    Paulistine?

  2. american woman on April 18th, 2008 at 7:08 am

It’s a huge undertaking in an unforgiving land. Good luck to them.

    #4 LM,

If you can get past the fact that the quoted Paulvillains don’t really sound anything like John Galt or Dagny Taggart, yeah… I suppose.

  8. David Benzion on April 18th, 2008 at 7:45 am

In Paulville, will fire melt steel?

  9. David Benzion on April 18th, 2008 at 7:49 am

Commander of Paulistine’s First Marine Division.

Rumor has it that DJ is the frontrunner for Mayor ;)

  11. raiderdav on April 18th, 2008 at 8:18 am

Has anyone thought of the prospect of using a composting toilet? These seem to have come a long way and require NO WATER and it turns your excrement into a rich mulch. This is what I am planning on using in my earthship.

Wow. Those West Texas skies in the pictures are tempting, but my earthship will remain in the 713.

#3 Wow. My date from last night. And here I was thinking I’d never see them again.

  13. Adee on April 18th, 2008 at 8:24 am

    Dr. Strangelove exhumed I see.

It’s interesting that the banner for Paulville.org shows beautiful green pastures in the shadow of the purple mountains majesty. I’ve traveled through West Texas quite a few times, and have rarely seen such lush grasslands anywhere near that area. And if you look at the satellite images Matt referenced in his post, there doesn’t appear to be much greenery around the neighborhood of Paulville, unless you head north-northeast to the irigated circle crops surrounding Dell City. And yet, according to the website this grassy paradise is the view looking east from the Paulville community.

Seems like there’s a little false advertising going on here…

The goal of Paulville.org it to establish gated communities containing 100% Ron Paul supporters and or people that live by the ideals of freedom and liberty.

More proof that Rombies are missing the gene required to detect irony.

Some 115 years ago, a group of disillusioned Australians set sail for South America, intent on toiling their way to a new society, in this case, free from avaricious capitalism. Colonia Nueva Australia was duly established in darkest Paraguay. Sadly, rows over leadership and booze quickly sealed the cooperative’s fate.

    Good Luck Paulville!

I think we should be careful not to Ha Ha away some of the REAL freedoms enumerated on Ron Paul’s website. Just because HE may be a little different, doesn’t mean that the principles espoused are not worth keeping. We should resist the temptation to throw under the bus someone who is on our side in some basic principles.

  18. Rastus on April 18th, 2008 at 9:26 am

    I’m speechless.

  19. LapDancer on April 18th, 2008 at 9:32 am

Silly me, I thought this a dream community for Paul McCartney fans. Time to unpack.

  20. hamous on April 18th, 2008 at 9:38 am

#17 - I don’t think this post is about Ron Paul. It’s about Ron Paul supporters.

  21. DanielJames on April 18th, 2008 at 9:42 am

    This idea is nothing new.

#21 - That one didn’t seem to catch on. Its been in the works for about eight years and they now have around 500 people in NH. Quite a bit short of their goal of 20,000. I imagine “Paulville” will be less successful.

  23. hamous on April 18th, 2008 at 10:05 am

Here’s an idea. The Mayor of Paulville should have one of them money bombs to purchase land and infrastructure.

  24. Robert 1 on April 18th, 2008 at 11:15 am

You all know every picture needs captions to better explain what you are looking at. So here is my “Top Ten” list of captions for this picture:

    1) In Paulville, only the “wackos” need apply.

    2) Yes, our commune will be “clothes optional”.

    3) What makes you think this is just another “Whitewater” deal??

    4) Yes, I had a “close encounter” with the “truth” but I was able to defeat it.

    5) Yes, I’ve elected myself “Dictator For Life”.

    6) Yes, in Paulville there will be no taxes, only fees.

    7) I will be introducing some new concepts into our culture that I will call “Paulisms”.

    8) No, I am not “Dr. Strangelove”, I’m Dr. Ron Paul.

    9) In Paulville, seeing UFO’s will not be unusual.

    10) In Paulville, the wackier you are, the higher the office you will achieve.

    Here try these!!!

  25. Ghost Rider on April 18th, 2008 at 11:45 am

They’ve already compromised their principles by using government-built highways to get there.

  26. LizBV on April 18th, 2008 at 12:03 pm

There are places advertised as peaceful communities for old people where birds sing sweet songs every day, the sun always shines and there is not a care in the world as you circle the drain. Why not a Paulville?

  27. Katfish on April 18th, 2008 at 12:35 pm

DJ for Mayor of Paulville!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Mr. Mayor please remember to haul a BUNCH of irrigation pipe to your new ‘city’ if you ever expect to see anything green there!)

  28. RickG on April 18th, 2008 at 1:09 pm

I’ll bet there are 400-plus people in Dell City who just can’t wait.

  29. wfish on April 18th, 2008 at 1:24 pm

I’m calling ‘Two Men & a Truck’! How far is it? Oh, wait, that may be too far out for me.

  30. Shannon on April 18th, 2008 at 1:38 pm

    Hilarious. Absolutely hilarious.

  31. american woman on April 18th, 2008 at 1:38 pm

#26 I’m with Liz on this one. Let them try this. If it works, wonderful. If they need to compromise some of their ideas to make it work, so be it. It’s an adventure and an experiment. Since there is a town there, I assume they have water. That is their #1 priority. The land looks harsh. I admire those who act on their ideas, and don’t just spout.

  32. bob42 on April 18th, 2008 at 2:01 pm

I admire those who act on their ideas, and don’t just spout.

Me too, and I wish them the best.

  33. hamous on April 18th, 2008 at 2:09 pm

Fitty bucks says that the good citizens of Dell City will be forced to subsidize Paulville’s water system so that the separatists can “live by the ideals of freedom and liberty.”

  34. hamous on April 18th, 2008 at 2:12 pm

Assuming this turns into something other than a pipe dream of a few disappointed Rombies. Not likely.

  35. The Dude on April 18th, 2008 at 4:38 pm

Every Ronulan Down in Paulville Liked Pocket Constitutions a lot…
But the Peden, Who lived just north of Paulville, Did NOT!
The Peden hated Pocket Constitutions! He thought them to be treason!
Now, please don’t ask why. No one quite knows the reason.

  36. hamous on April 18th, 2008 at 5:04 pm

    Excellent, Dude!

  37. Henri on April 19th, 2008 at 12:27 pm

I wish them all lots of luck,I’m glad to see that there are still some Americans that want to keep there freedoms. (From a grand mother of 9)
