You’d think at the markup over fair market value for his output, Nick Anderson would be drawing cartoons for METRO to illustrate Mary Sit’s blog posts.

  2. raiderdav on April 4th, 2008 at 11:10 am

Capitalist pigs. I like it here.

  3. Shannon on April 4th, 2008 at 11:23 am

    DB,
‘Bout time you sweetened the pot. I’m headed there now.

  4. Shannon on April 4th, 2008 at 11:26 am

Can’t you throw in one of the inflatable rhinos?

  5. Dov on April 4th, 2008 at 11:48 am

    David

I was gonna take it to $ 50.00 for my favorite charity yet when I got there it was already at $ 51.00

  6. Dave D on April 4th, 2008 at 12:14 pm

#6 Dov me too! at $50 it went outta’ my price range.

  7. BigJolly on April 4th, 2008 at 12:15 pm

How long will the advertisement run?

  8. Dave D on April 4th, 2008 at 12:18 pm

Houston Chronicle’s Nick Anderson is $32.49, thanks to a fierce battle between exactly two bidders.

Yea, and I bet at lease on of them is a Shill. ;=)

  9. BigJolly on April 4th, 2008 at 12:24 pm

    What if Headshaker wins?

  10. Peter on April 4th, 2008 at 1:11 pm

I attempted to buy Nick’s artwork:

    To Nick:

If I’m the winning bidder, will you inscribe “Man-made global warming is a farce”?

    From Nick:

Only if you pay $300 million for the cartoon.
    Nick

    After the auction ended:

    To Nick:

Maybe you should have considered the inscription…

    From Nick:

    Ha!

  11. Dov on April 4th, 2008 at 2:17 pm

    Yikes. I was reconsidering at $ 51.00 but not at $ 66.00

  12. tedtam on April 4th, 2008 at 3:16 pm

    #8 Dave

Won’t Anderson feel silly when it ends up he has to buy his own cartoon?

  13. Shannon on April 4th, 2008 at 3:16 pm

Having suffered the humiliation of a SquawkShop, I’m beginning to think it might be worth the $67 to have it in my arsenal.

  14. american woman on April 4th, 2008 at 3:25 pm

This print, this master piece of vinyl animal abuse, it too priceless. I cannot afford it. Perhaps prints would be offered for a tiny sum of ….. $5.00? hehe

Maybe your picture will sell better with some captions. So here is my “Top Ten” list of captions for that picture:

    1) Which “rino” can I imagine I’m putting it to??

    2) Now, you’ll know how the taxpayers feel!!

    3) Dan, can this still be called “doggie” style?

    4) Dan, are you sure this is the way to inflate these things??

    5) Let me see if I can “goose” this thing into moving.

    6) Dan, I think I can take this “rino” down from the backside.

    7) Dan, do any of the callers give me a “chance in h*ll” of taking this “rino” down?

    8) I hope somebody buys this “rino” because I don’t want to move it again.

    9) Dan, whose selling faster, me or this “rino”?

    10) Dan, next time let me do the microphone because holding up this “rino” looks silly!!

Here see if any of these help???

Robert, I got to #4 and lost it! You have outdone yourself!

  17. hamous on April 4th, 2008 at 4:17 pm

This picture is destined to take the place of the mudshark in your mythology. Better get it now!

  18. Matt Bramanti on April 4th, 2008 at 5:13 pm

Come on, guys, less than 30 minutes to go.

    Own a piece of history!

  19. chickenmom on April 4th, 2008 at 5:42 pm

I hate to lose, when I start something. I hope the ending bid was satisfactory to y’all.

  20. chickenmom on April 4th, 2008 at 5:46 pm

I’m a sucker for competition. I hate to lose.

  21. BigJolly on April 4th, 2008 at 5:49 pm

    chickenmom = chickencoast?

  22. David Benzion on April 4th, 2008 at 5:51 pm

    Chickenmom rocks! :)

  23. raiderdav on April 4th, 2008 at 6:01 pm

Make sure you pay via paypal chickenmom - that seller has 0 feedback.

  24. Matt Bramanti on April 4th, 2008 at 6:08 pm

    Thanks Chickenmom!

We’ll make sure the company plane gets another coat of wax in your honor.

  25. american woman on April 4th, 2008 at 6:15 pm

Chickenmom good job! I am sure this piece of art will be displayed in a grand spot.

  26. emmekelley on April 4th, 2008 at 6:43 pm

Congrats on the infamous piece of artwork, chickenmom. You need to take a picture of it in it’s final resting place. ;)

  27. Rastus on April 4th, 2008 at 7:50 pm

And so the birth of a new business venture is recorded right here on LST. How about that?

  28. BarryM on April 4th, 2008 at 10:23 pm

Crap! I was stuck in traffic when the auction ended. No way I could have sniped at the last minute on this one. I’m sure I could have gone up to 85.05 but I thought 75.05 was enough for a unique crap.

  29. redheart on April 5th, 2008 at 10:00 am

The Chronicle is a joke. I was making comments online and now they have blocked me permanently. I was a radical right winger and they couldn’t handle it.

    Glad you are winning.

  30. chickenmom on April 5th, 2008 at 2:08 pm

    #28 BarryM:

I had my automatic bid way above what you were willing to pay. I would have outbid anyone. It’s always been all or nothing for me. In the infamous words of Ricky Bobby: “If you ain’t first, you’re last.”

  31. Dave D on April 5th, 2008 at 6:24 pm

chickenmom, yes you’re my kinda Gal! ;=)
