigration, to name just two). The first clue that there is a problem is that the Media love him; that’s almost a guarantee that he’s too Liberal for my tastes. (Think McCain-KENNEDY and McCain-FEINGOLD……)

    – Ken

  12. T-Hawkk on January 30th, 2008 at 1:49 pm

McCain was giving serious thought to running as John Effing Kerry’s running mate in 2004! Don’t you people remember that??

Guiliani was the only chance we had because now the Hildebeast will get all of NY’s electoral votes. No Republican can win New York except Rudy.

It’s ALL OVER! WE BLEW IT!

Get ready for that Clinton woman to reem all of us!

gadboy - “Hildebeast” is an example of conservative wit.

  13. RickG on January 30th, 2008 at 2:08 pm

    12.

I know polls about the general election are way premature right now, but it is intersting what they show about the public’s perceptions. McCain currently beats both Hillary and Obama; Romney and Huckabee each lose badly to both Dems.

  14. hamous on January 30th, 2008 at 2:17 pm

Rudy Giuliani is just Hillary Clinton with different plumbing.

But he looks better in a dress.

  15. RickG on January 30th, 2008 at 2:23 pm

    14.

I dunno, hamous, close call. I think Hillary has better legs.

  16. BarryM on January 30th, 2008 at 2:27 pm

I despise McCain. I don’t like Giuliani either.
Since the 1984 election, I’ve been voting in favor of the Republican candidates all this time. I voted for Reagan. I voted for GHW Bush twice. I voted against Clinton and helf my nose for Dole. I voted for GW Bush twice even though he has extremely disappointed me.
Now it seems, in this primary, I’ll be voting against McCain. I’m really not to thrilled with Romney. None of the Republican candidates are worth the price of a squirrel fart. It’s unfortunate that Newt Gingrich chose not to run because I believe he would have been preferable to all of them. I’m not going to be surprised if the demoncrats win in November. In my opinion, there’s really not any Republican to vote for.
One thing is for sure. I will not vote for McCain or a demoncrat.

  17. Rastus on January 30th, 2008 at 2:49 pm

I just can’t seem to get over the narrow minded thinkers whose comments appear here. We’ve got a maverick liberal who sometimes leans conservative against a full blown pinko. What better time to enjoy Rice baseball than the remainder of the political season. By voting time, we’ll all have free booze (or dope of choice), free food, free medicine, free housing, free sex, and free cable TV. What else is there to want for, right up until they come chop our heads off?

  18. Taking a nap on January 30th, 2008 at 3:40 pm

It saddens me to no end but if a choice between mc-cain or obama - I’ll take obama - better a snake who is a known snake than a snake in sheeps clothing

  19. T-Hawkk on January 30th, 2008 at 3:53 pm

I don’t believe those national polls showing McCain ahead of the demonrat candidate for a second. They are fake polls put out by the leftist MSM to get us to nominate McCain who they know will then be slaughtered by the Beast or the muslim.

It’s all a giant conspiracy by the leftist media.

Just look at that beady-eyed guy on Nightline, which I never watch, Terry Moran. He’s capable of such a plot…

  20. american woman on January 30th, 2008 at 4:39 pm

Hey you Vietnam vets, I have a question. Sarge isn’t around to answer……. I just want your opinion. When McCain and Kerry decided there were no more vietnam vets stuck in prison camps in N.Vietnam or elsewhere, were they right? Or, Did they leave as many as 700-800 to die?

  21. gadboy on January 30th, 2008 at 4:50 pm

#20 are you trying to disparage McCain’s service to his country? Believe me, if there were POW’s left over in vietnam, you need to spread the blame a lot farther than those 2.

  22. american woman on January 30th, 2008 at 5:02 pm

Nope Gadboy, I want to know what the vets think. McCain and Kerry were in charge of determining the truth, and I want to know if these guys agree. Some vets think many were left there. I have no clue. Aren’t I allowed to ask?

  23. american woman on January 30th, 2008 at 5:04 pm

Gadboy maybe I didn’t make myself clear. Kerry and McCain were in charge of determining the pow situation. They were assigned the task, went to Vietnam, looked over tons of records and said, nope all gone. None there.

  24. texpat on January 30th, 2008 at 5:06 pm

    #12 T-Hawkk

McCain has been polling way ahead of Giuliani in New York state for weeks now.

  25. hamous on January 30th, 2008 at 5:07 pm

#20 I wouldn’t trust Kerry’s word which is why McCain was involved. I have no doubt that McCain would not have said that unless he was 100% sure it was true. No doubt whatsoever. What do you think Big45?

  26. american woman on January 30th, 2008 at 5:16 pm

Hammie, that’s what I think too. But, there is as group of vets who say differently. They could have an agenda, so, I thought the guys who were on the ground, who still keep in touch with each other, could answer.

  27. Big45Iron on January 30th, 2008 at 6:33 pm

I know of no remaining POWs left alive in Vietnam. I do know two things though:

    A. All captured Electronics Warfare Officers were shipped to the Soviet Union and never heard from again.

    B. North Vietnam had 400 American remains in cold storage in a warehouse that they were asking approximately $8 billion dollars in gold for their return. I had this confirmed by a congressman and the casualty officer at Headquarters Marine Corps during the summer of 1988.

  28. Big45Iron on January 30th, 2008 at 6:41 pm

We have tried for a long time to get information out of Russia on the disposition of our POWs sent to Russia.

Here is a credible source: http://www.aiipowmia.com/ssc/ssc31.html

  29. Big45Iron on January 30th, 2008 at 6:44 pm

Alot of these so called vet organizations are scammers trying to get your money through donations to support them. If you want the truth, simply go to the National League of Families. They should be your sole source for the status of POWs in Vietnam:http://www.pow-miafamilies.org/

  30. Big45Iron on January 30th, 2008 at 6:46 pm

I will likely return to Cambodia sometime in 2010 to search for the remains of three men: Joseph Hargrove, Gary Hall, and Danny Marshall. Joe was lost on his birthday, and had already lost another brother in Vietnam. We just want to bring them home.

  31. american woman on January 30th, 2008 at 6:54 pm

Big thanks for the good, solid, info. I had no idea about the men sent to Russia. Thanks for the link. Good luck in your search……2010 is a ways away, but I hope you will keep us informed.

  32. LizBV on January 30th, 2008 at 6:58 pm

#20 AW - Simple was there and he would be a good guy to ask, but I haven’t seen him around lately.

  33. american woman on January 30th, 2008 at 7:05 pm

Big that is an amazing site to read. I would recommend everyone check out the site Big45 posted.

  34. Big45Iron on January 30th, 2008 at 7:18 pm

Because of my involvement in Operation Homecoming and my work in intelligence, I am very careful about posting anything on POWs that is not from an extremely credible source. During the 80s and 90s there was a constant stream of raggedy, hippie looking guys in military clothing coming through gun shows showed documents they said were official government documents on POWs that they had “gotten ahold of”. A quick review always showed that they were total fabrications. The military marks classified documents in accordance with Executive Order 11652 and as further modified. Each document, page, and paragraph are marked according to its classification. Each document is number as X copy of XX copies. Each contains specific downgrading instructions and the authority for that downgrading, or the authority exempting it from downgrading.

These faux warriors were always trying to get donations to help their cause of “recovering the POWs”. I immediately exposed them loudly so that everybody could recognize what they were. Word travels fast in those gun shows. They’d always leave pretty quick. But they’d float from show to show, city to city.

Whoever becomes our next puppet “president” will get to decide how to arrange the deck chairs on the “Titanic” as it sinks in a sea of debt and the decades of fiscal mismanagement by both corrupt parties. We are, sadly, beyond the point of no return. This fact won’t, however, prevent the next regime from engaging in the same quackonomics as Hoover and FDR and making things even worse than if they did nothing at all.
