Bernie Garcia said a young man approached her at a gas station as she was buying fuel for her van and asked for money. When she told him she had spent all her spare change on gas, he tried to grab her purse.
“But I had it wrapped around my wrist twice,” Garcia said, and he was unable to pull it away.
She fought back, spraying his shirt with some gasoline. Both of them kept hold of the purse, and he pulled her to the ground and dragged her a short distance until another man confronted him.
“My son said, ‘Why didn’t you just give (the purse) up?’” Garcia said. “‘Hell no,’ I told him. That was my purse. I was fighting for what was mine.”

I like it!
If only our politicians were like this granny - don’t just give away our money so easily!
#2 - tedham - Ain’t that the truth! I hope I’m (still) that fiesty when I’m 83!
It’s a good thing for the thief that Granny wasn’t packing.
I saw that story earlier. She’s extremely lucky she wasn’t badly hurt. She’s even luckier that she had a gas nozzle in her hand! Too bad she didn’t have a bic handy as well. Punks. Bully for her!
Wonder if the perps were stupid enough to tell fellow inmates what they were in the slammer for. Maybe they left out the part about Granny. If they didn’t it’s likely someone in there would take exception to it.
She sounds like ” the little old lady from Pasedena” go granny go!
This granny lady sounds much more vicious than policemen carrying scary looking guns and Asst District Attorneys using lawyer tricks in the courtroom. Are you sure we should be applauding her Mr. BJ? I’m confused as to who we are to respect and who we are to fear here lately.
Somehow that doesn’t surprise me.
#8 - Geez, man. Why you gotta troll like that?
I’ll do BigJ one better. The dude’s lucky she didn’t spray him in the eyes with the gasoline nozzle. I would have, were I in her shoes.
Too bad Granny didn’t have a match.
All Kudo’s to Grandma!!!
And to the bystander who also came to help. That thug is lucky I wasn’t there. He might have accidentally “fallen” on his face a few times before the cops showed up.
Good for granny! Don’t put anything past us oldies. We are not wimps.
#8 Get a grip! Put yourself in the same situation. Now what are going do YOU do?
I’m w/you jimb. Put away the feed bag.
Prev. post should read: Now what are you going to do?
Congrats to granny and am glad that you are o.k.
Y’all cut some slack to Rastus. The weasels have eaten too much of his flesh. ;0

‘Why didn’t you just give (the purse) up?’”
Has it occured to anyone else that by preaching this philosophy for the last several decads we have actually been encouraging criminal behavour?
I see this in the same light as the right to carry…if more folks fought back, fewer incidents would occur!
Hooray for us grannies!
I’m glad it ended as well as it did.
If it had been me, I would have given the guy my purse. My life is more important than the $15 piece of vinyl that never has any money in it.
