Just one more blow to the Houston law enforcement forces. I’m not surprised, after Lykos won the run-off, but I sure am disappointed. Let’s hope she doesn’t decide to put her considerable talents to use to defend the bad guys she has prosecuted for so long. Not that you could blame her — that’s where the $$$ is.

  2. american woman on May 9th, 2008 at 2:52 pm

Kyle I don’t blame her for leaving either. It’s no surprise.

  3. NativeAmerican on May 9th, 2008 at 2:56 pm

I figured this would happen. Wonder if she’ll be going to Big Law or hang out her own shingle or what?

  4. Fasternu 426 on May 9th, 2008 at 2:59 pm

    McCain’s VP?

  5. BigJolly on May 9th, 2008 at 3:15 pm

Thanks a million Lyin’ Patti and the Repub establishment!

Man I sure hope all those who wanted a political hack to head the DA’s office instead of a career prosecutor are happy with themselves. I can’t blame Kelly for leaving…would you voluntarily agree to work for Lykos or Bradford? Me either…I am sure her resignation is just the first of many. We are about to see exactly which candidate the career prosecutors in the DAs office really supported.

  7. trl3 on May 9th, 2008 at 4:01 pm

That was a foregone conclusion the day she lost the runoff. the only question remainong at that time was how long would she stay and which lucky firm was going to land this talent.

The D.A.’s office just took a major hit.

  8. Robert 1 on May 9th, 2008 at 4:02 pm

Lykos and Bradford, boy, you talk about the “lesser of two evils”. Bradford is still the WORST option. His record speaks for itself. Anybody associated with Lee. P. Brown, much less chosen by him, has lost all creditablity in my books. And to top it all off, he has nevered tried a case that I’m aware of.

    Robert 1

Is there a lesser of 2 evils in this race?

  10. Fasternu 426 on May 9th, 2008 at 4:37 pm

“Is there a lesser of 2 evils in this race?”

Having worked for (quota) Sgt Bradford, yes!

  11. headshaker on May 9th, 2008 at 4:45 pm

    Good riddance.

She’ll be defending the scum of the earth before long. There’s more money in it.

“The D.A.’s office just took a major hit.”

So did the citizens of Harris County. Kelly will make a fine private practice attorney and I feel like she will practice in private like she did as the prosecutor. With ethics, moral and fairness.

  13. trl3 on May 9th, 2008 at 5:32 pm

    #11 headshaker;

What do you expect Seigler to do? The person who was likely to be her new boss has already called her corrupt. You cannot expect her work that person. If she is to remain in her choosen profession she must either move to a different county or become a private practice attorney. My guess is there is bidding war for her services.

I will have to take your word. I only heard the stories, I never had to work for him. Of course I have heard equally bad stuff About his esteemed opponent.

  15. Ree-C Murphey on May 9th, 2008 at 5:58 pm

I was so afraid this was going to happen. How do you work for someone that told everyone that you were currupt and part of the problem? I was hoping she would have stayed until the election is over, but again, I understand.

This is a sad day for Harris County.

Best of luck Kelly!! You deserve a good rest for all of your work!!

  16. Dave D on May 9th, 2008 at 7:04 pm

    #15 Ree-C you are so right! It’s a sad day when someone, anyone, can use the baised media to paint her as;
    A. Out of control Proscuter that would do ANYTHING for a conviction.
    B. Somehow tied her to the Idiot who was run out of office because he couldn’t keep IT in his pants.
    C. Someone who said a long time ago the SHE was Republican just to get elected.
I don’t blame her one bit, she wouldn’t be able to do her job anyway! Can you say “KAT-FIGHT”?!?!
Aside; my wife was a manager with 5-7 Gals under her for over twenty and she’ll be the FIRST to tell you that they HAVE to have one to pick on!
#11 Noggin’ Noodle, I agree with you about 10 % of the time, but I’ve always thought that you were smart and articulate. Your comments makes me wonder if I was wrong!! WTF, are you talking about?

  17. Dave D on May 9th, 2008 at 7:06 pm

My #16 twenty years got to start proof reading!! Typing way too fast!!

  18. Dov on May 9th, 2008 at 8:40 pm

    G’Night, Kelly Siegler,

However if I ever need a Lawyer I know who to call. AND it ain’t a politician bein paid by state politicians payroll called Lykos

  19. T-Hawkk on May 9th, 2008 at 10:03 pm

    ka-ching. She’ll be rich soon.

Did you hear the defense for the guy who shot the officer was because he usually drank 24 beers a day to calm his nerves, but only had 6 the day he shot the officer? Some defense.

Do you think Siegler will employ defenses like this for money?

  20. GoodJobTim on May 9th, 2008 at 10:11 pm

    <b<Breaking News!
We don’t know what Siegler’s future plans are. LOL.

  21. fat albert on May 9th, 2008 at 10:40 pm

    11 - shaker:

What on earth did Siegler do to you? She’s put in more than 20 years as a prosecutor in Harris county. And, now, instead of going to work for the defense, which, God knows, she’s certainly entitled to. She’s apparently going to work in Wharton County prosecuting a murderer. She deserves our thanks, well wishes and approbation, not scorn.

  22. RO on May 10th, 2008 at 5:42 pm

Its good to see Siegler is gone…thats just one more person Pat will not have to fire. Siegler will find work of some sort fitting her abilities. Heck who knows with her acting skills she might end up as a bit actor in some late night sitcom.

  23. texan1953 on May 12th, 2008 at 10:08 am

The fact that there is little confidence held for the new DA (whomever it will be) does not matter. The fact someone worked in DA’s office for 20 years does not seem to matter. The plan fact the voters choose their party’s candidates. Ms. Siegler’s plans are of no concern (I wish her well)…it is my hope that whomever the voters choose…that the person elected brings some creditability back to the office. Keep in mind…that both ladies were politicans. The fact that someone’s choice didn’t win the run-off does not change that fact. The voters choose.

Maybe its “Siegler Vs Schneider” Part 2

Siegler is set to assist Wharton County District Attorney Josh McCown in the August capital murder trial of James Garrett Freeman

    http://www.star-telegram.com/448/story/634221.html

The defendant is James Garrett Freeman…..Houston attorney Stanley Schneider and Richmond attorney Lee Cox represent him.

    http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-30675479_ITM

Stanley Schneider was Susan Wright’s lawyer in the infamous Kelly Seigler reenactment of the stabbing of Wright’s husband
