AHCL, great article. Keep them coming. I noticed at the District meeting Saturday, there were a lot of Lykos supporters. The amazing thing was most of them looked just like her. Clones. How is Kelly polling? Have you any idea? I’m worried for her.

“Used evidence obtained by deceit causing the reversal of two killers’ death sentence convictions. Siegler brags about the conviction — but doesn’t talk about the reversals, or the agony of the victim’s family having to endure two trial, again!

Lykos, as a FORMER Judge, knowingly saw the fact that Kelly got convictions based on evidence and caused nothing. Lykos is twisting and lying to try to obtain another “publicly funded” job.

Vote Siegler and lets keep an experienced, dedicated prosecutor in the office yet now as the head D. A.

  3. Shannon on April 3rd, 2008 at 9:16 am

Why would one vote for Lykos, considering she hangs around such sleazebags?

  4. Rastus on April 3rd, 2008 at 9:20 am

I’m for Ms. Siegler because I’ve always had a thing for tough, aggressive women. Of course I’m also poverty stricken as a result of selecting women of this type for mates, but that’s immaterial to this writing. It’s time to unleash one of these she demons on the Harris County criminal element and shred them like a pack of wild dogs. Go Kelly, go.

  5. trl3 on April 3rd, 2008 at 9:21 am

Since Lykos, who is not qualified, is running against Seigler, who is highly qualified, Lykos has no choice but to try to deceive the voters into voting against her opponent.

How can such an UNETHICAL person as Lykos hope to bring ethics back to the DA’s office?

Great post AHCL. I’m just now going through my stack of mail and I’m about to throw out my “LINK Letter” from Terry Lowry. Despicable.

  7. TexasAC on April 3rd, 2008 at 9:32 am

This old timer already voted by mail for Kelly Seigler on her dynamics as a prosecutor. All of Lykos stuff in my postal box is now trash-mail.

  8. Phil_M on April 3rd, 2008 at 10:02 am

Lowry is pure trash and has been trash for years.

I’ve worked campaigns before where he has solicited both sides for an “advertisement.” He offers an endorsement to one side with the ad purchase, then goes to the other side and asks them to top the previous bid. Then suddenly the “advertisement” that initially cost $5,000 is up to $10,000 or $15,000 because he bids the two candidates against each other.

One of the candidates I worked with saw right through this game and finally told him no more. Lowry responded by smearing the guy for the next month. Now he’s doing the same to Kelly Siegler.

I’m no fan of the various sleaze machines that appear every republican primary (and they know who they are), but Lowry is a class onto himself of sleaziness. By the way, Lowry has received tens of thousands of dollars in “contract work” for “voter mobilization” from the Harris County Republican Party in the last 5 years. Remember that the next time you see Jared Woodfill, and the next time he asks you for a contribution to an HCRP fundraiser. Demand assurances that Lowry be cut loose once and for all.

  9. Phil_M on April 3rd, 2008 at 10:13 am

One other thing that tells you what kind of business Terry Lowry is in: he never endorses in races where he isn’t paid.

This includes clear-cut races between conservatives and RINOs where the choice should be a no-brainer for any “Christian conservative” publication (e.g. Pete Olsen over SSG). But since neither purchases an endorsement from him he stays out.

This is a good piece. We need more straight talk like this. Candidates for any office need to be exposed when they are not being honest in their dealings. It would do them all well to remember: “nothing ruins the truth like stretching it”.

  11. Adee on April 3rd, 2008 at 10:49 am

Go Kelly Go. Wish I could vote for you, except I live in Fort Bend County. You’ve got the right stuff, lady.

  12. Meglet on April 3rd, 2008 at 11:06 am

You know one of the very few things that bugs me about Kelly (and this is nitpicking haha) is that she showed up to the convention in like a tshirt and jeans…did anyone else find that a bit odd? I kind of felt like that didn’t help her if she was going to sway any last minute changing minds. Am I just weird? It just seemed kind of unprofessional… (and no I did not go in just a tshirt hehe)

  13. duhmoose on April 3rd, 2008 at 11:24 am

Meglet, I did find that a little surprising, however it did seem to fit with her “down in the trenches” speech. I think she most likely did it because she was wearing a Kelly Siegler campaign T-shirt.

What bothers me the most is Lykos’ ad is the statement she would restore integrity to the District Attorney’s office. It is in my opinion that most if not all of the attorneys in that office have tons of integrity. What a slap in the face to potential employees. They all work for government pay against the most high powered attorneys in the world. Yea Chuck was bad but that did not tarnish the District Attorney’s office where integrity needs to be restored. And for all you conservative Republicans that participated in “Operation Chaos”, who are you going to hurt or help now. Get out and vote today for Ms. Siegler.

  15. Royko on April 3rd, 2008 at 11:47 am

Terry Lowry’s “LINK LETTER” lacks credibility, and is worthless. I hope he gets the message soon.

Terry does not care what anyone thinks about the newsletter as long as he conitues to profit from it.

  17. Maltboy! on April 3rd, 2008 at 1:06 pm

Between Lykos and Shelly Succubus-Gibbs, this runoff is a real stinker.

  18. tedtam on April 3rd, 2008 at 2:13 pm

When I listened to Siegler and Lykos at the convention, Siegler sounded like she cared about the job. Truly cared. Lykos sounded like a cheerleader for herself.

I didn’t find Siegler’s t-shirt put-offing. She was very down-to-earth and businesslike in her demeanor, and her apparel fit her demeanor. There was integrity between her demeanor and her appearance.

I also noticed the plethora of Lykos stickers on people. As I passed the Siegler table, I grabbed one and slapped it on, telling the table-tenders “I’m doing this to pith off thome people.” They smiled really big and thanked me. I noticed more Siegler stickers as the day went on.

Everone needs to go vote and take a family member or friend with them. Lets hope that Seigler can win or we may be looking for a new county to move to. If she looses a lot of very good D.A’s will be leaving, or handed walking papers by Lykos, and going into the Defense side of the business. Believe me that will not be good thing for Harris County. VOTE SEIGLER.

  20. RO on April 3rd, 2008 at 3:56 pm

Pat Lykos will be getting as many votes as we can muster here in the northwest harris county. She was the only county official that helped us stop two state supported low income housing projects (similar to section 8). These projects would have seen the housing of hundreds of the worst of east New Orleans Katrina evacuees in the middle of three new NW neighborhoods. Dan Patrick was asked for his help on this iuuse, but told us that he was to busy with his radio station to do anything. Well Dan you were to busy to help then, now the chickens have come home to roost my friend. A large number of us in your senate district owe Pat a big favor, and I for one intend to pay her back. One thing i do agree with though, this Terry Lowry character is as worthless as they come!

FYI: The problem projects I refer to here where the old proposed TDHCA WCA and RCA that we did end up stopping with Pats guidance in the end.

  21. BigJolly on April 3rd, 2008 at 4:00 pm

How did Pat Lykos help? What did she do?

  22. txcapofficer on April 3rd, 2008 at 4:07 pm

    Kelly Siegler has my vote!

  23. redneckneighbor on April 3rd, 2008 at 4:51 pm

#20 Lykos helps stop a housing project in your district and that qualifies her to be a District Attorney ? Please consider voting for the best qualified person, not someone you believe you owe a favor to.

  24. texpat on April 3rd, 2008 at 4:52 pm

    #20 RO

I’m glad Pat Lykos helped your neighborhood with preventing those projects. However, there is nothing in your story which sheds any light on her actual qualifications for being Harris County’s District Attorney. I’ll reserve my support for Kelly Siegler, a proven prosecutor.

  25. hcresident on April 3rd, 2008 at 8:45 pm

It is now starting to come out that the latest negative mailer from Lykos was funded by Eckels’s leftover campaign funds. He ran the money through the GOP PAC and they did the mailer. The GOP PAC, a once “dormant organization”, is an organization that tries to fool people into thinking they are an actual wing of the local Republican Party. The Chronicle is already starting to talk about it on
Bernstein’s blog and I think their will be an article about it in the paper tomorrow. I heard that Michael Berry talked about how shady it all looked on his show tonight (I didn’t listen to it). This is the woman that wants to bring “integrity” back to the DA’s office. How are back room deals indicative of integrity? Let’s just elect the person who has risen above all of this, Kelly Siegler.

  26. RO on April 4th, 2008 at 8:34 am

#23 I will be voting for the best person my friend. The HCDAs office needs a good house cleaning and I owe someone a favor. You always pay back those that cover your back, because the scale must be balanced!

  27. steavester on April 4th, 2008 at 8:47 am

My neighboor did me a favor but I am not going to elect him to be District Attorney. I live in Northwest Harris County.

  28. RO on April 4th, 2008 at 8:57 am

#27 Your neighbor is not running for the DAs office but Pat is! Cast your vote according to Dans instructions, I’ll cast mine to balance the scale!
