Chronicle cartoonist Nick Anderson, in an attempt to “shore up the finances” of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists, is auctioning off a print of his Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoon, predictably bashing the president.
Let’s see how the bidding is going:

Ouch. Might want to try a lemonade stand, Nick.

Only paying what it’s worth. Until some lib finds this post and decides to start bidding just to pith uth off.
Ummm tedtam the auction is over. That makes this thing funnier yet. Funnier yet the first four or five comments on the story were these platitudes of praise and how good an idea it was to have an auction. Why did they not bid?
Sorry Nick, I’m saving my money up for a Berkley Breathed Litho.
Long live Bill The Cat & Opus.

“Ummm tedtam the auction is over”
According to my browser the auction ends April 3
Six more days. And on ebay the bids are always late in the auction
I’ll be the 1st to admit it, I’m pretty much a moron, so will someone please explain the merits of this ‘cartoon’ to me and if insight / humor is present at all there?
I like how he says
Is this his explanation for why nobody bid the first time??
7 Thar ain’t no merit, insight or humor.
I noticed on the previous one (that did sell) that it went for $37. That’s sad. It couldn’t have been a whole lot less than that to have the thing printed, eh? Not much profit margin.
I had a full color ANSI C size (17″ x 22″) print of a poster I did for our Cub Scout Pack’s Mission to Mars at HMNS made at Fed-Ex/Kinkos. It cost ~$30 to have that done.
My bad Dov
I looked at the first auction and was to gleeful over my NIGYSOB moment that I failed to note the second auction or Matt’s extraordinary screen capture.

Harrisburg PA? I assume that means Nick the D!ck does not live around here?
Nah, he lives in Houston. The AAEC is located in Harrisburg.
Nick Anderson is actually a pretty good cartoonist, and he certainly isn’t as rabidly liberal as most. This definitely wasn’t one of his better cartoons, though.
I hear you. You have no idea how many times I had to go change my panties from laughing so hard.
(Come to think of it… I’ve never had to. Hmmm)
There’s a clever answer coming as soon as HAL determines the “p” word I typed is not profane. Stay tuned…
I had no trouble finding humor in the cartoon. But I’m a libertarian, which means I get a good chuckle from both republican and democratic political humor.
It’s Friday y’all… Lighten up!

Well, I’m a libertarian, and I didn’t see any humor in it. You see, there has to be a basis of truth for something to be funny.
And believe me when I say I am NOT a Bush supporter. I think I’ll get at least one or two “amens” from the loyal readers here to that statement. But this “cartoon” just isn’t funny, original, or even thoughtful.
It’s just filler. I can get that by going to a construction site with a wheelbarrow. It has about as much value as what I find there, too.
I wouldn’t take the piece of stupid garbage if they paid me $25. Who is he kidding? He’s a no talent hack as far as I’m concerned, no matter what Owen says.
Stupid liberal cartoonists. Who needs ‘em….
Trust me, Bob, when you see what we’re posting on Monday morning, you’ll see the humor.
Stay tuned, y’all,
Some of my best art I wrote in the snow at my grandfathers farm in Minnesota. You have any idea how difficult it is to paint a masterpiece in under 30 seconds before the media gets exhausted or the “brush” gets frozen?
Don’t give up yet, guys. It’s Sunday and STILL no bids. About what that trash is worth.
Wow, the Pulitzer people must have slipped. That’s not really funny or clever. Very pedestrian.
