Excellent post Ree-c and I think it’s an excellent plan. Have you thought of starting an online petition of said idea…… or writing up the plan to send to us pesky anti- illegal people, so we can send to the powers that be?

  2. texpat on February 3rd, 2008 at 8:47 am

Very clever, Ree-C. The single, largest incentive for the Mexican government to continue the status quo is the inflow of foreign currency, US dollars to be exact. This exceeded 26 billion in 2007 and has now dwarfed tourism as a major source of dollars.

  3. marksolot on February 3rd, 2008 at 8:52 am

The amount of money paid to the Mexican Government would have to exceed the amount sent home by illegals. I think this is about 40-80 billion.

On the flip side if you remember Kink’y idea of hiring the Mexican Generals and paying them each 100 million. By deducting say $10,000 for each illegal caught in the General’s territory you would have ZERO illegal traffic. Both drugs and people. It would also be a whole lot cheaper to the US government taking into account foreign aide and freebie social services.

Oh but that is politically incorrect. Sorry.

  4. texpat on February 3rd, 2008 at 9:00 am

According to the US Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, in 2006 Mexicans in the USA sent home 23.1 billion dollars. The annual rate of increase since 2000 has been 20.4%. The figure I arrive at for 2007, using those numbers, is $ 27,692,000,000. That does not reflect cash physically taken over the border or, of course, illegal drug money, etc.

Didn’t we already try someting like that down near Laredo or Brownsville in conjunction with a Mexican General about incursions and crossings–for every one he stopped he got paid out of a coffer?
anybody rememeber that? How well did it work?

  6. Bannable Lecturer on February 3rd, 2008 at 9:41 am

Hey, maybe we can take this intolerant, insenstitive drivel to the next level…

For every anchor baby or illegal that dies for the country in combat lets add some back in - how about a million or so - naw 100 million going back to the 60,000 or so that fell in WWII thats some doin

Ditto for all the police, fire, rescue etc

After all - lets be fair…..

  7. KentBook on February 3rd, 2008 at 9:43 am

BL–don’t think those that served in WWII or in the Armed Forces were Illegal.

What anchor babies have died in Combat??

  8. BSue on February 3rd, 2008 at 9:57 am

Ree-C, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who heard that Friday morning. I was beginning to think I was the only one who almost swerved off the road, in spite of Edd’s warning, when he said that Congressman Ciro Rodriguez told the border sherrifs that if they needed money for law-enforcement along the border, maybe they should apply to Mexico for funding from this grant. It makes my blood pressure skyrocket just thinking about it!

  9. KentBook on February 3rd, 2008 at 9:59 am

There’s no appeasement like Mexican appeasement–oh wait, there is there’s Euro-appeasement, Saudi-appeasement, etc.

  10. texpat on February 3rd, 2008 at 10:18 am

100+ Died In Iraq & Afghanistan

The last time I posted about it (September 07 ?), there were over 100 members of the U.S. armed forces killed in combat who received their citizenship posthumously. Each one had enlisted as an illegal alien resident of the US.

  11. KentBook on February 3rd, 2008 at 10:23 am

Sorry, didn’t know that–interesting–how, would be the question? And the anchor babies dying in combat?

  12. DanielJames on February 3rd, 2008 at 10:27 am

I am confused here (nthing new) but you want to put our money in escrow and pay ourselves back?

I have a better idea. How about completely shutting down the border and start making demands. Demand the mexican government start taking care of thier own citizens. Force them to make the necessary changes to make mexico a viable country.

None of this will happen of course since this gov wants mexico poor. Poor people have no power. People with no power have no voice.

  13. FourAlarm on February 3rd, 2008 at 10:34 am

My solution is simpler. No aid (disaster, foreign, health, educational… whatever) at all. Never Ever Ever. United States sits back, holding itself in reserve, and waits for other nations to ante up. Then we DOUBLE that amount.

New PR campaign slogan… “America. We’re twice as nice.” To paraphrase McDonalds… “Billions Saved.”

  14. KentBook on February 3rd, 2008 at 10:42 am

DJ: agree with 1st 2 oaragraphs, wholeheartedly! not so much the latter–seems a little on that conspiratal end of things.

Speaking of conspiracies–did you see my plan yesterday? Whaduthink?

  15. KentBook on February 3rd, 2008 at 10:42 am

FourAlarm–same thing we should do with Berkeley!

  16. DanielJames on February 3rd, 2008 at 10:51 am

    kent

I saw you plan and responded. Its workable.

In the next 12 months I think you will se more of what I spew as real and not so much conspiratorail.

  17. KentBook on February 3rd, 2008 at 10:55 am

That’s right–you’re the only one thta thot it might be a good idea–sorry that forgot–geez, man, who’d thot we’d ever think similarily–spooky, huh?

  18. hamous on February 3rd, 2008 at 10:57 am

#16 - and when “the master plan” doesn’t come to fruition in the next 12 months will you be willing to say there is no master plan, just a bunch of greedy politicians looking out for their own best interest?

  19. KentBook on February 3rd, 2008 at 11:06 am

18: goes without saying, so how do we change that?

  20. DanielJames on February 3rd, 2008 at 11:07 am

The master plan has already come to fruition.

    hamous

Before they were all inpet. Now they are just greedy. Whatever the case its all coming together quite nice. Drink some champagne, laugh it up. Everything will be fine.

    Adios BRO!

  21. hamous on February 3rd, 2008 at 11:18 am

    #20 I see no evidence of that. Oh, that’s right. I’m just a blind sheeple drinking the kool-aid ; - )

  22. KentBook on February 3rd, 2008 at 11:30 am

    21: Aren’t we all in DJ’s vision?

  23. Robert 1 on February 3rd, 2008 at 12:24 pm

    Here’s some possible other solutions:

    1) How about we tax those funds wired back to Mexico or any country south, an amount equal to the federal income tax rate and social security. Since the government takes about 25% then that will be the rate. Those funds go into the respective departments.

    2) How about we bill all those countries where services are provided to their illegal citizens working in this country? We just have to ask one question, what is your country of origin? Let those countries send auditors to audit their bills.

    3) How about we seize all properties of illegal aliens like we seize all properties of drug dealers, since all were ill gotten gains acquired thru illegal/breaking the law means??

    Here try one of these.

  24. KentBook on February 3rd, 2008 at 12:33 pm

23.2: Robert–that Sheriff in Maricopa County, AZ does that–sends bills every month the teh Mexican Gov’t for roomo and board for the inmates that are illegal–don’t think he’s been paid yet, tho.

  25. Robert 1 on February 3rd, 2008 at 1:00 pm

Reply to No. 24: That’s okay for now. If we ever think about giving foreign aid, the state can get the money from the government before the foreign aid is sent.

I wonder what the federal government would do if that state started deducting that amount from the tax dollars sent from the state for taxes collected for the federal government.

  26. KentBook on February 3rd, 2008 at 1:03 pm

That’s an interesting idea–which Governor would do that? Doubt Ricky would. Nor KBH, the next Gov.

  27. Robert 1 on February 3rd, 2008 at 3:01 pm

Reply to No. 26: Don’t you know that would make for good liberal media press!!! Don’t you know if we had a Dimwit president and Congress, it is more likely to happen, after all what are a few tax dollars among those “tax and spend” Dimwits.

  28. KentBook on February 3rd, 2008 at 3:51 pm

    Oh, silly, me–I’m so naive.

  29. slash on February 3rd, 2008 at 4:08 pm

I think we are spending PLENTY here on Mexico.

A buddy recently got the idea he wanted to hunt next season “communist free”. In other words, he’s tired of the shoddy products from China, and decided he’s spend the Spring buying as much American made products to hunt with as possible. I think he may be onto something . . .

Now, with Texas becoming a “sanctuary State” after recent laws actually being enforced in OK and AZ, maybe the everyday guy is gonna have to start voting with his dollars, too. Refuse to do any sort of business with a company hiring illegals of any sort. And hope you don’t need a roof! Start videoing construction sites, home sites, and areas where the day-laborers hang out.

The problem isn’t sealing the border, it’s the fact that a porous border is making powerful people a lot of money. Banks, home builders, contractors, and churches seem to be howling the loudest over OK’s new stance. Hmmmmmm . . ..

And Tricky Ricky is gonna do what the Insurance Lobby tells him to. They have kept the receipt.

  30. Adee on February 3rd, 2008 at 7:26 pm

How about Texas keeps the Fed’s gasoline taxes rather than sending them in? Instead use the revenue to secure the border and give the sheriffs the help and equipment they need. Self-defense for the citizens of Texas. Of course to do that we will need an executive and legislature with a backbone….

  31. phil on February 3rd, 2008 at 8:14 pm

Foreign aid to Mexico? President Duncenandez has already given our country to Mexico.

How about Mexico paying us billions in aid.

  32. FourAlarm on February 3rd, 2008 at 9:48 pm

Can’t understand why so few this train wreck coming and no one wants the responsibility of throwing the switch.

Just give me 10 years of unmolested clean living then when I finally do fall out of the saddle, all this mess and madness will be someone else’s problem.

I’ve been thinking about this issue a long time. I supported NAFTA,(I DID NOT support CAFTA or any furthering of NAFTA into the rest of the world) hoping that Mexico would produce a middle class with a living wage. Instead they have continued to exploit their workers for a few rich, corrupt families who live on the backs of slave labor. We didn’t demand that our companies (who fled south of the border to produce cheap goods) pay a wage to their workers that would allow them to feed their families. So, NAFTA needs to be revised to require that our companies pay at least half of our minimum wage. Maybe some of them would even keep the manufacturing base here. And, if they don’t then a tariff should be imposed equal to the wages they did not pay. Until we find a way to stop the incentive to come here, and stop the desperation, we are fighting a losing battle. Of course, we should seal the border, of course we should impose sanctions on employers. And anyone who spent even one day here illegally should never be eligable for citizenship. But we should also eliminate foreign aid to Mexico, and demand that our corporations pay a decent wage. They are getting a free ride down there. I would support boycotting Mexico products until something is done. In reality, the border should be like that of Canada. But it won’t be because the people are desperate. I would also support a constitutional amendment that rids us of the anchor baby scenario and duel citizenship. In the meantime, anchor babies should live with their parents in their home country - they can come back here when they are of legal age
