First one–Traditional–the “bluebonnet” one is winning–just like McCain!

  2. jimb on February 4th, 2008 at 3:08 pm

“Lone Star Texas” is currently ahead by about 3200 votes. That’s the one I voted for. Vote early, vote often. I wonder if votes are countec by IP or what?

  3. KentBook on February 4th, 2008 at 3:14 pm

Nope–it’ll let you vote more than once–which one the 1st one?

  4. american woman on February 4th, 2008 at 3:14 pm

I voted for the traditional one. I think the bluebonnet one is too dull, not bright enough.

  5. malcolm on February 4th, 2008 at 3:15 pm

It’s sure going to me mighty confusing when everyone has the same number on their license plate! Don’t they have any other choices?

  6. KentBook on February 4th, 2008 at 3:15 pm

That’s too cutsy, jimb–are you a girly man?

  7. duhmoose on February 4th, 2008 at 3:15 pm

if they do it by ip address and you get two votes per, that means I only have about 2000 votes I can use, dang. They should have called one of them Ron Paul.

  8. malcolm on February 4th, 2008 at 3:15 pm

That’s going to “be” (must learn to read before submitting.)

  9. Shannon on February 4th, 2008 at 3:18 pm

I’m skipping the box until they have one that has a picture of a large grinning RINO.

  10. american woman on February 4th, 2008 at 3:41 pm

Shannon how about Kinky smoking a big ole cigar, blowing smoke up the rino’s you know what? hehe

That’s too cutsy, jimb–are you a girly man?

I didn’t vote for the bluebonnet one! You really think the 3rd one from the top of this post is cutesy?

    /where’s my mascara?

  20. Shannon on February 4th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
  21. jimb on February 4th, 2008 at 4:42 pm

I want the 3rd one down - and yea I am a girly girl

  23. Katfish on February 4th, 2008 at 5:52 pm

#20 - Jeeesus Henry Milton Keerist bubba - that would make a freight train take a dirt road!

  24. NAT PIERCE on February 4th, 2008 at 6:22 pm

Shows you how far down Texas has gone, its best plate was plain with a lone star in the center, really, any more than that exhibits a lack of self worth.

  25. NAT PIERCE on February 4th, 2008 at 6:24 pm

The day it is necessary to tell someone we are the Lone Star State is the day you know we are lost.

  26. NAT PIERCE on February 4th, 2008 at 6:28 pm

You want pictures put a cotton field, an oil derrick, refinery’s along the ship channel, the Battleship Texas, and a bank.

  27. american woman on February 4th, 2008 at 6:36 pm

Squawk, can’t you photoshop a license plate that would better describe us LST folks? RP would have to be somewhere on it. Maybe a donkey and an elephant too.

  28. NAT PIERCE on February 4th, 2008 at 6:54 pm

Put the Gulf building with that big rotating orange sign on top.

  29. LizBV on February 4th, 2008 at 7:08 pm

#28 Hey! My dad worked there! Voting for the 4th one down from the top - the sky line. Don’t want the one with the horse, after GWB too many people around the country already think we are hic cowboys who ride horses every where.

  30. NAT PIERCE on February 4th, 2008 at 7:22 pm

Liz, doncha think if they think if they believe we are a bunch of tobacco spittin, lynchmob, cowboys n roughnecks the will keep on flying over to New Mexico or Arizona?

  31. NWstorm_rider on February 4th, 2008 at 8:03 pm

where is the one with the illegals crossing the border?

  32. FourAlarm on February 4th, 2008 at 9:05 pm

Yeah, how about one showing a bunch of wet footprints leading away from the rivers edge?

  33. Meglet on February 4th, 2008 at 9:49 pm

Heyyyy…doesn’t the bottom one look suspiciously familiar??

  34. Adee on February 4th, 2008 at 11:19 pm

I chose the bluebonnets for the simplicity of background that gives good contrast for the necessary lettering, which is minimal. The whole is not cluttered as are several of the other designs. Actually, the plates in use when we moved here in 1969 were probably the best. Plain white with black lettering saying Texas and numerals for the year. When you say Texas you don’t need to say more.

  35. american woman on February 4th, 2008 at 11:42 pm

I think the best ideas are the wet footprints ones, but how about the true license plate, It says Mexas or if you prefer Texico.

  36. Simple Simon on February 5th, 2008 at 12:10 am

    Bluebonnets !!!

Springtime in the Hill Country is my idea of heaven and the summer is pretty much what the Devil should use as a model for Hell.

    Simple

  37. jimb on February 5th, 2008 at 12:15 am

after GWB too many people around the country already think we are hic cowboys who ride horses every where.

Holy cow - You going to blame that on GWB too? If I’m correct, people thought that about Texas long before GWB took the stage…

  38. Al Williams on February 5th, 2008 at 1:55 am

so, how long will it take the prisoners to bash in that 7th letter, and are they getting paid an extra penny for doing so?

  39. Adee on February 5th, 2008 at 7:49 am

Maybe TXDOT will decide to offer the top two vote getters and let folks choose. That would be a tiny something done right. Their town meetings on TTC have been and will continue to be a rout aginst it. The natives are restless and shopping for pitchforks.

  40. vlou on February 5th, 2008 at 9:22 am

Give me the 2nd from the top. Probably it is the least expensive to produce and the plainest one.

  41. FourAlarm on February 5th, 2008 at 12:30 pm

Forget the Rio Grande river. How about the Red ‘ink’ river? Texans of all flavors will be drowning in that one soon.
