Michelle Obama has the goods on everyone down here in Texas. She is telling the world what backward cretins Texuns is. In a speech last week, Mrs. Messiah laid the wood to you sorry bastards:
It’s not just about positions that you take. It’s also about the leadership that you provide on these issues. Barack has the courage to talk to skeptical audiences, not just friendly ones. That’s why he told a crowd at a rally in Texas that gays and lesbians deserve equality. And you can imagine in Texas that that crowd got a little quiet.
Well, can’t you imagine it? Texans (presumably including Democrats, since this was an Obama rally) hanging their heads in silent shame because they do not embrace the beauty of the homosexual lifestyle. But, do not fear: Barack will wag his finger at us and teach us The Way.
This is part of his strategy to win the Lone Star State in November?
For an extensive discussion of Michelle’s pomposity (including audio clips), and her elucidation of the views of her husband - an ardent supporter of same-sex marriage and an enemy of any legislation supporting traditional marriage - see Hugh Hewitt’s blog.
Is there any end to the arrogance of the Obamas?

They can both ESAD; Texans have more class than to give into whims of the moments.

Michelle Obama is a piece of work, isn’t she? Does anyone remember when she and he were first stumping, before he was close to being the nominee? Michelle made a few ” woman to woman” disparaging remarks about her husband. They were not well received, and she learned she could not cut him down in public. Hillary would never be in the kitchen baking cookies, well Michelle wouldn’t even go to the grocery store to get the ingredients. I cannot see her even reading to her children.
They are as arrogant as Bush and Company.
Geez, we’ll never get any relief!
An article is out today on Michelle. She has a 35% disapproval number.

Obama has no chance. A lot of whites will not vote for him when it comes time to make the choice.
McCain needs to start harping on the Reparations issue. His campaign motto should be:
“VOTE OBAMA AND PAY!”
It’s already starting:
http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=94919&catid=339
Thank goodness there will be a long campaign season because things can’t keep bouncing off “BO” forever. Rantings and stupidity will eventually catch up to those two and people will hopefully see who not to vote for. My gut feeling is there are people in the Dimwit party who can’t see voting for a black guy and of course there are the women voters who if they want HELLary to get her chance in four years cannot have “BO” win. Also remember, true campaigning doesn’t begin until after Labor Day. It’s only the press who care now.
I’ve got a finger for him.
The election is 17 weeks from yesterday.

Ha! LOL

That’s right, tell him he’s “number one”.
#11 Native
Too bad he’s not a “middle child”, eh?
#8 I’ve got 3, and the outside 2 don’t count.
#8 - Is that sort of like “read between the lines?”
He’s a tall skinny guy; he deserves the tall skinny finer.
Crap!
finGer.
Michelle, who cares? I don’t!
Barrack Obama is an empty suit, he has no clue.
I think he waits every morning to receive his talking points from HQ. What change is he talking about? He is a polished politician, that’s it.
He is no better than anyone else up there and certainly a whole lot worse.
And the repubs have no candidate! What are we supposed to do? Good grief Charley Brown.
At least our policies don’t force people to live like this.
Welcome to the “ObamaNation.”
Typical leftists. Always trying to force their morality (or immorality) upon others, and then denigrating anyone who doesn’t agree with them or anyone who questions them and doesn’t march in lock-step with them.
In this instance, she has just denigrated the entire state of Texas by inferring that we are all anti-Gays, barely stopping short of calling us homophobes.
She’s really not too awfully bright. In fact, neither her nor Barack are that bright, judging by some of the comments both of them have made.
I would love to know what Rev. Wright has preached about concerning homosexuality. What do you want to bet that he is one of the very few pastors/preachers that thinks (despite the Bible’s teachings) that it’s A-OK with God.

I think you’re probably right…..about many whites not voting for a black guy. Among the voters, is that arrogance, learned behavior, an educated opinion or just the way it is in 2008?
Isn’t rather ironic that people who think the government should keep it’s paws out of their wallets and out of their pants have to look to non-republican candidates? What happened to the party of small government?
Cindy and Tracy are hanging their chad for Bob Barr. Me too.
#21 iz
It’s the way it is. Like it or not. If said black guy were actually qualified or something, it would really help your average white dude make the decision to vote for him.
Mama Obama needs some serious therapy. I thought that she didn’t want to be an issue…poor lady has issues. Why does she hate white people?
At least we don’t celebrate the murder of policemen and try to bomb the Pentagon.
21 iz - It’s not a black thing. It’s his politics. It’s his integrity. It’s his bigoted beliefs. It’s his preying upon the hope and ignorance of his minions with empty rhetoric. If a black Ronald Regan was running for office he would have the strong support of practically every true conservative in the USA.
The Obamas are actually playing nice for now because they want to get elected. Those kid gloves will come off after he’s elected. Can you imagine how bad it will be when he no longer has to kowtow to the American public?
From Dreams of My Father: “I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.”
From Audacity of Hope: “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

As you know, Republicans are NOT Libertarians. They are more libertarian than the Dems, but don’t have some of the dangerous isolationist and other views. There’s a reason why the Libertarians have never drawn more than a few percentage points from the American people, despite decades of trying. Most voters aren’t interested in their schtick.
Even Barr admits he is not fully on board with the Libertarian program. Abortion, for example.
Barr, trying to remain relevant, is on his own ego trip and might just “Nader” McCain by taking a few percentage points from him and swinging a state or two to Obama (Georgia, for instance). If this happens, you and Barr will own the distinction of putting a near-Socialist into the White House.
Congratulations.

I am going to chime in and say, none of your choices, I say it is Ignorance.

I was thinking the same thing about her. Why does she have such a CHIP on her shoulder and hates certain people so much?
#24 texan1953
She’s a walking hive of issues.
But RickG, who cares about a Socialist in office as long as Cindy and Tracy get to play house? Of course, nothing is stopping them from playing house now but that doesn’t seem to matter.
#22 bob42 - Yes, and it’s a shame. Peggy Noonan wrote a fantastic piece on this a while back. Man I love her work.

Are you sure? I’ll bet that if he were a conservative with Reaganesque values, that some on your side would not vote for him because he’s black.
#32 HoustonCommie Do you mean how Cindy Mac pays for reconstructive surgery for cleft palats in 3rd world countries or how she serves on charitable boards or is a darn good business woman?!? Are those the horrible things to which you are alluding?
34 - actually I was indirectly alluding to the whole drug theft, drug addiction and adulterous relationship with Johnny P.O.W.
#33 iz
Sadly, you’re probably right, but I would bet that the actual number who did so would be less pronounced than it is with Democrats.
Pollsters in the Democrat primaries. had an adjustment they wwould apply to their numbers to better estimate the vote for O’Bama. They found that lots of diverse & tolerant Democrats that would tell the pollsters they would vote for O’Bama so they would look all tolerant and diverse, but in the privacy of the voting booth, they would vote for someone else.
I do not any trouble voting for a person that is black. I do have a really big problem voting for a marxist and that is exactly what Obama is.
The stage is set however, when Barack loses the liberal media will report that the only reason he lost is racism.
Maltboy and trl are right - if J.C. Watts were running, I’d be outside in the heat right now campaigning for him!
It’s not race, it’s ideas. People who believe I’m voting against Obama because of his skin color are the racists. We’re a long way from achieving Dr. King’s dream.
They must have been quiet because they agreed. If they had disagreed, like me that would have been yelling some very rude things that cannot be repeated in a family-oriented blog like this one. But I bet you can imagine what they would be, right?
BTW, gays and straights DO have equality. Straight can’t marry members of the same sex; gays can’t marry members of the same sex. That’s equality!
There are too many people far too fixated on what color a person’s skin happens to be. Some people are so fixated that they feel they have to replace our national anthem with another song in some effort to celebrate their racial difference.
You don’t understand - it’s a cultural thing. Ask Sheliah Jackson Lee, even though she’s a Clintonista, who she is going to vote for now that Hillary’s out of the picture. She’ll probably say she’s not for Bush.
#33 iz - There are a lot more Democrats who won’t vote for Obama based on race than there are Republicans who wouldn’t vote for a black conservative. That’s the Dems dirty little secret - The party of tolerance is chock-full of racist blue-collar whites. Take a look at what happened to Obama in OH, WV, PA, and KY. That’s pretty damning evidence.
Ya get some people that will monkey with a toilet, even though it’s working perfectly fine. What happens? Everyone’s then got to deal with poo.
I personally don’t see any reason for gays not to find out what divorce is about. And alimony, and child support. Hehehe! Sure, the grass is always greener.
Make the lawyers happy, run to Cali and get married, who cares.
I generally don’t care who puts what where, as long as it doesn’t effect me, and I don’t have to watch it.
#43 - My former next door neighbor and her “wife” had a child together (one was artificially inseminated and the other one adopted the child, so they were co-guardians). They split up, and the biological mother tried to have the adoption invalidated. It went all the way to the Texas Supreme Court, who upheld the adoption. It actually made national news. What’s sad is the mother split to Minnesota with the kid just to get out of her joint custody obligations.
Obama is hoping to replace the voters that Wes Clark is casting under Obama’s bus.
A severe finger wagging is what Obama has planned for Imadinnerjacket.
Maltboy, just wait. The liberals will create homosexual “family” courts just for their own “special” issues. Gag.
If this initiative passes, not only will Cindy and Tracy be able to travel to California for their wedding ceremony, they’ll be able to fire up a doobie at the reception.
Scandalous!
Of course, the $40 per oz state tax would be a real buzz killer, and there’s always the chance that a troop of jack booted federal thugs will raid the place, rip off their stash, and shoot their dog.
Maltboy #42, I don’t think those blue collar folks are racists. Yes, they will use a racial epitaph when talking….but so will blue collar blacks. It’s more the nature of the culture they work in. The same blue collar workers, when they go home, usually don’t cuss in front of their wives and children and their mothers.
What Obama has succeeded in doing was to alienate them by insulting their religion, threatening their 2nd Amendment rights, catering to homosexuals, and having strong relationships with people who hate America and have actually attacked America.
Well, that just ain’t gonna fly, regardless of his color.
I’m guessin’ that this is gonna drive Cindy and Tracy, along with the Libertarian nuts, crazy.

Oh great, now the Lutherans will be forcing these people to take sausage making, domino and polka lessons. Does the long, intrusive arm of government never tire ?
Texpat, if they were Methodists, they would be required to bring a covered dish.
I thought Lutherans did casseroles, too.
49
I have opposed this unnecessary expansion of government power at every Republican Precinct/County Convention I ever attended…which really P.O.’d a lot of blue-haired, Eagle Forum types.
If that makes me a libertarian conservative, so be it.
Gays and lesbians DO deserve equality.
Don’t believe me? Ask Dick Cheney!
Let’s see… The nanny state, big-government loving “conservatives” won’t let some people get married, but forces others to stay in dysfunctional unions longer as part of their strategy of “chipping away at no-fault divorce.”
And ya’ll call us libertarians crazy!?!?
50
Don’t forget…green jello.
ok, I’m confused. I thought Jello was the Mormons.
They need a Catholic one so they can have a few beers & other adult beverages.
Government should not be involved in marriage in the first place.
In the second place why should gays be granted some kind of special status just because they choose to have perverted sex?
I’ll have to check, but I’m pretty sure non-beer drinkers aren’t even allowed to join the Lutheran Church.
:>)
re: arrogance of the O’Bamas
Seems he got in on the discounted mortgage gravy train too. He had no prior relationship with the vendor, was taking out a loan in excess of a million bucks, and got a discount on the rate. Where can I sign up.
Those wacky Lutherans.

Most conservative disagree with the Vice-President on many issues.
You normally disagree with anything he says. Now suddenly you think is the go to guy because he supports your warped thinking on this single issue?
# 58
That’s where you are totally wrong.
Gays DO not ask for special treatment.
Just EQUAL treatment.
# 62
“Most conservatives disagree…………..”
I must confess this is a new one on me.
If Government just has to stick thier noses into marriage they should not be requiring classed before getting divorced they should require classes before getting married.
I think we should scrap this election and make the vice president Cheney King for eight years.
#64
Only if you are deaf, dumb, and blind!
#63 rahman
They do get equal treatment. They are free to marry anyone of the opposite sex they want to and can convince to marry them.
All politics is local.
I think we all agree on this one.
Let’s move on!
Obama is often ridiculed that he was a community organiser at one point of his life. This tells me that he had the spirit and burning desire to make a difference in his community.
Now he wants to move to better and bigger things.
As President if he proves to be half as good as community organizer he should be given a chance.
Can anyone name a President who had presidency experience BEFORE elected?
I rest my case!
I wonder if Noodles will ever figure out that the classification of perversion as healthy and good for society when it is exactly the opposite is special treatment.
32. hd
So you think I engaged in some exaggeration to make my point? How perceptive of you to pick up on that.
But let me ask you: What was the point of her remarks? What was she trying to convey?
I have read the remarks and heard the audio clips. They are condescending, if not outright contemptuous.
And Texas Democrats just laid down and took it.
How proud you must be.
#69 Rahman
Obama should not be President because he is a freedom hating MARXIST. He wants the government to control everything you can do or say. It is bad enough now with all the so called Republican (RINOS). I would rather have a moderate democrat like McCain than a far left wing liberal like Obama.
# 67 & 68
Why would anyone continue to impose their own values upon others is beyond me?
Why can’t we mind our own business, dictating others who they should marry is poking our nose into other’s affairs where it does not belong.
Marriage is a man made instituition.
People marry for companionship.
If two men or 2 women want companionship why must we deny them? They have only one life to live.
Ok Noodles, I’ll play. Obama should and does have a chance to be President. That’s what elections are all about.
Now, he has to convince a majority of Americans that his limited to no experience in all areas of running anything means that he can run a country.
He obviously already meets your low standards. My standards however are much, much higher. IMHO, this man shouldn’t hold any public office, much less President of the United States. I just never had a chance to influence his career before. Now I do. Let the games begin and may the best man (which obviously is not Obama) win.
I’ll pit my arguements against yours any day of the week.
#68 Less than 50 years ago many posed an argument similar to yours, claiming that equal treatment under the law meant that black people were “free” to marry any other any other black person and the same applied to whites.
In prohibiting mixed race unions then, and same sex unions today, the government is acting beyond its appropriate scope. That we let them do this in the first place is a slap in the face to the constitutional concept of free association.
69.
It is an objective fact: Barack Obama is the most unqualified candidate for the presidency in history.
You damn him yourself with your faint praise. Being a community organizer qualifies him for president? You are surely kidding.
By the way, who was he organizing: Domestic terrorists, racist clergymen or financial con artists?
75.
Oh, so you would let brothers and sisters marry and produce generations of idiot children who become wards of the state.
Do you think there are ANY flaws in the Libertarian line, bob?
# 70
“Perversion” s a fancy word to describe for lesbian relationship by so called ‘normal’ people.
Clearly, those who are involved do not share your view. For them it is about loving and caring for their partner.
Rahman
Then I must assume that you are also in support of brothers marrying sisters, sons marrying mothers, fathers marrying daughters, a man having more than one wife, or a wife having more than one husband, couples marrying couples, etc., so on, and so forth.
# 74 Basara
You know and I know that the President does not run the country by himself, he delegates his authority.
A good leader surrounds himself by smart people and it is them who actually run the country in the name of their boss.
President learns on the job, that’s why in the second term they appeared to be more confident.
Rahman in #80 admits that Obama is not yet qualified to be President. Apparently we are supposed to allow for 4 years of on the job training before expecting any real leadership.
77 To answer your first question, No. It’s certainly within the appropriate scope of society and the state to prohibit incest because it is proven to reliably harm the resulting offspring.
At worst (and this is questionable) Cindy and Tracy potentially harm only themselves and should be as free as everyone else to associate in the manner of their choosing, even if there is an “ick factor” involved.
In answer your second question, I don’t know. I’ve never seen the “Libertarian line.” (I’m one of those small L nutjobs…)
I, too, would be surprised to find that “Most conservatives disagree with the Vice-President on many issues.”
I’m confused. Please enlighten me.
80
And Obama would have more to learn than any President in history.
This isn’t the time to turn an arrogant, immature, inexperienced socialistic president loose on the American people.
Noodles,
I have no problem with people living together for companionship. I couldn’t care less what they do in their home.
However, when they come into the public and want to force me to proclaim their sin as normal, I have a problem with that.
I can love people for who they are, but do not think for one second that you can force me to love somebody because they screw a member of the same sex. That is the attempt here. The GLBT community wants us to love them because they engage in perverse sex. They want to silence those of us who realize that gay sex is immoral, the same as adultry.
That is the intent here. Gay sex is to be classified as normal behavior, beyond ridicule and reproach. As such, they must be allowed to do everything that heterosexuals do, like raise children.
I have serious objections to this:
First, contrary to what Hillary proclaimed about villages, it takes a mother and a father to raise a child. Homosexual unions immediately remove one from the equation. We’ve seen the damage to children done by the “if it feels good, do it” crowd whom scoffed at the institution of marriage in less than a single generation. The children of single parents that were the results of this rampant immorality are severely messed. The children of homosexual parents will be no less messed up.
Second, homosexuality is a sin. When people are allowed to define their own version of morality, it confuses children. If there is nothing wrong with homosexuality, then what is wrong with doing drugs, lying, stealing, cheating, etc?
Do you see the problem yet? Probably not, I suspect you are actually a moral relativist judging by how you think Joe Horn was wrong to shoot two thieves.
# 81
The only qualification according to our constituition for presedent is over 35 years of age, a natural born US citizen.
How long a Presidential resume you think it should be?
So far we have had so called ‘experienced ” qualified’ presidents. Have you taken pulse of the country lately?
Everyone you talked to think country is heading in the wrong direction.
82, bob
Fair enough. The Libertarian Party platform, however, says nothing about governement’s right to limit marriage even in cases of incest.
I just think there are a lot of holes in the Party’s positions.
And, many of their positions - abortion left up to the individual (while at the same time they purport to champion the “right to life - a bit of inconsistency there, to be sure), gay marriage, apparent approval of jury nullification, repealing laws against drug use, and opposing eminent domain no matter how worthy or utilitarian the purpose - are simply not the views of most conservatives.
We don’t need the Libertarians. We need principled conservatives again.
# 84
Unless you qualify an ex president to come back and run again you will NEVER have a president who has the experience to run this vast country.
To all of them it is an unknown territory until they actually set foot in the White House.
86, R
Remember that last inexperienced “fresh” Democrat of change we elected? His name was James Earl Carter.
How did that turn out?
Rahman,
Quite true! The president does not actually run the country. Now let’s look at those qualified people Obama surrounds himself with:
Jerimiah Wright, Michelle Obama, Tony Lezko, and Willaim Ayers spring to mind immediately. That’s not exactly a who’s who of smart, qualified people.
Again, they might meet your meager standards. Mine are more strigent.
88. R
Is that the best you can do? Weak, weak, weak.
You are trying to say that anyone who hasn’t been President is equally qualified. Excuse me, that’s just ridiculous.
I understand that Obama supporters want us to think that because of his pathetic lack of all kinds of experience.
But it’s simply false.
By your example, you are just as qualified to be President as John McCain.
Please tell me you’re saying that. I beg of you.
# 90
Basara, I know not of those names you threw at me to be potential candidates in president Obama’s cabinet.
69 Rahman: Could you give some information on Obamma’s successes as a community organizer? From my reading the South Side of Chicago where he was active is not exactly a paradise. A large number of the community housing is unliveable, crime high, and buildings condemed that were built with government money. He represented this area as a state senator and things are still unliveable. If you does half as good a job as president if fear we will all be living in caves.
I am yet to hear from anyone a single accomplishment of note,
#87 RickG, I’ll read their platform.
I offer apologies if I’ve helped to sidetrack this thread by discussing equal treatment under the law for Cindy and Tracy (my favorite fictional lesbians.)
As I recall, the topic was the Obamas grouping Texans with the “clinging to guns and religion” crowd.
So, should I turn the other cheek, or grab my gun?
# 91
The only person who is qualified IMHO is Colin Powell.
Electing president this time around is a Hobson’s Choice.
We have no choice but to do the best we can!
McCain may not meet all the criteria, but who can?
Anyone with a smart /tasty lady for a wife can’t be all bad?
#69 rahman
See my #18 above to see how good of an organizer he really is.
# 89
And the so called experienced and qualified president we elected is George Bush.
Please feel free to add the above name to your list.
94 bob
No need to apologize. It was an excellent discussion. (by the way, are Cindy and Tracy hot?)
95. R
I agree - hot wives are not a disqualification.
97.
Bush wasn’t all that experienced compared to others, and he has been a disappointment.
But, if you want to compare interest rates, inflation and unemployment, Carter loses the comparison big time.
Rahman,
True, but whom he chooses to associate with is indictative of Obama’s judgement.
#69 Rahman - based on that stringent qualification, Q-10 should be his running mate.
#92 rahman
He’s pretty adept at throwing his campaign staff off the O’Bama express whenever something happens, which is fairly frequently. What will his cabinet look like? Will everyone on it be “acting” as in Acting Secretary of State, because he throws them overboard faster than the Senate can confirm them?
#80 Rahman - Oh, you mean OJT like Jimmy Carter got? Refresh my memory - How’d that work out for him?
#92 Rahman
No, but they’re sure in his closet. It’s getting pretty crowded in there too.
The sad part of it all is that the economy, if left alone, will pretty much run itself. It takes a lot of effort and a special brand of idiot like Peanuts to screw it up.
Again, there is that whole procreation monkey wrench that gets thrown into the works. Kinda hard to continue the human race without it.
To quote a (fictional) wise old woman…
82 - You think homosexuality as a practice isn’t harmful to society?
Interesting™
Cindy and Tracy have equal treatment under the law. They are free to marry any one unmarried, willing member of the opposite sex that they wish to marry.
Homosexual activists always trot out someone whose family refused to let their “life partner” come into their hospital room or live in their house after one passed away. That’s a red herring too because all that can be remedied legally in advance with powers of attorney and wills. Just another group demanding special rights.
But, but…Hammie, they have to work a little to bring about wills and powers of attorney! It isn’t FAIR!!!
#110 jimb
But married people have to go to the courthouse and, like, you know, get married and stuff.
111 - Not in Texas, they don’t! Common law marriage, Baby!
#112
true, but how do they “prove” their common law status? Could I go to a hospital & find some hot babe in a coma and claim to be her common law husband?
Hey, Rahman:
Did you know Obama has served only 143 days in the Senate? (Good grief - a school year is 186 days!)
This isn’t enough experience to advance a grade in school, much less become President!
“Barack has the courage to talk to skeptical audiences, not just friendly ones.”
Really? Then why no teleprompter-free townhall meetings with McCain?
“That’s why he told a crowd at a rally in Texas that gays and lesbians deserve equality.”
They have equality. They can marry someone of the opposite sex who is eligible to be married.
Michelle and Barack have trouble realizing that “same-sex marriage” is an oxymoron: “The same-sex union of a man and a woman.”
They also don’t realize that the government has no reason to regulate these unions. By nature and design they do not produce the next generation, and they can NEVER provide a mother and a father to a child.
All the smokescreens about estate issues, hospital visitation, etc. can be addressed by other means. For example, estate taxes are ghoulish. The government should not profit from the death of anyone, so let’s get rid of those completely.
It should be revealing how homosexuality and abortion are both accepted so wholeheartedly by the left. I associate the two because homo-homes are damaging to children, but that doesn’t matter to these people.
I have a relative that went lez for a while. She told us she was seeking a place to stay away from her abusive husband. He was, and we put her and her girlfriend up at our place for some months. These two women had six children between them from their former marriages. One was a man-imitator and my relative’s kids called her Dad-Mom because they didn’t know what else to call her. She wasn’t the source of all their problems, but this confusion didn’t help.
Did you read about the “Pregnant Man”? That was actually a woman who has had hormone therapy to more accurately imitate a man (can’t they come up with another fake gender somehow?) and if I read it right, s(he) was living with a guy who had taken hormones to imitate a woman. The pregnant one got that way by medical injection to ovaries she still had. Can you IMAGINE what this is going to do to the poor child? Dad is Mom and Mom was a Man and Dad was a woman and dear lord what comes next.
I oppose homo-marriage because marriage bestows a legitimacy that makes it inherently impossible to prevent this psychological abuse of children.
#21…allow me to judge BHO on the content of his character, ideas and political belief. This is where he (BO) shows his thin skin…disagree with him…it is because of his skin color. Nice try BO, I disagree with you on merit. A person running for the President of the United States and playing a victim saddens me.
I go run errands, the power goes out for an hour, and all of y’all kicked up 117 comments on MaMa OBamBam. Wowwwwwwwwwwwwww.
#117 tex
Wonder if he’ll cry if when he’s negotiating with Ahmadsanutjob, he calls him “big ears”?
#106 Hamous, If the fact that same sex couples can not procreate naturally is a good reason to prohibit their legal union, then equal treatment would mean that naturally sterile heterosexual couples should also be prohibited from marrying, and couples who choose to remain childless should have their unions dissolved by the state.
#107 Jimb, No. I have not seen any compelling evidence that homosexual behavior between consenting adults is harmful to society as a whole.
#108 Jimb, please see my #75. Under your definition of equal treatment, mixed race marriages should also still be prohibited.
Which brings us to the kids… It was once frequently (and sadly) validly argued that mixed race marriages should be illegal because “half-breed” kids would have a tough time in society. Thankfully, that argument has lost its validity because society has changed, for the better.
If anyone who justifies their support of the prohibition of same sex parenting because its “harmful to kids” has some links that actually show that’s the case, I’d be happy to read them.
Who knows? Maybe you have a “valid” point. I grew up without a dad, and turned into a libertarian!
113 - you could probably make a run of it if she had bills with your address on them and you guys had a joint checking account!

Wrong.
Then you have your head in the sand. I won’t argue the specifics with you because I think you already know the negatives and harmful aspects associated with homosexual behavior and choose to ignore them because you believe that people should pretty be able to live limit-free lives, short of walking up to someone and shooting them in the face.
How do you figure? If a single white woman wants to marry a single black man, (you can fill in whatever races you want to there) and they’re both willing, then they should be able to marry.
There is a juge difference between dual-race families and the psychological damage inflicted by having “2 moms” or “2 dads”. The kid will likely survive it, just like they will survive a single parent home.
There’s a difference, anyway, between allowing homosexual behavior between 2 consenting adults (I agree that this really shouldn’t be illegal) and putting society’s stamp of approval on the act by redefining marriage.
#120 - Mixed race couples can provide a mother and a father to kids, which is the ideal. Same-sex unions never can.
The argument about infertile couples isn’t valid. Its premise is that if a process generally helps achieve a desired benefit, it is only worth supporting that process if it always achieves that desired benefit. We are talking about rules, not exceptions.
“I have not seen any compelling evidence that homosexual behavior between consenting adults is harmful to society as a whole.”
Gov’t recognition of same-sex unions would be horrific. You’ll get more and more cases such as those documented at this site - http://www.massresistance.org/ - as schools will have to teach kindergarteners on up that these perversions are normal.
And one thing I’ve never seen the pro-GLBTQ group address is this: Sexual preference with respect to partners is considered immutable and paramount - i.e., a gay guy can never change and he has to have another gay guy as a partner. A masculine woman just won’t do, nor will a biological female who thinks she is really a male.
But sexual preference with respect to parents is supposedly irrelevant - it doesn’t matter if a child’s parents are M/F, M/M or F/F (or who knows what combination). They are all supposedly equal in value. Let’s put the interests of the children first on this one and not repeat the big lie that adults are vulnerable but children are not.
So why is the sex of one’s partner paramount and the sex of one’s parents irrelevant?
I forgot to respond to #98…
Yes. For each other. Not that it’s any of our business, or the state’s.
Do Cindy and John McCain have any people they work with, sit on boards with, whose children go to school with their kids, and live in the same neighborhood, and raise money for them who have planted bombs in American facilities and wish they had killed more Americans like Michelle and Barak Obama have?
Homosexuals are just as free to marry people of the opposite sex as normal people are.
What would Obama’s reaction be if Iran did detonate a nuke, and then state they had more which they could get into a US port any time they wanted?
Would he attack some tents and kill some camels? Would he destroy yet another aspirin factory. Would he give Iran a severe tongue lashing and waggle his finger at them?
Would he risk that what they said was true?
Would he wish to hell he’d done something before they got the nukes?
The Cindy and Tracie poll is neck and neck!
“Not that it’s any of our business, or the state’s.”
But you want to make it the state’s business to regulate their relationship. Our point is that the state has no need or reason to.
Marriage, by definition, is a heterosexual union. You can already have sexual relations, legally, with any willing human partner over the age of consent you want to. There is no inherent right to marry another member of the same sex, because marriage is legally defined as the union of one man and one woman.
#128 BigJ… That’s Cindy and Tracy, and they’ve been in a stable relationship for the last 23 years and adopted 2 foriegn orphans who recently graduated from college.
Hey, their my “fictional” lesbians…
bob42,
If you think that homosexual behavior isn’t harmful to society, then you have obviously never heard of AIDS. We have homosexuals to thank for the spread of that disease.
I’m not even going into the racial vs homosexual couples link you tried to establish. That arguement is pathetically weak. A union between a man and a woman of any color is healthy. A homosexual union is not.
Finally, I don’t need links to prove that raising children in homosexual unions is harmful, it’s common sense. I’ve already laid it out for you. The children living in such an arrangement start with two strikes: living without either a mother or a father, and living in a environment where morality is relative.
Can they survive that? Sure. Humans have been overcoming obstacles from the beginning of time and some surely will make it fine. However, that environment will screw up far more children than not.
In short, it’s a recipe for disaster and society will have to deal with these problem cases, the same as the problem cases that have come from single parent homes.
Uh oh, Cindy and Tracie have fallen behind in the poll!
Bob42 has a pair of lesbians? Who knew?
Does three queens beat a pair of lesbians?
Every day of the week.
Ah but 4 of a kind can’t beat a flush.
Michelle Obama is the new Ron Paul for comment generation. Hmmm…
#138 Just wait ’til Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr. hears about that!
Is it possible to have a straight of lesbians?
ROFL! Now dat’s the best pun I’ve heard in a while!
I’m sure there are full houses of lesbians.
I understand there will be a new PC show starting next year about a bunch of gay men in the 1880s moving from the east out to the west, and how they work to make a life there. Title will be:
Little House Full of Fairies.

The lesbians can play the trappers, they already have the wardrobe - plaid flannel shirts.
#143 - Funny you should say that. A couple of weeks ago I was watching “The American Experience” on PBS. The episode was on the San Fransisco Gold Rush in the mid 19th century. Because there was such a dearth of women in those years there were some men that would play the roles of women in the saloons. They tied a certain color of kerchief around their necks and they would play the female role as dancing partner. The program didn’t elaborate as to whether they fulfilled other “female” roles, but I guess it could explain why SF is the way it is now.
Tony Bennett had to change the title. Originally it was called “I left my hemorrhoids in San Francisco”.
Oh no! Cindy and Tracie are tied up!
#138 Michelle who?
It’s the Cindy and Tracy revolution now…
