The scandalized Governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer, has been outdone by a Muslim law enforcement official.  Proving once again life is far stranger than fiction, Reza Zarei, Chief of Police in Tehran, has been arrested in a brothel there in the company of not one, or two, but six women.  No one in the room was clothed according to news reports. 

The irony index, as a factor in human life, soared off the charts as word of the arrest was leaked out by Iranian bloggers.  Reza Zarei was the leading force behind recent efforts of the fascist police in Iran to enforce new and stricter modesty codes for women’s dress in public.  Agence France Presse described the crackdown last September:

Iran is pressing on with one of its toughest moral crackdowns in years, warning tens of thousands of women over slack dress, targeting “immoral” cafes and seizing illegal satellite receivers, local media reported on Monday.

The Iranian police launched the crackdown in April in a self-declared drive to “elevate security in society” that encompassed arrests of thugs, raids on underground parties and street checks of improperly dressed individuals.

Reza Zarei, commander of police in Tehran province, said that since the drive began police in his region have handed out 113,454 warnings to women found to have infringed Iran’s strict Islamic dress rules.

The City of Houston, faced with a rash of robberies and murders in convenience stores, is finally cracking down.

Not on the criminals, of course, but on shopkeepers:

Convenience store owners would have to register their businesses with the city and install cameras, drop safes and panic buttons under a proposal headed to the City Council in the coming weeks.

The council’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee voted Monday to recommend the proposed ordinance, aimed at controlling crime at hundreds of convenience stores across the city, to the full council, where it could be adopted within a month.

The ordinance would mandate such tough-on-crime measures as:

•Signage: “No loitering” and “No trespassing” signs posted on doors and walls, and “height strips” placed on doors, so a clerk can estimate a retreating robber’s height for later identification to police.

I feel safer already. Well, not really, considering we still have an understaffed police department and an absentee chief.

New York - At a hastily scheduled morning press conference at the headquarters of New York’s exclusive Emperors Club prostitution ring, high priced call girl “Kristen” announced that she would  temporarily step aside in the wake of charges that she had engaged in sex with New York Governor Eliot Spitzer.

“I made a serious mistake and betrayed the trust of my co-workers, my many clients, and my pimps,” she said in a quiet voice cracking with emotion. “I will be taking a leave of absence to earn their forgiveness, and redeem myself in the eyes of the entire expensive whore community.”

The embattled prostitute did not mention Spitzer by name, and stopped short of offering an official resignation. But longtime sex industry insiders say that it will be difficult for Kristen to return to her post in light of mounting federal wiretap evidence that she had sexually serviced the Governor on at least two occasions.

Yes, those guys and gals driving around with “Campus Police” on their car doors are real cops. And in Texas, they are armed.

In Texas, law enforcement departments on college campuses seem to be ahead of this trend, with nearly 94 percent of surveyed universities arming their police and just as many employing sworn officers.

In Texas, 44 of the 47 universities surveyed have armed officers, compared with about two-thirds of universities nationwide. But only four Texas schools reported giving their police Tasers, compared with 20 percent nationally.

No Tasers? Hmm. That’s probably a good thing given the tendency shown by officers around the nation to overuse them. But what about those guns?

“Texas is Texas: We are a state that has firearms,” said Bill Taylor, chief of police at Rice University, which has sworn and armed officers. “If you don’t have firearms on campus, what are the campus police going to do if somebody shows up with a weapon?”

Well….why not allow students with CHL’s to carry their weapons on campus? Think about the lives that could be saved. In fact, Friend-o-LST Rorschach introduced a resolution at his precinct convention to do just that and it passed, moving on to the next level.

Whereas: The right to self defense is absolute and granted by God. The second amendment of the US Constitution recognizes and affirms the God given right of the individual to arm themselves against aggression.

Whereas: “Gun Free Zones” have time and again proven to be magnets for the misfits of society that wish to kill large numbers of unarmed people as a means of gaining posthumous notoriety. Because law abiding people will not arm themselves in violation of the law but criminals have no such compunction.

Whereas: The state has usurped the right to self defense by instituting rules governing the possession of weapons on the grounds of schools and college campuses, by individuals with Concealed Handgun Licenses. Such rules impair the ability of teachers, administrators, and college students to protect themselves and others in the event that a gunman attempts to use the school as a killing field.

Whereas: Numerous instances of a CHL holder halting such rampages before the gunman can complete his plan exist, including Pearl Mississippi High School, Appalachian Law School, and others.

Therefore Be it Resolved:
The Harris County Republican Party calls for the passage of legislation that eliminates the restriction of trained and licensed CHL permit holders from arming themselves on the grounds of a school or university, and withholds all state funding for schools that implement local rules that prevent the carrying of licensed concealed weapon on school or university grounds.

Not bad. Let’s get this thing passed on March 29 and move it on to the state level.

Iranian students are offering rewards totaling a million dollars for the execution of three top Israeli military officers over the deadly strikes on Gaza, and encouraging fellow Iranians to donate their kidneys to raise the funds, the student news agency ISNA reported on Monday.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Mossad spy agency director Meir Dagan and military intelligence chief Amos Yadlin are the targets of the bounty and are blamed for last month’s assassination of Hezbollah mastermind Imad Mughniyeh.

The rewards were announced by the Justice Seeking Students Group on Sunday at a ceremony in Tehran entitled “setting the bounty for the revolutionary execution of the designers of state terrorism,” ISNA said.

The bounty for Defense Minister Barak is set at $400,000 while those for Dagan and Yadlin are $300,000 each, AFP reports. It is not clear where the funds will come from.

“These sums will be given to any person or their families who could punish these individuals in any part of the world,” the organisers of the event announced.

Pictures taken at the ceremony showed a banner bearing pictures of the three Israelis against the backdrop of an Israeli flag, with rifle sights stencilled onto the foreheads of the trio, according to AFP.

“Israel must be wiped off the map,” read a quote from Iran’s revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini printed atop the banner.

After police questioned Joshua Mauldin, days after the child left a seawall hotel room with burns, Eva Mauldin asked for a few minutes alone with her husband, in the interview room.

Officers granted the request, but continued to observe the pair from outside the room, according to police reports.

As investigators looked on, the Mauldins did not discuss the child’s condition or the attack, but engaged in oral sex, police reports state.

Damn.

Now she’s a Hall of Fame girl.
