The first results from Super Tuesday are in, and Mike Huckabee draws first blood:
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Mike Huckabee won the first contest declared on Super Tuesday, picking up all 18 national delegates awarded at West Virginia’s state GOP convention. Huckabee bested Mitt Romney, who entered the Mountain State event with the largest bloc of pledged convention-goers. Both men and Ron Paul made in-person appeals to the more than 1,100 convention delegates attending Tuesday’s convention.
But the former Arkansas governor beat his Massachusetts counterpart after delegates for John McCain defected to his side.
It appears McCain people jumped ship to Huckabee to block any chance Romney had in this state. (I’m sure Romney’s folks will try to return the favor somewhere.) And Ron Paul was eliminated on the first ballot when he came in last.

They can defect back - in fact alot of this will go on until the convention
If anybody is surprised at the collusion in W. VA between McCain and Huckabee, he/she just fell off the turnip truck.
There you are Big Jolly, the Huck won one, probably will win a few more!
Ron Paul elimated? Oh, No! On second thought, oh, well.
The state that keeps reelecting Robert KKK Byrd did their best to block Romney. What a surprise.
Is McSlime as dirty as the Clintstones? Looking that way. Then we can whine when our taxes go up, half the cabinet is Dems, cocaine is legalized in the living quarters of the white house, and all judicial nominees have the ACLU seal of approval.
I don’t get it…how can we already call a state?? (pardon my youthful ignorance this IS my first primary y’know…
)
why didn’t my smiley show up??
Have to have a space after your last colon. LST Moderator
McCain voted for embryonic stem cell research to be paid for by the tax payers. Politics makes strange bedfellows. I guess when a couple pay big bucks to make a baby in a petri dish, it’s a baby. When science needs to make a baby to experiment on… it’s tissue, and the experiment should be paid for by the tax payers. Interesting. Huckabee and McCain, so much for honor.
#7 - you gotta put a colon in front of and behind your icon name, like this:
Geez, HAL, it was just some html symbol codes. Cough it up!
OMG Hal edited my post!! It totally showed two colons on either side of mrgreen when I first posted!!!
yeah Jim I DID put colons…I verified before I posted because I missed it last time…and when I posted and looked and it DIDN’T convert to the smilie I assumed I had done a semi-colon again but it showed a colon. Then I came back and now it shows a semi-colon!! What ever I think Hal hates me…
Look up. HAL doesn’t hate sopranos. LST Moderator
Where’s Nat Pierce ?
The stalking horse in this race was not Fred Thompson. It has been Huck all along.

W. Va’s was a caucus, not a primary. Delegates to the caucus (like a mini-convention) gather and vote until they get a winner and then it’s over.
Hi tex, will not take anything said about Fred back, yet, but Huckabee is one damfine stalking horse that’s for sure.
Maybe his followers will see him for what he is and what he is doing and make an independent judgment from now on, it would speak well for them.
Hahah thanks moderator…
Thanks for the explanation Rick.
I heard that Ron Paul’s delegates cut a deal so they will receive 3 of the 18 W Va delegates.
