This little monkey is so cute, and so is the guy. I am pleased with the pic.

CNN says the debate may have hurt McCain some, hopefully.

Ayyy…cucomonga…I just read where the stimulus package will give rebates to long-time resident illegals! This is outrageous! Congress is surely in need of some serious psychiatric confinement!

  6. KentBook on January 31st, 2008 at 6:36 am

Luntz group (w/John Clease, I might add) and RWN graded Romney as winner–the snideness of McCain and the “business management” were his biggest probelm–he kills himself with his arrogancy and temper–he will self-implode one of these days–Sally, just be patient.

  13. KentBook on January 31st, 2008 at 6:48 am

AW: trust me–this guy is a a-bomb waiting to happen–I stated he was volatile in the post about Senators don’t get elected. Beside, the stupidest thing he keeps bringing up is his leadership–yes, military leadership is great, but he wasn’t a air group (squadron) leafer–you lead in the air not from a desk–he didn’t ever fly after he returned from VN–he managed the Sqaudron. The more he speaks of this and says I’ll hire whom I need, the more Romney looks like the leader he is–McCain is describing Romney’s strenght as a CEO/Leader– that’s why Romney is “perzactly” the candidate to win–he’s savvy, he leads and manages–he Will hire those to take care of the rest that he is least experienced in–like McCain as SecDef.

  14. KentBook on January 31st, 2008 at 6:51 am

10: billybeer–we had this discussion all day yesterday–where were you–anyway, you won’t have to vote for him–Romney is going to take it–nobody cares who endorces him–and beside, NYT & Giuliani aren’t the best Republican/Conservative endorcements one would like–he glories in them–the mre he espouses on these and the others—the more our side willl come out agasint him. As I asked AW above–wait and see, be calm and wait.

  15. american woman on January 31st, 2008 at 6:52 am

We had a bunch of suits in Washington running the war in Vietnam…… and we know how that turned out. I worry McCain will try to do the same thing. I like the General who is in charge. McCain thinks he is the best at military strategy….IMHO

  16. KentBook on January 31st, 2008 at 6:54 am

Agreed, or put Patreaus in. He’ll probably end up as Chairman of JCS

  17. KentBook on January 31st, 2008 at 7:03 am

AW: Kinda to continue above, suits always run a war00it’s strucctured that way in the Constitution to prevent a coup. Unfortunately, a military guy isn’t always in charge–personally, whomever comes in will keep Gates–he’s smart and has a handle on what’s going on.

  18. GoodJobTim on January 31st, 2008 at 7:05 am

Please, no McCain in the State Department either. Frank Gaffney says the problems with all the undermining going on in the Pentagon and CIA in particular, McCain would be the worst of the candidates (Republican) to get control of it and would probably fuel it.

  19. KentBook on January 31st, 2008 at 7:06 am

Nope, perfect guy for state is John Bolton–he’ll clean out Foggy Bottom–he won’t let the psychosis that infected Powell & Rice happen to him.

Its been a discussion here for years, really got heated in ‘06 mid-terms and many of us have always said we would never, ever vote for McCain. Your not going to change anyones mind, “skip the Box” is gaining momentum. Let that be known to McCain supporters across the country instead of preaching to the held up palms here.

    KentBook Says:

Agreed, or put Patreaus in. He’ll probably end up as Chairman of JCS

If the Dems get in, look for Petreaus to be put into just about any 5 year assignment.

They won’t want him to be free to pursue Presidential employment in 2012—you know, about the time folks find out what a bad frikkin idea leaving Iraq was—

Got a couple of questions for Izzy the Obamaman:

Obama says that he will withdraw all of our troops from Iraq, and send more to Afghanistan.

Both countries are muslim, with Shia and Sunni elements.

Both countries border on multiple present or potential threat nations to both the US and the Middle East.

Both nations now have governments that came about after the US overthrew a dictatorship.

Both nations are experiencing insurgent terrorist activity inspired, encouraged, supplied, and led by al Queda, internal sectarian divides, and/or Iran.

Both countries border on nations that act as conduits for supplies and recruits for the insurgencies there, and as safe havens for the insurgents.

Obama says that the only way that Iraq can learn how to become a Democracy and protect itself from terrorists taking over the country is if the United States leaves, forcing them to do so.

Obama also says that we need troops in Afghanistan to protect the democracy there and to prevent terrorists from taking over that country.

So what do YOU and OBAMA say is the difference between Iraq and Afghanistan?

Why does increasing the number of troops in Afghanistan, but withdrawing them from Iraq make this country, and thiers, safer?

    Bonus question:

If we leave Iraq, which you say will result in all of the terrorists there to leaving as well, where will they go?

I figure that you will say that the terrorists in Iraq will all go to Afghanistan, because the only reason you say they are in Iraq is because we have troops in that country. But given the above, and dependent on the answer you give, I also have to figure that your answer might not as encumbered with thought and logic as mine would be, so I have to ask.

Mornin’ Gang, todays E-Mail Funny, (I hope #8 don’t get me in trouble, I only cut and paste)

    9 WORDS WOMEN USE
    (1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
    (2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
    (3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
    (4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don’t Do It!
    (5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with youabout nothing.(Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)
    (6) That’s Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That’s okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
    (7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you’re welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says “Thanks a lot” - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say “you’re welcome” …. that will bring on a “whatever”).
    (8) Whatever: Is a women’s way of saying F*cK YOU!
    (9) Don’t worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking “What’s wrong?”
For the woman’s response refer to # 3.

GJT–Oh, I know all to well–did it on my own thru e-mail, and you’re right, these folks don’t understand what’s really at stake, but they don’t care as long as they can say they voted their conscience and it’s everybody elses fault that this or that happened. My statement to all is : If you don’t vote, you can’e Complain!

  24. KentBook on January 31st, 2008 at 7:31 am

    22: Dave D–there’s a #10:
“yes, Dear” means “you’re an A++hole”
or if to another woman: “Yes, you B+tch.”

  25. american woman on January 31st, 2008 at 7:37 am

My ” yes dear” is never used for a woman, but for a man means ” that was stupid, you didn’t have to tell me that”. I agree with all the #22 posts DaveD lol

  26. KentBook on January 31st, 2008 at 7:39 am

AW: You eveidently work in some of the office I worked in–my wife worked for a woman that called everyone dear, in a subserviant way–so, they started responding to her in same, but used this meaning.

To all those out there considering not voting if McCain is the nominee for the Republicans, there are far greater consequences with either HELLary or Obama. A RINO beats a Dimwit any day, all be it not by much but any margin over a Dimwit is better than none. Think about all the bad things that happen under a Clinton administration the first time and now imagine a repeat of that with a greater lean to the left. At least Bill realized you have to kinda be in the middle, with HELLary, its her way (ultra left wing liberal with socialistic tendencies) or no way. Can you imagine how much she will play the gender card in getting what she wants. You certainly have to believe some of the bad stuff written about HELLary during Bill’s term in office and there was a lot written. I don’t remember any author being sued for defamation of character.

  39. KentBook on January 31st, 2008 at 8:20 am

Robert 1: Good luck, buddy, you know we hashed this to death yesterday and the STB folks are gonna listen–already established that “we” are the traitors to the cause, because we woould vote McCain if it came to it, vs. taking a chance of another (worse, as we pointed out yesterday) Clinton 4-8 years–they think it would be as bad with McCain–we know it won’t but they are so insanely oppossed (and rightfully so in most cases, except one) to McCain that they will give this nation over to the socialist left to make their point.
Oh, yeah, the one case is if he’s the candidate running against the DEMS.
When the vote goes Dem, then We’re all going to kive either in the HIll Country with Emme, or with AW on the farm in IL.

  40. american woman on January 31st, 2008 at 8:23 am

We survived the Clinton’s for two terms. The sky didn’t fall. We had an impeachment trial. We had a lot of scandal. We had terrorism with nothing being done. Bill did some things that ticked off his party.

  41. GoodJobTim on January 31st, 2008 at 8:24 am

Isn’t it interesting that for all the talk of voting for the most electable candidate rather than for the one they liked earlier in the primary season, our nominee is now going to be one many refuse to vote for.

  42. KentBook on January 31st, 2008 at 8:29 am

39: AW: As I said yesterday–Bill isn’t Hilalry–Hrc is a socialist looking for power–with the Dems in charge (and probably will continue at least two more years) of congress & senate–she wiil be able to get through those wishes she has to turn the US into a EU model Socialist Nation. Thta’s the hazard in letting her win, over what Bill did. That’s what scares me about y’all, oh we lived through Bill, it wasn’t so bad. Hill ain’t Bill, she’s Lenin with Satan backing her.

  43. KentBook on January 31st, 2008 at 8:31 am

GJT: And can’t get behind the one that can be the best candidate–they’re so sure that we’re stuck with McCain, where I think we can get Romney and he can win, once more see McCain for who he is as a RINO and bad Republican.

  44. luv2hammer on January 31st, 2008 at 8:31 am

Anyone that says there is no conspiracy must be the king or queen of denial. Hey! That would make a good title for a country and western song.

What I wonder about Florida if the Independents allowed to vote in the primary. I know that the huge Latino presence would account for a lot of it.

Folks we are being spoon fed a candidate that will continue the One World agenda of the Bush dynasty. Guys if it looks like a duck walks like a duck and often seen in the accompaniment of other ducks you can draw but one conclusion. Anyone that says there is no conspiricy

  45. KentBook on January 31st, 2008 at 8:35 am

43: Outside of the OWC (get over it) there were documented cases in FL on Tuesday of independents showing up and registering as Rep. so they could vote–they aren’t required to vote republican in election like here–so there was a lot of that same old stuiff going on in FL, These Stricter primaries will sort McCain out

I hate the idea of McCain being the one which is why I will continue to pray that Mitt gets in there.

  48. hamous on January 31st, 2008 at 8:42 am

But for many, I think the will to believe in the grand conspiracy has decidedly non-ideological motivations. It just feels good to believe that one is part of the initiated minority that knows the actual story. For this group, history is a Gnostic phenomenon in which the real truth is passed from believer to believer outside the official scripture. Let the common fools believe the pabulum they are fed by the history books, you and I know what really happened.

That’s what makes us so smart. We know that JFK was actually assassinated by a 17-year-old George W. Bush in order ensconce fellow Texan Lyndon Johnson in the White House, thus laying the historical background necessary to facilitate Lady Bird Johnson’s highway beautification scheme years later—a scheme that encourages oil consumption by brainwashed pleasure drivers entranced by the wafting aroma of beautiful mind-controlling uber-poppies. Oh, and Halliburton.

Sometimes you’ve just got to be proud to be Homo sapiens. We’re the smartest apes ever. My sympathy to the chimpanzees.

Reply to No. 46: You are right the “sky did not fall” under the Clinton adminstration but you got to believe that Clinton’s attitude toward the military (not really wanting one or maintaining it) plus his Monica and impeachment distractions made it easier for the terrorist to plan 9/11. If there was ever a morally corrupt administration, it had to be Bill’s and no one can deny that.

We are in round three of a 15 round fight and most of the opponents in the primary are already in the dieing cockroach position. What’s up with that? Is the fight fixed? To the pundits it seems to be a foregone conclusion that Mrs. Clinton and John McCain will be the nominees. For what it is worth, Mr. McCain said that sen. Clinton would make a good president. Clinton and McCain, the ultimate fusion ticket. With the exception of the war there seems to be no difference between the two.

    Bottle of Wine
A woman and a man are involved in a car accident on a snowy, cold Monday morning; it’s a bad one. Both of their cars are totally demolished but amazingly neither of them are hurt.. God works in mysterious ways. After they crawl out of their cars, the man is yelling about women drivers; the woman says, ‘So you’re a man. That’s interesting. I’m a woman. Wow, just look at our cars! There’s nothing left, but we’re unhurt. This must be a sign from God that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace for the rest of our days’. Flattered, the man replies, ‘Oh yes, I agree with you completely, this must be a sign from God! But your still at fault…women shouldn’t be allowed to drive.’ The woman continues, ‘And look at this, here’s another miracle. My car is completely demolished but this bottle of wine didn’t break. Surely God wants us to drink this wine and celebrate our good fortune.’ Then she hands the bottle to the man. The man nods his head in agreement, opens it and drinks half the bottle and then hands it back to the woman. The woman takes the bottle and immediately puts the cork back on, and hands it back to the man. The man asks, ‘Aren’t you having any?’ The woman replies, ‘No. I think I’ll just wait for the police….’

This just in, BigJolly at LST endorses Ron Paul! Heheheh…

Seriously, where did McCain come from? A week or two ago, I would have thought his chances were remote at best - that it was going to be Romney or Huckabee. Now it’s looking like McCain? WITW?

  77. emmekelley on January 31st, 2008 at 10:15 am

At least I got 49 for Romney which gives me a little hope that the poll isn’t totally rigged. ;)

  78. KRAUT on January 31st, 2008 at 10:16 am

Something else to think about: Liberals never abandon their beliefs. If anything, they move further to the left. Why then are conservatives always pressured to abandon their beliefs and become more moderate? Why do so many republicans run under the conservative mantle and then they can’t wait to become liberals? It made me sick to hear McCain use Ronald Reagan for his own purpose at the debate last night. This is outright blasphemy.

Re 62 the poll is skewed. Specifically Taxes and the environment. McLiberal opposed the tax cuts, but now he is noted as supporting them? Also, he buys into the enviro-kook bs more than any other republican. They must be running this thing based on campaign speeches rather than record.

women take time and money, thus

    Women = time x money

    Time is money, thus

Women = money x money = money squared

Not perfect, but the math seems to work.

If HELLary wanted to show we weren’t getting a “Two-fer” then she should divorce Bill right now but Bill, being the friendly guy that he is, could still be campaigning for her. I can’t decide who wants to get back into the White House more, Bill or HELLary. In either case, you saw what we got with Bill, of course we survived, only because Bill benefit from what Reagan did before him. Our economy isn’t as good under GWB’s watch, so HELLary’s philosophy would ruin everything.

A cop gets called to the scene of a fatal accident.

A man and a woman, both dead, are hanging out of the car. The officer scratches his head trying to figure what happened when he sees a monkey holding a road flare waving its arms as if to tell him something.

    Cop: “You know what happened?”

Monkey: Motioning with his arms as if turning up a bottle.

    Cop: “They were drinking?”

    Monkey: Nods head

    Cop: “What else?”

    Monkey: Mimes smoking a joint

    Cop: “They were smoking dope?”

    Monkey: Nods head

    Cop: “What else?”

    Monkey: Mimics sexual act

Cop: “They were doing the nasty?”

    Monkey: Nods emphatically

Cop: “This still doesn’t make much sense, What were you doing as all this happened?”

Monkey: makes motion as if he were driving and looking behind him…

A guy wakes up one day, goes out to get the newspaper (WSJ, not the Chron) and is startled to see a gorilla in his tree. So he calls the zoo, and the zoo tells him to call Bob’s Gorilla Service.

He calls Bob, and Bob says he’ll be right over. A few minutes later, a truck pulls up. Bob gets out and asks the guy “What seems to be the problem?”

Guy says, “There’s a big gorilla in my tree!”

Bob says, “Okay, no problem.” He goes back to his truck and gets his equipment. Bob spreads a big net under the tree, then retrieves a ladder, a 10-foot pole, a pit bull and a shotgun.

At this point, the guy is curious, so he asks Bob what the plan is.

Bob says “Well, I’m going to climb the ladder and jab the gorilla with this pole until he falls out of the tree, at which point Cujo here will bite him in the balls, temporarily paralyzing the gorilla. Then I’ll tie up the net with the gorilla in it, throw it into the truck, and we’ll be off.”

Guy says, “So what’s the shotgun for?”

Bob says, “If I fall off the ladder, SHOOT THAT DOG.”

And maybe America, and Europe, and Japan, and Canada — the rich counties — would say, ‘OK, we just have to slow down our economy and cut back our greenhouse gas emissions ’cause we have to save the planet for our grandchildren.’ We could do that. But if we did that, you know as well as I do, China and India and Indonesia and Vietnam and Mexico and Brazil and the Ukraine, and all the other countries will never agree to stay poor to save the planet for our grandchildren.

Why does Clinton continue with the class warfare of we are rich and they are poor attitude just to try to make a point about his religion of global warming? Yes I agree that the press took it out of context but it is still class warfare to me which is wrong.

    #119, 121, Emme,

But you are missing the point of this class warfare. We the “rich” countries of the world are supposed to feel guilty that we are “rich” and that we are supposed to allow Slick and his buddies to tell us where we need to send all of our wealth.

See it is Slick and his buddies who are trying to take our money, but the one thing you never hear from these people is if they are going to participate…

This BLAST contains the final itinerary for a WELCOME HOME MISSION to be held on Sunday Feb. 3rd 2008:

Captain Brian Fletcher – U.S. Army
Major Carrolton Smith – U.S. Army

    FINAL ITINERARY:
Captain Brian Fletcher – U.S. Army, Kingwood, TX – Major Carrolton Smith – U.S. Army.
Captain Fletcher is return home following a 16 month tour of duty in Afghanistan. Additionally we would like to surprise his best friend Major Carrolton Smith who served with Captain Fletcher in Afghanistan and who will also be in attendance. (Second tour in Afghanistan for both) The family of Captain Fletcher has advised us that Captain Fletcher is a very low key type individual who is uncomfortable being in the limelight, or having any attention paid to him. As a result, we will honor the Captain’s wishes, and make the welcome home as honorable, but as brief as possible.
