How very “Michael Moore” of him. I won’t be subscribing to the American Conservative now. I was thinking about it too.

Not to detract from the subject, but does Pat actually believe that if the UK and the USA had just sat back and allowed Hitler to roll over Europe, then everything would have worked out just fine for the Jews? Is he stoned, senile, or just stupid?

Who let uncle Pat out of the basement? Get him back down there and grab the hose. His mental deterioration is similar to that of Nixon. Too many lead paint chips perhaps?

  11. american woman on June 23rd, 2008 at 4:41 pm

Why is it so important to rewrite history? I think Pat Buchanan just sank to a new low, and I’ll find it hard to listen to anything he says.

I’ve had a real hard time listening to anything he’s said for quite a while now. He just seems to be filling with some kind of hate and looks like he’s lost whatever joy he’s had in his life. His face even looks like he just ate a bitter lemon.

I started tuning out Pat a long time ago too, NativeAmerican.

What Buchanan said is well within the realm of legitimate historical debate. Here, for example, is an article contending that Hitler ordered the Final Solution in December 1941: http://www.holocaust-history.org/hitler-final-solution/

It would also help if those denouncing Buchanan had bothered to read his book. If they had, they would discover that he discusses the Einsatzgruppen killings and quotes Ian Kershaw as describing those killings as “genocidal.” They would also discover that Buchanan puts the moral blame for the war and the Holocaust squarely on the Nazis, as I describe here: http://www.takimag.com/blogs/article/the_court_historian_of_the_neoconservatives/

  15. texpat on June 23rd, 2008 at 6:15 pm

Well, Tom, I’m impressed you’ve found a public home for your opinions. Unfortunately, you have chosen to associate yourself with a website that includes the likes of Justin Raimondo, a self-promoting, bombastic clown of ridiculous and lurid delusions. It’s too bad Taki Theodoracopulos believes these two to be credible and chooses to associate with Buchanan and the odious Steven Sailer.

McFee is entitled to whatever opinions he may want to conjure up, but that doesn’t mean I find it credible. He is also free to ignore as many facts as his little heart desires.

It must have been a Nazi bureaucratic oversight to deliberately starve thousands of Jews in the ghettos of Warsaw, the tens of thousands murdered in Romania and 34,000 shot to death at Babi Yar. Gosh, do you think the fabled efficiency of the Nazi war machine just lost all those potatoes in Poland or perhaps Babi Yar was an accidental, unfortunate discharge of weapons ?

  16. RickG on June 23rd, 2008 at 6:18 pm

    14.

Don’t tell me - the Hologcaust was exaggerated, right.

Meanwhile, reasonable people recognize Buchanan has turned into a crank. Whatever legitimate points he made over the last decade are now lost in his irrational extremism. Questions have been raised for years about whether he is anti-Semitic - or at least to what extent - and he doesn’t help himself here.

Buchanan should read some real historians - like John Toland - if he really believes his own manure.

Good job, texpat. It’s said to see a potentially important conservative voice jump the shark. But you speak the truth, as always.

I meant to include the fact all these events occurred prior to the January, 1942 Wannsee Conference, placing them well before any “official” declaration of the Final Solution.

    Texpat;

Superb post my friend. It cannot be stressed enough the importance of knowing what happened in Germany under Hitler. Hitler was utopian dreamer whose eugenic ideals lead to the mass murder of millions. The world’s flaw was not to intervene and stop him before his rampage.

Recommended reading: Ordinary Men. This tells the story of the Final Solution in poland. Of how, before the war, German folk, no different than you and I (went to church, played with thewir kids, wondered how to pay the bills, etc.) turned into a merciless killing organism. It speaks of techniques Nazi leaders used to get these soldiers to murder Jews; even shotting them in the back of the head while having them kneeled upon the earth. At first the majority of the soldiers refused to carry out their orders but little by little they did the unthinkable. They drug Jews out of their homes, lined them up and shot them.

This book was a teark-jerker for me. Although a relatively short book, it took some time for me to read it as I frequently paused to weep.

    http://www.amazon.com/Ordinary-Men-Reserve-Battalion-Solution/dp/0060995068/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1214273716&sr=1-1

    Tom;

To my understanding Hitler never gave any order to kill Jews. There was no order from Hitler to carry out a Final Solution.

Now let me make clear to you and all that it is my firm and unwavering belief that accoutability for every drop of blood spilled by every murdered Jew rests squarely on Hitler’s shoulders. He’s most definitely not the sole person responsible; but accoutable for ALL Jews murdered during the Holocaust.

There is no question Hitler’s vision of the world spun around the persecution and elimination of the Jews and every other “inferior” people on God’s earth. God our Father truely wept for the purely evil mass suffering and murder of millions of His children.

B has been anti British for reasons of Irish Independence. The hanging onto Ireland by Briton is a little too convenient to change the whole of History. We must always be careful of History for, like science, it is likely to be revised. A two edged sword, no doubt. .. Tex Pat is this a response to my request for the goods on Buchanan?

  26. Dave5 on June 23rd, 2008 at 9:54 pm

The Einsatzgruppen murdered approx. 1,500,000 people. Because shooting was deemed inefficient, by the end of 1941,the Germans began experimenting with gas and the rest is history. How Buchanan can claim that there was no grand genocidal plan prior to the Wansee Conference in January 1942, is ridiculous.

This is one book, a couple of columns and several statements by Buchanan in a lifetime of anti-Semitic rejoinders to the understood and documented historical record. I will, when I find the time, offer other instances of PJB’s offenses, but I’m a little busy right now and have several other subjects I’m working on for LST.

Just remember, Pat grew up in DC sitting on his father’s lap listening to Father Coughlin’s radio rants against the Jews, the Protestants, the minorities, the foreigners, evil bankers and anybody else he could train his sights upon. The senior Buchanan was an acolyte for Coughlin and a legendary racist bast**d.

Pat’s well-known hostility for all things Anglican resulting from centuries of abuse of the Irish is no excuse for obliterating the truth when it came to Hitler, Churchill and the Jews.

    gotta go - good nite.

I find this photo particularly poignant in that you can see women, children, and babies being murdered. A little girl is sitting up waiting to be shot:

#14 I suppose Kristallnacht in November 1938 was just a random, isolated event in German history and had nothing to do with Hitler and the Nazis?

In one night, 1,350 Jewish synagogues were burnt to the ground or destroyed; over 91 Jews were killed; 30,000 Jews were thrown into concentration camps; 7,000 Jewish businesses were destroyed; and thousands of Jewish homes were ransacked.

It is absurd to suggest what spews from Pat Buchanan’s mouth (or keyboard) is “legitimate historical debate”. Texpat is right. Pat was suckled at the teat of Father Coughlin’s anti-semitic diatribes.

    Bull’s eye, Hamous, on #28.

There’s nothing more pig-headed than an Irish Mick, rivaled perhaps by some other ethnicities but never bested in that department.

The photo above shows Nazi SS soldiers foot-deep in rags.

Corpses have heads, feet, hands of which I see none in the low-definition picture you used.

  32. Dave5 on June 24th, 2008 at 8:05 am

Of course, Hitler ordered the Holocaust. Himmler reported directly to him. And there are entries in the diaries of several of the Nazi leadership about being chided by Hitler for talking about it in public.

  33. hamous on June 24th, 2008 at 8:51 am

Here you go, Bantam. This is a photograph of not only dead bodies replete with heads, feed and hands but live human beings seconds before they joined their families at the bottom of the ravine.

Make no mistake. No matter how many deniers crawl out from under their rocks there will always be people exposing their lies.

  34. pimlico on June 24th, 2008 at 10:32 pm

27, thanks again Texbud. The Irish were definitely badly treated. One has to wonder if the US would be what it is and has been without the Irish being ‘driven’ here by frustration and Famine. They make great Americans. Fortunately, the past is fading and The Brits and the Irish are getting on very well.
