Police are looking for the editor of Afrique-Asie magazine, whose pro-Soviet line and support for certain Third World countries is said to have upset President Valery Giscard d’Estain, The Sunday Times of London reported.Egyptian-born Simon Malley, 47, his American wife Barbara and their three children reportedly have gone into hiding. They face expulsion for what officials describe as “political activities which do not correspond with, and even run contrary to, French interests in certain countries.”Afrique-Asie, which has a circulation of nearly 120,000 mostly in Africa and Latin America, is said to have received Soviet financial backing. Malley, a founder of the Egyptian Communist Party, arrived in France 11 years ago from the United States, where he worked for a Cairo newspaper.
So wrote the Washington Post on August 7, 1980, describing the travails of the Malley family, their grand adventures through the Leftist salons of Europe. Seventeen year old Robert Malley ended up in Switzerland with his family and returned to Paris with the election of the more friendly, socialist French President, Francois Mitterand.
Simon Malley, an Egytian-born Jew who rejected his faith and embraced Marxism, was the father of Robert and a crusader for the Palestinians and their terrorist leader, Yassir Arafat. As a frequent guest of the Malleys, Arafat was the beneficiary of much of Simon Malley’s writing and publishing efforts funded, according to the French government, by the communist Soviet Union.
Visiting the sins of the father upon the son would be an unfair burden were it not for the career chosen by young Robert. As National Security Council Director for Near East and South Asian Affairs during the Clinton administration and Special Assistant to the President for Arab-Israeli Affairs, Robert Malley was present during the talks at Camp David, which failed, causing great embarassment for the Clinton White House. Robert Malley is now a key adviser to the campaign of presidential candidate, Barack Obama.
Alone among the American and Israeli participants, Malley has publicly blamed the failure squarely upon Israel. A series of articles written with Palestinian adviser and cohort of Arafat, Hussein Agha, have sought to portray Israel as an imperialistic occupier of “colonies”, a word use he coined to describe disputed lands in the West Bank and Gaza. In an interview with the Financial Times, an unnamed adviser (reputed to be Malley) reveals the political strategy he advocates for Barack Obama:
The plain fact is there is no upside for candidates to challenge the prevailing assumptions about Israel,” said one of their advisers, who asked not to be named. “The best strategy is to win the White House and then change the debate.”
Ed Lasky, news editor of The American Thinker, wrote:
Drilling down further we have Robert Malley. He was part of the American negotiating team that dealt with Yasser Arafat at Camp David. He has presented a revisionist history of those negotiations since then: presenting a view that blames Israel for the failures of the negotiations. His version has been radically at odds with the views of Americans and Israelis (including the views of American Middle East negotiator Dennis Ross-also an adviser to Obama- and President Clinton).
He has spent years representing the Palestinian point of view, co-writing a series of anti-Israel articles with Hussein Agha-a former Arafat adviser. Palestinian advocate. These have appeared in the New York Review of Books a publication that has served as a platform for a slew of anti-Israel advocates from Tony Judt to the aforementioned George Soros to the authors of the Israeli Lobby book Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer. Malley has also called settlements “colonies” — implicitly condemning Israel as a “colonial” state. His writings have been so critical of Israel that the media-monitoring group CAMERA has a “dossier” on him.
Lasky has done more research on Malley than anyone else and is to be commended for his fine work. He put together this comprehensive overview of Robert Malley in an article titled, Barack Obama’s Middle East Expert, and asks these and other questions in closing:
Why would Barack Obama give credibility to a man who seems to have an agenda that includes empowering our enemies and weakening our friends and allies?
How did Robert Malley, with a record of writing that reveals a willingness to twist facts to serve a political agenda, come to be appointed by Obama to his foreign staff?
Was it a recommendation of Zbigniew Brzezinski to bring on board another anti-Israel foreign policy expert?
What role did the left-wing anti-Israel activist George Soros play in placing Robert Malley (or for that matter, Brzezinski himself) in a position to influence the future foreign policy of America?
Currently, Malley works as the Middle East & North Africa director for an organization named International Crisis Group, funded by none other than billionaire board member, George Soros. Robert Malley will be on the very short list for a high-profile position in a Barack Obama administration. Remember this when you vote in November.
On March 5, 2008, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on House Resolution 951, sponsored by Rebublican Congressmen Scott Garrett of New Jersey and Jebb Hensarling of Texas. A total of 404 Democrats and Republicans voted in favor of the resolution. Four Democrats voted “Present” and clearly did not support the measure while one lone Republican voted “No” to the following language.
Neill Abercrombie-D Hawaii, Hezbollah sympathizer; Jim Moran-D Virginia, notorious Jewish Conspiracy theorist; Michael Capuano-D Massachusetts, Pelosi enforcer and sworn enemy of the Israeli lobby; Jim McDermott-D Washington, Saddam Hussein apologist and violator of federal privacy laws all declined to vote for the resolution, though being present for the roll call.

Clerk.
That brings us to the lone, single U.S. Congressman who voted “No” against this resolution, the man wearing the tie in the picture below:

Those guys at the Chron are slick when it comes to hiding their bias and Alan Bernstein, their ace political reporter is one of the best at it. Always subtle, never blatant, just a little here, a little there and pretty soon he has his message out and no one calls him on it. Recall his word play when Tom Tancredo came to Houston and had to have his thirst quenched by an illegal alien.
In an article published the day after the election, Mr. Bernstein and the Chron continue their endorsement of Pat Lykos, again, very subtle, nothing over the top, just a bit of narrative here and there laying a foundation that Lykos is the best candidate. Consider the opening paragraph:
After finishing third in the Republican primary for Harris County district attorney, defense lawyer and former prosecutor Jim Leitner said Wednesday he will vote for former judge Pat Lykos in the runoff against prosecutor Kelly Siegler.
Is that news? Maybe, maybe not. But look at how he follows up a couple of paragraphs later.
Leitner, who placed third in the primary for DA eight years ago as well, said in this year’s campaign that the agency needed reform by an outsider in the wake of disgraced District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal’s resignation. He said backing Siegler, a prosecutor for the last 21 years, would conflict with his reform goals.
“It’s going to be the same old, same old” with Siegler as the GOP nominee, Leitner said. “I don’t think that will be good enough to beat (C.O.) Bradford.”
That isn’t news, that’s a Lykos talking point. But, hey, you know, Mr. Bernstein is “just” a reporter here, right? He then throws this out:
“She is a one-act play,” Lykos said Wednesday of Siegler’s famously sensational techniques in criminal trials. “For all of her career, she has engaged in theatrics and gotten away with fudging facts, in court and now as a cynical politician.”
Now, I’ve read an awful lot about Kelly Siegler recently and I would agree that she has shown a flair for theatrics. But not once have I read that she plays loose with or fudges the facts. As a reporter, especially a long time political reporter with a wealth of Houston political knowledge, wouldn’t you want to follow up with a question asking for proof of that? I would. Instead, Mr. Bernstein links it to an admittedly stupid statement that Mrs. Siegler made in trial.
Lykos’ charge that Siegler has obscured facts in court follows the disclosure several weeks ago of the prosecutor’s remarks about a black potential juror in a 2007 death penalty trial. Challenged on whether she blocked the man because of his race, Siegler instead cited her suspicion about his membership in non-denominational Lakewood Church.
Say what? What the heck does her statement have to do with fudging facts? Nothing at all. What it does, very effectively, very subtlety is to give credence to Lykos’ baseless claim.
He saves the best for last. Recall that he uses the talking point earlier in the article that change must come from outside the office. Now, look at his closing statement.
She cited a 2000 essay by Justice For Children founder Randy Burton that said “the district attorney’s office has a blind spot when it comes to the prosecution of offenses against children.”
Nice, eh? Like I said, he’s very, very good. His message? Lykos for DA.
Open message to Mr. Bernstein and the Chron: Play fair in this race. It is one of most critical positions that voters pick because it actually affects peoples lives. Leave the bias out and just give us the facts. We’ll figure out who to vote for.
Pete Olson, candidate for United States Congress in Texas’ 22 Congressional District, qualified for the run-off as a result of [Tuesday's] primary election in Texas.
As you know, Texas’ 22 Congressional District is one of the most Republican districts in the state (voting 64% for President Bush in 2004) — AND - it represents one of the most promising opportunities for Republicans to win back a congressional seat.
We believe the candidate best equipped to face Congressman Nick Lampson is Pete Olson, and we ask you to join us in supporting his run-off effort.
Here are the sitting members of the Texas delegation–who, collectively, have an average lifetime rating of 94% from the American Conservative Union–who have came out in support of Pete Olson.
- John Cornyn (TX)
- John Culberson (Houston, TX-07)
- Michael McCaul (Houston, TX-10)
- Pete Sessions (Dallas, TX-32)
- Jeb Hensarling (Dallas, TX-05)
- Kenny Marchant (Coppell, TX-24)
- Sam Johnson (Richardson, TX-03)
- Kay Granger (Ft. Worth, TX-12)
- Mike Conaway (Midland, TX-11)
- Louie Gohmert (Tyler, TX-01)
- Lamar Smith (San Antonio, TX-21)
- Randy Neugebauer (Lubbock, TX-19)
- Mac Thornberry (Amarillo, TX-13)
I’d think the endorsement from John Culberson would be particularly persuasive among voters within KSEV’s radio footprint.
We continue to await a statement of endorsement from the Pelican, and will gladly publish one as soon as one arrives.

Ever had a dream for retirement? You know, you made a solid investment, thinking that you would cash it in and travel the world? How would you feel if, instead of selling it to the highest bidder, a government entity decided to take your dream and give you pennies on the dollar? That’s what happened to these 75 year old twins.
Houston veterinarians James and Jock Collins envisioned a nest egg for their retirement when they bought a house in the Galleria area in 1982.
Instead of enjoying the proceeds from their investment, however, the 75-year-old twins are locked in a battle with the city of Houston. In an unusual use of its eminent domain authority, the city has condemned the property to develop a small “pocket park” on the edge of a large, upscale redevelopment project.
In Thomas Sowell’s latest book, Economic Facts and Fallacies, he devotes an entire chapter to urban planning and development, highlighting the current practice of condemning land for “green space”. In this particular case, the evils of this practice are shown on two levels.
First is the power of influence in government. After the twins refused to sell in July of 2006 for $1.4 million, the developers turned to the city to do their bidding.
The Collinses said city officials first advised them of plans to develop a park on the 7,200-square-foot property in October 2006 — three months after their negotiations to sell the property to Wulfe & Co. for the BLVD Place project broke down.
Ed Wulfe, the president of Wulfe & Co., serves on the Uptown District’s board. Wulfe is well-known at City Hall and is active in numerous civic organizations.
Wulfe said he played no role in the Uptown District’s plans to develop a park on the site. Once his company’s negotiations with the brothers stopped, “we were out of it,” he said.
Of course you were out of it. Wink.
The second evil is the power of eminent domain, TIRZ’s and urban planners working in combination to disrupt the free market. Less than a year after a market price of $1.4 million was declined, the city wants to steal the land from the twins for a million bucks less. The property is in the Uptown TIRZ, providing tax breaks to developers. Urban planners think that “green space” is somehow a right of the “people” and think that individual property rights are non-existent.
Good luck to the twins. I hope they have better luck than the retarded did when Mayor Bill White blackmailed them for millions.
UPDATE: texpat found a nice visual aid of what has happened since Kelo emboldened cities.

He said that he hoped that one day he and his supporters could look back and say his campaign was a significant first step that signaled a change in direction for the country.
Paul said their job now was to plan for the next phase of their effort.
What will the next phase be?
