My checks are already in the mail.

    Really.

    They are! ;)

  2. gadboy on July 30th, 2008 at 1:30 pm

While I feel sorry for the families, aren’t these men in this position largely because they wouldn’t take the plea deal that was offered? I think Edd should take his compassion and intelligence and drive and apply it somewhere else now. After all, these guys were basically rogue cops. Wasn’t one of them even accused of domestic abuse?

  3. Ree-C Murphey on July 30th, 2008 at 1:52 pm

gadboy: I can’t tell you how many times I have seen people that are locked up in the “legal system” that have declined a “deal” or “settlement” because they believe they are not guilty (or they are “right”).

Those that are guilty know the system and know they should take a deal.

Those that are not guilty and don’t really know what they are in for, keep believing in the system and believe they will be exonerated. It isn’t until later they find out how “good” that deal would have been. I think this is the case here. I think a lot of those guys accused of rape and found to be “not-guilty” because of DNA evidence are also good examples.

As for the “accusation” of domestic abuse, there was. But again, “accusation” is the key word.

Today Edd said one of the wives, I believe it was Mrs.Compean’s lease is coming due. She has to pay her entire year’s lease at one time because her husband is a convicted felon. Whenever one leases a credit check is run, and it shows him as a convicted felon. I don’t know about you, but if I had to pay all of my house payment at once….. I’d be in a world of hurt. Both women are looking for work. Both women want to be able to visit their husbands in prison.

  5. gadboy on July 30th, 2008 at 2:41 pm

#3 once again, they should have taken the deal. They knew they were guilty of something, or they wouldn’t have tried to cover it up like they did.

  6. 1USA1 on July 30th, 2008 at 3:03 pm

Fell better now, gadboy? *rolling eyes*

  7. Ree-C Murphey on July 30th, 2008 at 3:11 pm

    gadboy:

You think they should have known better because they should have known they were guilty.

When you don’t believe/think you are guilty, how do you know you are?

As I said before, the most tenacious fighters in the legal system are those that don’t believe they are guilty and fight for “their honor”.

Pray you are never accused of anything, no matter how small, especially if you are not guilty.

  8. fat albert on July 30th, 2008 at 3:50 pm

Tell me gadboy, did you have to study to learn how to be such an a$$, or did it just come naturally?

  9. TexKraut on July 30th, 2008 at 4:03 pm

Gadboy, I can understand someone looking the other way when they see a person in need. It happens all the time.

What I cannot understand is how you can be so cold-hearted toward these innocent families (totally putting aside their husband’s/father’s guilt or innocence) that you would actually say what you have.

    Go away.

  10. gadboy on July 30th, 2008 at 4:21 pm

I am going to send money to the wife of the Chili’s manager who was killed.

#7 that last post made absolutely no sense at all

I have never fed a troll and don’t plan to start now.

CaddyBoy, even you have sunk to a new low, pathetically, that’s saying something! To everyone else please refrain from trying to engage this little person in argument, he is just blogging in angst as he has to deal with his inadequacies as a man and husband Err, most likely “life partner”. My apologies to all inadequate “life Partners” everywhere…

#13 Tin Foil, ain’t it the truth! My Bride and Lil’ Sister calls it the LDS Sydrome, (you do the math). I only wonder if he he’s like most Libertards and just HATES LIFE in general! Sad,…truly Sad.

  15. Super Dave on July 30th, 2008 at 6:48 pm

#7 Ree-C, at the risk of feeding the TROLL, I’d not have taken the Plea either, The Agents TOUGHT that they could get a FAIR TRIAL! This whole thing scares the Crap outta’ me.

  16. gadboy on July 30th, 2008 at 7:16 pm

#13- life partner? What are you trying to say?

  17. wfish on July 31st, 2008 at 10:45 am

    gadboy:

If you are ever accused of ANYTHING, I hope you take the plea.
But for those who asssume there is some justice in this country,
and they are innocent, a plea bargain is not an option.
My check is in the mail!

  18. Tex Justice on July 31st, 2008 at 6:19 pm

Hope some of that money goes toward some soap on a rope. Oh, and something nice for their new boyfriends.

  20. a crazy canuk on August 1st, 2008 at 7:29 am

Glen Beck is on with Ed and apparently he sent both of them a check for over 11 grand to cover their rent/mortgage payments. I assume they wouldn’t joke about that.

If true that is really putting your money where your mouth is.

  21. Adee on August 1st, 2008 at 7:41 am

#20 Canuk, I heard that as well. Good on Glen, Pat & Edd for stepping up to help these ladies and their kids. Edd said there has been a great response from everyone in donating. Seems there are plenty of outraged folks out there who are doing things rather than just moaning. Blessings on all.

  22. texpat on August 1st, 2008 at 7:53 am

I think it is commendable Edd Hendee is raising money for these families. It was not the actions of Patty and Monica that led to their present condition. Why exactly should they and their children suffer for actions committed by others beyond their own control ?

  23. DeepPurple on August 1st, 2008 at 8:27 am

    What’s wrong with welfare?

  24. wfish on August 1st, 2008 at 12:06 pm

DeepPurple: Execpt for the fact that YOU and I pay for it?
Otherwise, I guess it’s ok.I’d rather pick and choose those who
really need help instead of passing out $$$$ to those that just
    want something for nothing.

  25. Adee on August 5th, 2008 at 10:13 am

Ree-C, The totals Edd reported this morning warm the heart and cheer the soul. And they’re still counting the huge response from Glenn’s audience. Americans are the most charitable people on Earth, and they have a darned good sense of what’s right.

  26. Ree-C Murphey on August 5th, 2008 at 10:29 am

    Adee: I couldn’t agree more! :)

  27. Tektite on August 5th, 2008 at 10:47 am

    DeepPurple:

I have been think about what is wrong with welfare. Sure it provides you with funds but it fails in major way. Compassion! It totally lacks compassion. What is being done by Edd Hendee and others I would call Compassionfare. It is assistance with a human touch. The funds raised are done with an intent that is unique for each giver. This interns affects the recipient more than just a check from the Government. That is something that welfare fails to do and is incapable of doing.

What is being done here is what the Founding Fathers had in mind when someone is in need; not the welfare system put in place today. But it also is something that goes further back than the Founding Fathers. It goes back to Jesus Christ. This is what is talked about with Love your Neighbor.

Whether or not you think that what Compean and Ramos did was right or wrong or whether they should have taken a deal or that they got a raw deal from Sutton or the judicial system; it is about compassion for their wife and children. Plain and Simple Compassion.

  28. Tektite on August 5th, 2008 at 1:15 pm

Good Point Headshaker! Perhaps we should since the families are victims too. That is something that the community of these families should be doing. Neighbors, family, local churches, civic organizations all should be involved to some degree. But the Government should not.

    Why was my comment deleted?

  30. squawkbox on August 5th, 2008 at 1:51 pm

Your comment was not deleted. It was moved to open comments.

  31. headshaker on August 5th, 2008 at 1:53 pm

Where was it moved to? Was it not pertinent to this thread? It sure seemed pertinent.

  32. 1USA1 on August 5th, 2008 at 6:18 pm

It was moved because it was asinine.

  33. FourAlarm on August 5th, 2008 at 8:12 pm

Know what I’d like to see around here? All the comments that were punted as too risque to be read. Strip the moniker to protect the innocent and the guilty.

Require something for the Tip Jar for the privilege of rubber necking a train wreck or your neighbors dirty laundry. All the fun of reading hate mail or love letters and not knowing who sent them.

  34. southerntragedy on August 5th, 2008 at 8:54 pm

I am so freakin’ happy that so many people helped out. Had to write a note with mine forgiving my small donation, but times are tough. WOW! Power to the people!!!!

  35. Super Dave on August 5th, 2008 at 10:50 pm

#31 Noggin’ Noodle, man you NEED to get a life! How do you even get up and fucntion every day? You hate everything in this great country. I too get pi$$ed off, but I’m SOO much better off than most and Dayaam near everyone in the rest of the world that I stay pretty happy about it all.
