Autopsies: Horn’s buckshot caused massive injuries
The two burglars who were fatally shot by Joe Horn outside his Pasadena home were struck in the back, shoulders and arms by buckshot, according to autopsy results released to the public this morning by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The buckshot hit Ortiz in the back of both shoulders and elsewhere on the left side of his back, according to his autopsy. The pellets penetrated his left lung, heart, spleen, aortic root, left jugular vein and other areas, the Medical Examiner’s Office reported.
The autopsies were conducted November 15, 2007 and brought to you by the Chronicle’s hard-hitting investigative journalists less than eight months later.
In tomorrow’s Chron, expect to see an update on the health of Generalissimo Francisco Franco.

Crap! I’ll have to be more careful with a gun, now that I know they can cause injury.
“00″ Buckshot 12 Ga, 9 or 12 .32 Cal lead balls, 60 Grains each @ 1200/1350 FPS. Deadly indeed at close range.
OH WELL!!
Sh!t happens when you are thievin’!
Matt thanks for the update. It doesn’t change my support of Mr.Horn, but it answers my question about the media.
In case you guys missed it yesterday, here is Nick Anderson’s latest on this case:

Only eight months behind in reporing a non-story? They are probobly patting each other on the back for being right on top of a something for a change.
Guess the Chron is trying to whip up sympathy for the two criminals, eh? It will backfire. They have a habit of stepping in it with one foot and then stepping in it again with the other foot before it dawns on them what they’re standing in….
They of course wouldn’t dare print autopsy details of crime victims for fear of whipping up resentment among possible jurors in the trials of the perps. Noooo, especially if the perps are minorities.
What is the shortest barrel shotgun commercially available?
I would not weep for them had I learned they’d been struck by Buck Henry.
Okay, I apologize. I was wrong about Mr. Horn. He has a good shotgun, and he doesn’t need a better one.
Could I recommend that he - or anybody else, use my formula of 7 & 1/2 bird shot and 000 Buck? I call it spray ‘em and lay ‘em.
Big, I believe it’s 18.5 inches. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. Personally, I’ll go with my .45 ACP fired many times rapidly.
BigJ, Mine is store bought and the barrel is 21″
Anyone recall the date they printed in detail Officer Rodney Johnson’s autopsy report?
Water is wet and fire burns, more in depth reporting from Houston’s leading propaganda source.
Horn was cleared, enough said.

18″ is legal.
Get yo’self one of these!

“according to autopsy results released to the public this morning by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office”
It was totally inappropriate for the Chronicle to even print this information. Why didn’t they include autopsy photos to drive home their point if it’s such an important piece of information?
Do they think it will deter other crooks from breaking into homes? Obviously not. If they were trying to get a pity party going for the illegals, it sure didn’t work by the looks of the comments in favor of Joe Horn.
The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office would not release the autopsy reports until the investigation was over, a fact that is reported in today’s story. That’s what was responsible for the delay.
Perhaps Rahman could have sung happy songs to the dos ladrones in J. Horn’s neighborhood. That would not only avoid the receiving ouchies in their backs and shoulders but it would also result in them amending their criminal ways; going back to Colombia and returning to the United States with *legal* documentations. Once in the US the dos ladrones anteriores would help build up deprived communities and Poo Poo from the United Nincompoops would have happy things to report back to the UN.

United Nincompoops……. I’m going to have to borrow this from you! It will forever be my new name for them.

18 is not legal. It must be over 18.
18 1/2 and for safeties sake in case you have a peace officer who wanths to measure this barrel and butt slams the barrel into a brick wall.
You can butt slam the barrel into a brick wall where the barrel loses 1/2 inch.
And the defense “Judge it was 18 1/4 befor the cop slammed 1/4 inch off” aint gonna fly in court
Shannon #15, I stand to be corrected, but Street Sweepers and similar firearms are prohibited weapons by law - if I recall properly. I haven’t seen them at gun shows for years. Wish I had purchased one when they were legal, along with one of these!
They make a shotgun look tame, and they’re a whole lot cheaper to shoot!
myself
You can butt slam the barrel and lose 1/4 inch not 1/2
Dov, that would indicate a REALLY bad headspace problem, LOL!
This is home defense firepower.

Dov, would that not cause the shotgun to cease working? Is it illegal to have a sub 18″ barrel on a gun that does not work? I can see how on a Remington 870 such force can jam the barrel back into the receiver but the bolt would also be locked in place. No more worky. Just curious, you certainly seem to know the subject.
Dov. going to take your word on this and not try it with one of my shotguns. How hard does one ‘butt slam’ a shot gun to shorten the barrel? And does one have a functioning firearm after doing that?
doh! geez, I can be a dumba$$ sometimes.
