Would Reagan support McCain-Feingold? McCain-Lieberman? McCain-Kennedy? Reagan spoke of a “big tent”, but he also said we should not sacrifice out conservative principals for the sake of expediency…

Reach across the table? Why would I want to do that? I want to crush those libtards, not work with them!

  3. KRAUT on February 6th, 2008 at 12:27 pm

Yea! he has alienated me already. I’ll not hold my nose for fear of suffocating.

  4. normal_fault on February 6th, 2008 at 12:28 pm

Ronnie reached out to the people, not across the aisle to the Dems! Big difference!

The Dimwits are like terrorists, it’s their way or no way. To them, compromise means you have to give in and do it their way. If McCain turns out to be the Republican nominee, as bad as McCain is, the alternative is worse. Obama is right, if it’s HELLary, the Republicans have a “whole truck load of dirt” to dump on HELLary. I could give you a “Top Ten” list of bad things that a HELLary/Bill presidency could do but “ten” would not near be enough. That’s why some of Dimwits know that if HELLary gets the nod, the conservatives will come out of the woodwork and vote against her and of course, the rest of the Dimwit ticket. And that is what the Dimwits fear more, the rest of the ticket!!!!!

Rice baseball starts in a mere 2 weeks - something to look forward to since election season is over.

I thought of you - and felt your pain - when I saw Lindsey Graham yukking it up with Joe Lieberman at a McCain victory bash last night. Can you imagine that little weasel having the President’s ear?

  8. Robert 1 on February 6th, 2008 at 12:52 pm

Wow, is McCain/Lieberman a possibility?? McCain, if he wins, will definitely need a conservative running mate. This might be good in the long run, since McCain’s age is a factor.

  9. Bannable Lecturer on February 6th, 2008 at 1:18 pm

    McCain-Clinton

  10. Wadefishin on February 6th, 2008 at 2:02 pm

    Robert1
the question is can McClain/Lieberman defeat Clinton/Obama and how do you tell them apart?

  11. An Observer on February 6th, 2008 at 2:15 pm

McCain-Lieberman,,,, conservative????? The only thing Lieberman is conservative about is the war on terror. On social positions he is a terrorist to conservative positions.
I am so amused at the total lack of quality of ANY candidate [on either side] in this presidential race. One would think that with all the talent in this country; it’s sad to see what it’s come down too for us to pick a leader.

  12. trl3 on February 6th, 2008 at 2:53 pm

If McCain wanted conservative support he should have acted like a conservative. Personally I think he is running in the wrong primary.

  13. An Observer on February 6th, 2008 at 3:07 pm

I posted yesterday that the only reason McCain isn’t running as a Democrat is because he can’t get the nomination of that party over Clinton or Obama.

I knew a Ronald Reagan once. …he lived down the street and always snarled at the neighborhood kids and would try to rip-off the paperboy. …maybe this is the same Ronald Reagan that McCain is referring to?

  15. Fontessa on February 6th, 2008 at 3:45 pm

Sweetie, did you say gin? Please, would you? I like my martinis mixed 5:1, and two olives please … one to start with and one to eat at the end. And keep ‘em coming.

  16. Adee on February 6th, 2008 at 4:04 pm

Ok, so we have a big say in our primary March 4. Go out and vote for Romney, then vote for every true conservative on down the list. If we are stuck with McCain as nominee, we must make sure we get as many real conservatives elected to the House and Senate as possible–countrywide.

Particularly the Senate, we must take that back. Confirmation (or not)of judges is vital as is ratifying treaties and the ability to block bills like Shamnesty. It’s the best way to slam the brakes on a liberal McCain. Same thing for the House. Gotta take back Dist. 22 from Lampson.

If he’s the nominee, perhaps he has to resign his Senate seat. Maybe AZ is smart enough not to have a Lyndon Law. And AZ is livid about illegal immigration. He barely won in his home state.

A friend who lives in St. Paul attended the caucus in her precinct last night and reports the place was jammed, needing another room. Attendees had to park several blocks away because of the turnout, and it was cold up there. Romney won the caucuses there last night, don’t know how that translates to delegate apportion which likely comes later. The blue state of Minnesota has that kind of GOP turnout. They are fighting to re-elect Senator Carlson (R); they are up to here with illegal immigration as are folks in Wisconsin.

For those who want to stay at home, think about what that will do to state, county & city elections. Don’t hand the Dems a gift on a silver platter. They don’t deserve it, and neither do we who will go vote.

Rick make mine tequila… it takes a lot less to become mind numb hehe

  18. american woman on February 6th, 2008 at 4:35 pm

Adee I am not staying home, but I am not voting McCain.

    Be right with you . . .

Gosh, decisions, decisions…Should the true conservatives keep spliting the conservative votes between Romney and Huckabee and let McCain win, or should I just dine with good friends at The Taste of Texas on March 4th? Let me know what y’all want to do.

    Obama/Clinton or
    McCain/Huckabee?

Sure hope The Taste of Texas serves Miller Lite! :)

  21. NAT PIERCE on February 6th, 2008 at 6:57 pm

Congress ratifies treaties and creates legislation, with McCain as president his old colleagues will be inclined to support him and his green house, plastic car, Kyoto treaty, Law of the Sea, tax the rich, socialist agenda, if however the Clintons are president they will do what they do best, which is rally Republicans and conservatives against liberalism.

Every Texas Republican politico that supports McCain publicly or privately should be shunned.

  22. Adee on February 6th, 2008 at 7:07 pm

#18 AW, Just skip the President box if you can’t stomach voting on that one and vote conservative down the line. Or, write in the one you can support for Pres.

Whoever the next Pres. is we need a stronger contingent of conservatives in Congress and so must work at gaining that.

  23. american woman on February 6th, 2008 at 7:53 pm

Adee that’s my plan. Write someone in, and vote conservative all the way.

  24. pimlico on February 6th, 2008 at 11:23 pm

As I Said in Big Jolly’s column, McCain is reaching alright but reaching for the LEFT. Reagan didn;t do that. HEY MCCAIN.!! We don’t care about REpubs. We care about PRiNCIPLE. McCain should do what Slick willie should have done….. Gone to Hollywood you’ve done an Oscar winning performance.

  25. Ghost Rider on February 7th, 2008 at 9:24 am

This year’s election is shaping up to be the most difficult voting decision I have ever had to make. Faced with a choice between Clinton and McCain, I can unhappily vote for McCain. But if he takes Lieberman or Huckabee on his ticket, I am left with no choice at all.
