Another reason we should become independent of foreigin oil. It is just like the Middle East threatening oil shortages if Iran is attacked. We have made hostages of ourselves. Thanks Dimwits, we won’t be a “super power” soon, I know that makes you happy.

Many Germans during the post-WWII prosperity of the fifties and sixties said that it was so much easier to buy France than invade it.

    Robert,

I think the R’s can take just as much credit or blame for the current pickle we are in now. The same “R’s” that claimed to be fiscally responsible, but when in power behaved like drunken sailors on liberty ashore in the Phillipines.

Reply to No. 3: Your right, to a point. The Reagan “R”s did a great job. The “R” you are referring to are “R”ino’s in the party mix. But any similiance to an “R” is better than any “D” as in Dimwit, anytime. With a RINO, you may or may not get some conservative views but with a “D”imwit, all you will get is ultra left wing liberalism at its best. “BO” has the potential to redefine “socialism” that will definitely bring down this great country.

Simple, please, do not compare Republicans pi$$ing our tax dollars away with sailors drinking on liberty. The sailors after all, are spending the money they earned.

Robert, do not be under the illusion that being energy independent will take any petro dollars out of the hands of terrorists. India and China are more than able to suck up any oil that we don’t buy. The two of them are sucking up much of the raw material in the world now: Iron, copper, etc. Those prices are going thru the roof.

Being enegy independent will however, save us from the agony of a shortage in the rest of the world should we have to slap the krapp out of Iran and they close the Straits of Hormuz.

Reply to No. 7: When I talk about being independent, I meant not being held hostage by the Middle East. I know there will always be a demand but we will control our own “supply and demand”.

I concur. I just didn’t want anybody to think our energy independence would put a dent in the money going to terrorists from Muslim supporters with oil ties.
