    I vote for her.

  2. tqs on March 28th, 2008 at 10:51 am

How long til she gets denigrated as an Aunt Jamima? The people that already get it, understand what she says. The ones that don’t will just ridicule her. Who are the real black leaders? Sharpton, Jackson, Quanell, or is it Condie Rice, Powell, Cosby, and now Frances Rice?

  3. jimb on March 28th, 2008 at 10:53 am

Whereas the Democratic Party’s soft bigotry of low expectations and social promotions have consigned African Americans to economic bondage and created a culture of dependency on government social programs

Now why don’t more people realize that? Dems don’t want to empower anybody, they want to create dependence!

  4. Dov on March 28th, 2008 at 10:55 am

She definitely has no love for the Democratic Party

  5. TexasDrifter on March 28th, 2008 at 11:00 am

Nice to see someone who can read history beyond the last week and reads something other than the usual glib headlines.

The likes of Bill Cosby and Larry Elder have been speaking of these things for sometime.

  6. Cajun Maverick on March 28th, 2008 at 11:04 am

#5 Thomas Sowell comes to mind too.

  7. Katfish on March 28th, 2008 at 11:05 am

Lt Col. Rice we send a hearty SaaaaaaaaaaaaaLUTE!

  8. blackgirl on March 28th, 2008 at 11:10 am

Tell it like it is Sistar!

  9. TexKraut on March 28th, 2008 at 11:15 am

A hearty amen to all the above. Finally a breath of sanity in this insane world. Finally someone who is not afraid to so eloquently outline the actual history of the racist Democrat Party and how they have done their best to keep the blacks in America on the plantation. I for one gladly welcome those who “get it” into the conservative ranks (note I did not say Republican - they are not the same).

  10. Cajun Maverick on March 28th, 2008 at 11:16 am

#9 yes, we know the difference between conservative and Republican. Unfortunately, a lot of America doesn’t nor does the MSM want them to.

  11. Maltboys Evil Twin on March 28th, 2008 at 11:17 am

Now she is someone with courage and brains, unlike that Idiotarian coward over at that I Am A Bad American blog.

  12. The Dude on March 28th, 2008 at 11:30 am

It seems to me that America would benefit greatly by recognizing a lot more black women like Lt. Col. Rice and a lot fewer like Oprah Winfrey.

  13. Robert 1 on March 28th, 2008 at 11:36 am

Now, here’s one person who won’t be asked to speak at the Dimwit Convention. I wonder why???

  14. SC on March 28th, 2008 at 11:39 am

I hope that gets wide distribution.

  15. tedtam on March 28th, 2008 at 11:46 am

It’ll get NO play from the MSM. There is no rug big enough or near enough for them to shove this underneath.

    But, DAYUMM, was this good!

  16. blackgirl on March 28th, 2008 at 11:53 am

Just for the record, Condi Rice is my hero. She has had to endure some of the most demeaning and hateful comments/actions from her own people while serving this Country. She stands tall for what she believes in.

Mr. texpat, you really made my day!

  17. tedtam on March 28th, 2008 at 12:14 pm

Would she be willing to donate her spine to some needy Republican?

  18. trl3 on March 28th, 2008 at 12:20 pm

Condi Rice, now that would have been a great choice for a Republican nominee for President.

  19. texpat on March 28th, 2008 at 12:33 pm

    #16 blackgirl

You are welcome. I am glad you enjoyed it. I have a Condi Rice front page piece I’ll put up next week. You will like it.

  20. Meglet on March 28th, 2008 at 12:39 pm

Who wants to bet this gets ZERO coverage in the main stream media???

  21. Rorschach on March 28th, 2008 at 1:17 pm

I vote we have her address the RNC convention!

  22. tedtam on March 28th, 2008 at 1:58 pm

Would she be willing to be a write-in candidate? Run for governor of Texas? I don’t care if she lives here or not - let ‘er run!

  23. redneckneighbor on March 28th, 2008 at 2:21 pm

Amen! She needs to go preach a sermon at the Trinity Church of Christ in Chicago. We need more great Americans like her.

  24. Shannon on March 28th, 2008 at 2:21 pm

I sure hope Ms. Rice had this thing vetted by Thin Gravy, first.

  25. american woman on March 28th, 2008 at 3:17 pm

What an outstanding piece, and an outstanding American. I hope, like many of you, this gets a lot of coverage. Let’s share it with our internet friends all over the globe. Maybe we can help.

  26. carbon-credit on March 28th, 2008 at 4:12 pm

    excellent…although I could have done without the hyphenated-american thing…

I have to read occasionally, even if I am from Indiana, as there SEEMS to be More intelligence in One Texan Community than the rest of the country combined.

  31. Mike Smith on March 29th, 2008 at 7:08 am

I posted it in the Houston and Austin usenet newsgroups. This should be interesting.

  32. Adee on March 29th, 2008 at 5:53 pm

#31 Mike Smith, Good for you. I hope this gets more attention.

  33. pimlico on March 29th, 2008 at 8:31 pm

MS. Rice should take Obama’s place….. She forgot a few things: Whereas the poverty pimping Jesse, Al and J Wright have enabled, lied and been ’stooges’ for the Democrats; shame on them. Dr rev Wright should give the equivalent of 90% of his 10,000 square ft. house to the slush fund for reparations. 2. whereas the Dem Party coughs up these reparations ( and pay for private schools for all black children) The Feds will no longer need to need to give out the economic stimulous package, since the spending spree will be enough to quell the talking down of the economy. 3. Whereas many in the black community are in danger of losing their homes. Some because of ARM mortgages and others because of State legislators raising their property taxes by 9% per annum. Therefore The legislature of Texas should forgo their indulgent State retirement Cheques and send it to those in fear of losing their Home….. It seems to me that we could reach out to our ‘Neighbours of Colour’ and share our CLOUT info with them.

  34. semperloco on March 31st, 2008 at 12:37 pm

I have to stick my oar in the water here, just for clarity’s sake…this Lt. Col. Rice is not Condi Rice.

By the way…does she really think black folk are held back by the fact they used to be slaves?

  35. presence1960 on April 11th, 2008 at 7:54 am

There is no need to research this. First of all if you read between the lines you will see that this woman has an axe to grind. I as an individual or as a member of any group would never apologize for something which I was not a part of. When slavery and the Klan were dominant I was not there nor was I a supporter of either. To apologize for something for which I am not a part of is an admission of guilt. What I would do is condemn the past actions, but would not apologize for them. Secondly there is no real evidence that the Klan was an arm of the democratic party, at least I have never been aware of any such evidence. All we have here is the Lt. Col.’s opinion which is not reinforced by any fact(s). As far as slavery and reconstruction of the South after the civil war it is really a disservice and a misrepresentation to put out the idea that the situation was as basic as Democrat & Republican, more specifically that Democrats tried to block integration and civil rights and Republicans were on the opposite side. To believe this is childish and insane. Actually the make up of the friction was more along the lines of the good ole boys from the South and the abolitionists from the North. Of course there were people from the South against slavery and the intimidation to suppress civil rights as there were people from the North who supported slavery and intimidation to suppress civil rights.

In closing I have to say that the blinders need to come off. Nothing comes down to Republican or Democrat in the final analysis. This country and the world are way more complex than that..

African-Americans are so quick to denounce the “white men” who brought slaves to America, but you know what I find quite disturbing? It is the lack of that same mentality to denounce the African brothers who sold them to the white men in the first place. White America was absolutely a disgrace for having slaves but so were the African brothers who sold their own to the white men. Why don’t we hear any of this uproar over this? I find this lack of the same enthusiasm for action and apologies from the African slave sellers very hypocritical in my opinion.
