As Hamous noted in this post, quite a few LST members participated in their precinct conventions after the elections last night and many of those are heading on to the district conventions as delegates. Great work, this is where change starts.
Some politicians realize the value of precinct conventions and some are ignorant to that. As anyone who heard the commercials for Allen Fletcher, Sen. Dan Patrick understands this and used a network of precinct chairmen to oust an incumbent House member. Another man that understands their value is my state senator, Mike Jackson.
Sen. Jackson was at our precinct convention last night and was an active participant in the resolution process. It’s great to have a senator that understands how hard people work and tries to limit government intrusion into our lives. He voted against the obnoxious business tax and often receives praise from free market and conservative groups. His criticism often comes from the likes of liberal blogger Vince Leibowitz at Capitol Annex for “only sending out five press releases in the last year”.
From personal experience, I know that if you approach Sen. Jackson with a real problem in a cordial manner, he will listen to you and either tell you yes, I’ll help, or no, not this time. Nothing wishy-washy about him, just straight up truth. And by the same token, whenever I’ve yelled at him, he’s yelled right back. Wish there were more of those guys around.
Sen. Jackson is going to be going up against a well funded Democrat lawyer in November and is going to need the help of all conservatives in Senate district 11. Let’s say no to hype and yes to solid conservatism.

This is what I meant by my comment to the House 130 thread. Fletcher is presented as a mere pawn for Dan Patrick’s plans.
I think that is almost insulting to Fletcher. Surely there’s more to him than doing whatever Dan Patrick/KSEV tells him to do. Isn’t there?
BigJ…… he sounds like a real winner……. can we clone him?
Jackson is a fairly reliable vote in the Senate, but not much more. In ideal circumstances he would be a low key follower of a conservative leader who is there for just that purpose: to provide backup votes and motions.
In today’s Texas senate though there are few real conservatives to lead much of anything. You got Dan Patrick, and that’s basically it.
Senate District 17 is opening up soon when the perpetually useless Kyle Janek resigns in June to become a lobbyist or some other ill-reputed profession. Houston voters need to keep an eye on that one because they have a chance to essentially double Dan Patrick’s clout in the senate.
When that happens the lower key conservative members like Jackson will fall into line and may actually accomplish something for a change.
Phil, I think that one of the reason Sen. Jackson has been elected so many times by our district is precisely because he isn’t loud and out front but works steadily behind the scenes to push the conservative agenda. Some say he is too pro-business but that’s okay by me.
Perhaps the demographics have changed and people want a cheerleader but I’ll stick with solid representation and I hope our district does.
I do not see Fletcher as a Dan Patrick pawn, Rather as a solid Conservative Representative and a warning that you can be replaced if you are an elected Republican that acts like a democrat.
We have enough RINOs and they need to hear the message and start acting like the conservatives they claimed to be when they were elected.
Do they only have the Precinct Conventions at the Presidential Primary or do they have them at every election?
Bigmck, they are held in March of even numbered years.

Thank you mam’n == I will be watching in two years. It sounds like something to get into.
I found it interesting that the Fletcher campaign tried to pander to the listeners of KSEV as if we are mindless robots following Dan Patrick and agree with everything he does.
Jackson is weak !!! Give him the boot.
I was so hoping someone would run against him.
I guess the only way to get him out is give it to the Dem and then try and get the seat back.
What ever the case get rid of Jackson. He was no help on the property tax fight!!!
